Not all humans are monsters but there are many out there hiding behind a face that look human. I have seen such cruelty with animals in my life that it makes me sick to my stomach. I spoke up and got many animals away from cruel people. I'm trying to get dogs tied up banned in my town. You don't need a dog if you have to tie it up. They get stressed out and have no human contact. It can make them aggressive and I can see why. Can you imagine being tied up day and night outside in the cold and hot summers with mosquitoes eating you up. I have seen it all and I'm not going to say what I would love to do with the heartless people that abuse animals.

Shadow was not a "prey" animal. He was a protector. He had fought with his person to try to save the cattle herd from lions. He grieved because he had lost the person he loved. He had spend his life on a farm around other animals and helping to care for and protect them. I'm not surprised that he knew how to connect with Tembo. Thank goodness Dr. Mwangi and the team decided to take a chance.

This was my black Labradore to a T he made friends with everybody and cats as well he loved people and though now passed he is still asked after. Before Beau the previous dog I had a a border collie she made friend with 5 Magpies, everyday she had a game with them and at her passing they all came and sang in our garden. Promise you this is true animals really care .

Poaching is big business. Think helicopters and rifles, and the landscapes are vast. Very hard to police with the resources available.
Think of stopping the people who buy the ivory! They are the ones furling the poachers! They should allow the legal sale of ivory from stock piles and animals who have died naturally, then the poachers won’t find work! Some cultures demand Rhino Horn be used to make the knife handle....think it might be Muslim also. Should do more research.

Sorry to say, as I was enjoying the story. But some things didn’t seem right and the photos made me have questions. So, I looked it up and this is not a true story. As it says on Google, this is a creative story, not a factual story. It was supposedly written by Oliver Wright. It was written to bring awareness to elephant welfare. There is a real blind elephant named Tembo that is 50 or so years old that lives on a sanctuary in Waco Texas. There are several children’s stories that also include elephants named Tembo. But sadly this is not a true story. 😢

Dogs and elephants are two of the most intelligent and intuitive terrestrial animal species. They can both read humans to a startling degree. And black labs are the ultimate service dogs. Ours is currently curled up alongside my knees as I write. Why is anyone surprised?
