Several nice tips on angled wraps to keep materials uppermost and hackle preparation. Beautiful dressing Maestro Davie!! Thanks
This is not fly tying, this is Davi tying! Next level! Greetings from Poland!
Thanks Davie, I've been a big fan of your tying for years. I'm about to head to the river now.
A very similar fly was developed years ago by the river Varzina in Kola peninsula. The fly is called “Jarppa”, and it has a white rabbit zonker wing just as this one. The only difference, really, is the pink flash in Jarppa. Varzina has a very healthy population of arctic char, and the idea behind Jarppa was to imitate the small arctic chars that the big brownies were eating, just as this one. Really amazing that anglers a long way apart in different countries came up with such a similar solution for the same purpose. Thank you very much for the amazing videos!
Genius of fly tying amazing thanks Davie 😁
A grand fly for perch too. Thank you Mr McP
Beautiful fly and quite easy to tie! Thank you for sharing.
Firstly, this is a beautiful fly--nicely tied. I'll be tying it for my upcoming Montana trip for 2023. I' m certain it'll work well for browns as I know that similarly shaped white streamers worked well during off color, high water conditions. I was unable to source the Arctic Runner, but will use Icelandic Sheep Hair in Fl. Yellow as a substitute. I'm off to tying a bunch. Thanks for the post.
Yet another work of art Davie, thanks
Killer pattern Davie, Thanks again!
I’m imagining that in the gulf surf for bonito, Spanish mackerel, or blues. I’ll need to tie a few for my next trip! Cheers.
Enjoyed your video davie looks like a very effective pattern tks for sharing
Thanks Davie! I would fish either the dark or light with my preference leaning toward the dark out here in the west.
Thanks for sharing Davie, an education as usual.
Thanks for doing that Davie much appreciated, looks perfect. 👍
No problem 👍
This style of fly pattern is a popular for Steel Head and salmon fishing tied in various colors and sizes. It works well for trout too. Dead drifting them, they represent dead or dying minnows. There used often on Great Lakes Salmon and Steel Head tributaries in winter and spring runs of fish. However, work any time you notice dead minnows in streams or rivers. What makes them most effective is drifting them near bottom but trout will take them any place if they see them.🤔🙂
Благодарю, Дэви! Прекрасная приманка! Вы великий мастер, есть чему у вас научиться! 👍🤝🇰🇿
Nice, simple and Im pretty sure, effective. Thanks Davie 👍
A friend of mine in NW England in the 80s used to fish what he called a Snake. It was what became a zonker. It was very very simple and deadly, a strip of muskrat natural or dyed. That's it. Sometimes he actually just hooked the strip on the hook. He also had a version doubled up on itself, which he called a snail. He mostly fished them slow and caught a lot of fish. He reckoned they were taken for leeches.
Veryj nice Davie.
Thanks .👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great looking pattern Davie✌
Great fly Davie
I definitely can fish that fly in the Limay River.
Davie would you consider making a video on the different types /makes of hooks and explain what is what and the avantages of each and which ones you prefer and why. Also id like to know what lines/leaders you used why your like them and what knots you recommend for the various applications
Thanks Davie.
A very different fly for you but beautifully executed as always!!!
Davy.
On a different subject. Where can i buy foam for daddy bodies. Its the foam you can light with a lighter and its shrinks . Love this video. May have a go this weekend.
Kindest regards
Gerry
Hi Gerry,
I like to use Wapsi foam block which I cut with a small tube cutter though a sheet of 2mm close cell foam does as well..I have attached a couple of vides in which I use both for you to see.

Beautifully done Sir!!

Hi Davie
I love this zonker pattern, but cannot find anything close to it, do you sell these flies at all, as I don’t tie my own flies.
Excellent video.
Bob.👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Very nice 👍
Davie, how would one avail of a complete boxed selection of flies tied by your good self? I'd like to get my Dad something special for Christmas, as since I've taken the sport up recently, my Dad got back into it after a 30 year hiatus. I know your stuff is available for purchase on the Fulling Mill website, but I was wondering if complete boxed sets were available as well.
Many thanks!!
Hi Kiwi Comanche,
I'm sorry I stopped taking orders as I only tye to give away in the monthly draw I do and filming here on youtube as the old back and neck struggle to keep up with tying many flies..The flies that Fulling Mill sell are made overseas and not by me though they use the patterns I have tyed here on RUclips..I appreciate you asking..
All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Fair play mate, thanks for letting me know!!

Mr. McPhail, I have not seen you using "select fur..." ?
Hi Miguel,
I have used it many times on saltwater flies over the years and on some flies here on RUclips so I have attached a link to the playlist for you to see..
