Just had 1 billion downloads on Spotify for Runaway a song she wrote at the age of 12,after following aurora now for 8years I have no doubt in my mind that she is the best singer songwriter and live artist that I have heard in a very long time, only one word to describe her.Genius ❤️

The thing about Aurora is that she is kind of an anti-pop star, one who doesn’t do this for the fame or money, and who is impossible to classify in terms of genre as she varies her sound from song to song and album to album (all the while still sounding like “Aurora”). In addition, her incredible live performances are almost always revisions or reimaginings of her studio recordings according to the venue, adding even more variation to her music. Although growing up (and still living in) Norway, she credits as her musical influences Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Enya, fellow Norwegian Ana Brun, and orchestral Classical Music she heard as a child. On top of that, she is a heavy metal fan and has collaborated with Chemical Brothers and most recently, Bring Me The Horizon. She has released 5 albums since 2015 and completed 3 major world tours, with another beginning in February.. “Runaway” has over 6 million views on RUclips and just reached 1 BILLION streams on Spotify. She is known globally but still flies a bit under the radar and is definitely not the type of “Super-Star” that everyone knows, especially here in the U.S., which I think she actually prefers.
She writes, composes, and produces (with a small group of other trusted musicians) all of her music and is invested in the emotions, content, and meanings of her lyrics, with emphasis on the damage done to our planet, our damage to ourselves, the mistreatment of women and support of the LGBTQ+ community. She expects listeners to interpret her songs in ways personal to themselves and only occasionally explains her original meaning (she explains “Runaway” on the “Genius” video series on RUclips).
Aurora herself is unique, a self-admitted introvert and a bit of an outsider who embraces her own “neuro-divergent” mind with a great sense of humor, intelligence, with natural gifts (she is not a “trained” singer) who is simply not like any other current contemporary artist out there.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. I knew you were hooked when you sat down your coffee cup. Fast forward to a month or so ago, "Dreams" live on Amazon. Aurora has refined her style, voice, band and aura. Enjoy the ride!

She is amazing Artist, actually my favorite :). She wrote her songs and lyrics too (this one she wrote this song when she was 11 years old). Her lyrics are often poetic and open for interpretation.
Ps. I like Florence too. But I think Florence has different kind of voice - but I am not an expert :).

Her music videos glorious but she's even more so live. I'm 69 and her melodies are some of best I've ever heard. She has such a large and beautiful song catalog that I and so many others adore. BTW, she does an 11 minute interview on Genius explaining Runaway and singing verses acapella if you'd like to watch on your own. She is an amazing artist and even better human.

You should definitely watch her live, check out Runaway live privately at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert and I think you will understand.
Her 4th and latest album came out in June 2024, and there are 2 Vevo live videos of "A Soul With No King" and "Some Type Of Skin", and her vocals are amazing in those, but they are stripped down versions, so not showing all the instruments and production from the album, but you could always listen to the album version afterwards either in the same reaction video or privately afterwards.
She also have the song "When The Dark Dresses Lightly" live at Amazon Music - Curved venue, it sounds close to the album versions, because while the vocals, backing vocals, guitar and drums are live, there are also backing tracks from the album version.

Did you know that Katy Perry was a fan of AURORA in 2015 already?
Billie Eilish said in an interview; "I grew up on so many, so many artists, but I feel like the moment... Actually I was like sitting on my bed, and I was like 12, and I had already started writing music, I just did it for no reason, kind of random, I have a lot of things I need to say, and I did not know how to say them. But I remember sitting on my bed when I was like 12 or 11, and just like surfing RUclips as you do, and there was this little video and it was called 'Runaway' by Aurora, and I had no idea who that was, and I had no idea what the song was, but the thumbnail looked cool, so I clicked on it. And I remember just sitting there and the intro played, and I just was like: 'Oh! That's what I wanna do', and then it just like, immediately I was just like in love with that whole idea."
Her latest album "What Happened to the Heart?" is a gem, but all her records and EP's are classics.

Aurora... She writes her lyrics indeed, which are a true basis or her songs. And she composes her music too, and coproduces her tracks in studio. Her lyrics are often thought provoking; they are not focused on one's navel, fame or money. That being said, in its own way, the song "The Seed" deals with money, at least one aspect of it. I suggest it to you, its music video is undoubtedly as interesting as it is a pleasure for the eyes and ears of any producer...

If feel a bit weird, suggesting a MV (which is largely worth the time watching it) when on a daily basis I listen almost only to her live performances... here are 3 live performances of Runaway to watch privately, as exemples, if you feel to be curious:
AURORA - RUNAWAY - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert: ruclips.net/video/Fc7XWW_Ehb8/видео.html , the most used in reaction videos
Aurora: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert (2015): ruclips.net/video/evBgLWQwAFA/видео.html , it's the first song of this acoustic mini-concert
AURORA - Runaway at 101.9 KINK | PNC Live Studio Session (2022): ruclips.net/video/4bbuR-qnFlg/видео.html , another acoustic one, more recent.
Discovering Aurora means opening up an entire artistic universe full of beauty and subtlety, intensity and depth. Welcome to her Queendom, its exploration is worth it. Anyway, thanks for reacting to her.🙂👍

Loved your comments. For her today I would suggest two of her latest live performances. Dreams and Dark dresses Lightly by Amazon curved. They are from her 2024 Album.

Dark Dresses Lightly at Roskilde 2024, JMO. Much more informal and fun.

the less i would like to see is a producer who tries to 'guide' her in music questions. there is a huge catalog, she is one of the most talented artist walk on this planet. if you skip each and every step of her development you miss something. have fun in the realm of auroras queendom.

    Great reaction.
    She's unique.
Totaly agre on the Irish folk vibe.
Her Vevo live versions of her songs
A soul with no King and Dreams
are good example of her new
    stuff.❤
You are a bit late to the party when it comes to produce for her, she's
    allready worked with people like
Brian Eno who have worked with Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, David Bowie, U2 and
    Robert Fripp (King Crimson)
Another Norwegian Band with some Irish folk vibes is Kalandra.
Check out Lullaby( live at Storås )

Really great reaction, subbed. I think you should check out her recent vocals live, stripped down versions of the songs, Soul With No King and Some Type of Skin, both Vevo performances she did the same day. Thanks, looking forward to more Aurora, the musical/lyrical genius.

Great reaction! Aurora is actually best known for her stunning live performances, but if you want to jump to something produced new, I would highly recommend the "Starvation" and "Conflict of the Mind" music videos. Both of those are off her latest album, released last June, called "What Happened to the Heart?".

    • @tx0h
      @tx0h 11 дней назад +3

yes, 'conflict of the mind'. if i got it right, they wrote it in one session. don't know if her sketchbook was already filled with the ideas.
