Question - can a servo motor like this run straight off a 9V battery via Arduino or would this burn the motor immediately if no resistance is used? If resistance is necessary, how much? Thanks!
If you give 9 volt directly to servo it will damage but you can give 9v to arduino than arduino to servo because arduino have voltage regular..if you want to run servo with 9v than use voltage regulator lm7805 or a buck converter..instead of resisitor

Yes 9 volt battery can be added ...it works fine with laptop ..but if you cant bring laptop to school you can also connect the cable with power bank...

@@carlamannon4974 ok got it...yes these wires are just jumper wires ..Red for +5v and yellow for the ground... We have to give the voltages to both sensor and the servo motor...and these wires are not soldered just like that as we put jumper wires

What and how do i put those wires there? you dont talk about them in the video at all. I dont mean speech. I mean you dont insert them or write text on the video to explain their presence. Do i use jumper wires in their place or is it something else? i want to know as i am beginner in many ways. i havent seen them flat like that. i know the usual jumper wires as i have gone to arduino workshops but havent done anything with servo motors before. so its the wires that are flat on the breadboard. btw what breadboard do i need. i did have one but somehow i lost it. i see the one you have in the video is longer than the one i have. thought i would get one from aliexpress

Basically servo motor have high torque as compared to other dc motors...but you can rotate it only 0 to 180 degree ..so in any application where moment required between these angle with high torque servo can be use

Its a servo motor it can not spin...and speed is fixed...so you have to use stepper motor for spin and speed
