I watched her thru hike on the AT and now the PCT. I love her videos. In her southern style, humor, sweetness and beauty she will surprise you with deep wisdom and knowledge about trail life and life in general. Underneath that southern lady charm is a surprising TOUGH GIRL!
What I like most about Dixie she is so real so genuine great person who is not afraid to show her emotions. Fan from Florida. Oh and she expresses herself so well
I went to Auburn and worked in the oil field too!! Except in Midland, TX. Researching hiking the trail as a solo woman and came across this podcast. Great to hear her experience. War eagle!!
Fantastic! check out www.folllowingthearrow.com - which is a great blog and has lots of resources. I also thru hiked the AT last summer- you can watch all of the vlogs as well - Best of luck with your hike
I found Dixie's videos while planning my PCT hike. She has quickly become a hero of mine! I'm now following her (from home) on her imminent PCT adventure. My own hike won't be until 2018 though. Very excited to hear you will be doing the AT this year! I'll be following along with your adventure as well. :)
This was a fantastic interview. So interesting and you asked great questions, Sarah. Your interview technique was spot on with no interrupting as some hosts tend to do. Very well done. The audio quality was so pleasant to listen to.. I'm off to listen to more Tough Girl podcasts, now . They are indeed, inspirational. Btw....congratulations to you for accomplishing your goal of the AT in 100 days and the amazing videos that recorded that. And congratulations to Dixie for her successful completion of the PCT. Amazing journeys!
Watched her videos and her comments section were hilarious. All these dudes wanting to wife her :) I couldn't listen to the whole podcast but hopefully you got the boyfriend question out of the way for all the Casanovas out there.
I wasnt expecting you to. Was saying it in jest since she has a cult following of men (many older creepy guys) that are all over her. I think my question missed the mark
So from my experience, Sarah, after all the marathons, all the hiking and backpacking and adventuring, there was nothing -- THERE WAS NOTHING! -- as awesome as the adventure of planning, having, and raising children. And it was a difficult transition to go from adventuring in the great world outside to this domestic and normal activity. I would greatly appreciate knowing through your wonderful interviews those young men and women who have been able to do it. How's that for a topic? :) Dixie's clock is ticking. Triple crown? Meh! Triplets? The greatest adventure, IMHO.
Hi Thomas! Great point!! Take a listen to Ann Daniels who had triplets while training for her first Arctic Expedition. She went on to become one of the Great British Polar explorers of our time. Take a listen to Lowri Morgan who has also been managing the change from being an adventurer, to having children and now getting back to adventures! Let me know what you think!
Ha! Slam dunk for you to lead me to Ann Daniels. Great interview (I'm half way through it), and yes, an amazing feat for her. Thanks for leading to your channel. SdM, wow, you are heap big strong!

A year later Dixie just finished the PCT and and Sarah finished the AT in 100 days. A conversation between two amazing ladies.

I didn't ask that questions. I never actually ask that question to any of my guests!
