idk, you might know better and maybe it wouldn't have been quite enough damage, but i feel like earlier death's dance in place of collector and after eclipse would have been more effective, even with that kill collector got you, with deaths dance you probably just lived long enough to kill outright. i feel like DD and maw are undervalued items on briar, but im very open to correction/argument. i just feel like there were a lot of situations this game where they could have maintained the snowball and kept the lead.
death's dance is a broken item when snowballing, since you need to get a takedown for death's dance to have a passive. but if you can reliably get takedowns, cleansing 30% of any damage you take is huge.
I was thinking deaths dance instead of cleaver, since he didn't really need armor shred at that point and reducing burst damage by 30% seems way better than just like 400 hp
He said collector second is the best if snowballing, which is understandable. More gold off collector passive to make the kills still worth going for and to make getting said kills just a little faster so you can keep moving to the next target. As for cleaver follow up, the combination of bleed doing hpysical damage boosting briar damage that much more AND cleaver giving MS on autos which translates into running people down that much easier are both reasons behind it. Sure the pen wasnt needed at the time, but that wasnt the point of the purchase. Its the layered synergies with items and passives thats why he chose that specific buold path
@@slademmxii8759 i dont entirely disagree, but look at the pattern of the game, the thing he struggled with was survival, not so much the hitting. i think black cleaver could still be third tbf, but i think dd would have had far more impact second. karthus applies maw pressure, but dds omniresists compensate either way. a lot of the midgame fights before momentum fully turned were controlled by needing to live longer moreso than needing more damage. this is somewhat comp dependent but imo a reasonable pattern to observe going in and as early game progresses.
It boggles my mind that champs like Asol and Yuumi get repeated nerfs into borderline deletion, but Karthus is left in this state to rot solo queue. It's happened to many champs in the past like Annie, old Yorick, old Urgot, old Fiddle, TF, old Talon, old Pantheon, Qiyana, old Akali, Nasus, Kalista, Lissandra, Malzahar, Skarner, old Morde, all of the Ryze variations. If they are impossible to balance, and they are uninteractive and unfun to play against then they nerf them to the point that they are unplayable until their rework, or they can put more time into more sophisticated balancing. That or until the meta forgets about them, and we have cases like TF one shotting people again. It's something Nidalee got entirely reworked over, but a targetable nuke on a 5 second cd is just fine for them now. Now they have a champ that is the epitome of those design failures with Briar, who is oppressively strong and unfun to play against despite repeated nerfs. Whether you win or lose against it is irrelevant, the games are not fun and the way you win is not a testament of skill. As much as I think Brightmoon is sweet, I'm hoping whoever steps in for him has more proactivity in reworking these unfun problem champs instead of piling on with new ones we don't need like Briar, and adding a more practical fix for the stale meta we have been dealing with for years at this point. It's obvious where the issues lie with this game that it's annoying to even hear about them, but it's so baffling that they repeatedly get ignored by riot.
Eclipse is just to win 1v1s or maybe 1v2s, it's pretty bad for bigger teamfights or for hypercarrying, when you get this fed I for sure think duskblade is better
Briar isn't weak, but bruiser briar is. She was supposed to be a bruiser but she's getting nerfed overall for her lethality builds and going Trinity or stride is pretty weak in comparison now
personally i prefer q start instead of e if the enemy champ is going to be in range of it, especially with hail of blades you will get a favourable trade

Briar doesnt even have that high of a learning curve. Dont use w without e available unlesd you know for certain you wont be dragged under tower and die. Thats her learning curve. She plays like tryndamere with the healing of a late game vlad.
