The world is better for people like David Russell who will devote their entire life to performing beautiful music for us. The amount of work that goes into what he can do is mind boggling.
I'm very proud of probably one of the best composer for guitar Agustín Pio Barrios or Mangore in our native language Guaraní. The execution of this master piece is extraordinarily beautiful.
you can see the emotion in Davids eyes as he tells of this marvellously inspired story. A story from a Barrios whom had seen his fair share of poverty throughout his life and in his last days made this piece of music in hommage to an old beggar woman who still had the will to share her song with people. Thank not the man whom wrote and played this piece but rightfully thank the one in heaven above whom inspired him to write it and play it. im sure Barrios would agree.
I remember when I met Mr Russell in Siracusa, over 15 years ago. Such a great musician, knowledgeable but down to earth man, patient teacher. He's also very good at languages, he could speak Italian perfectly and I can hear he can speak Spanish as well....... I wonder how many other languages he can speak so well...... Anyway love his rendition in this video. 👍
Hermoso!!
I believe that David Russell is an enlightened person. There is something deep about his playing that many people probably doesn´t notice or can´t feel.
pistiick David is an amazing guy, very genuine and very funny. Probably is a more simple guy that I already know in the "guitar world". I´m sorry, i don't agree with you.
its song captured in transcendence way.. very-very beautiful!. I'm Brought here because Namco-Ace Combat 4 "Shattered Skies", the game i plays in 2001, but this piece attached with me for more than 17 Years. In the game story line, this masterpiece captures the emotion of an orphaned & broken heart kid in the middle of war, his search for the "accidental killer" of his family, an emotional reunion with "Yellow 13" Ace pilot, The Fall of The Yellow Squadron, ended with Yellow 13 death and the liberation of his cities (the end of war). sorry for the out of topic post.. salam..
When I first heard this song, it was in a videogame. I have been searching for many long years to find this song, because of the emotion I attached to it at a young age. It is amazing how Barrios captures it completely, even better than I remember.
@@davehshs651 It only plays in a single cutscene. Wherein a boy orphaned by a downed plane crashing into his house, who plays harmonica to bring in money, finds the man who shot that plane down and they perform this song in duet on a harmonic and guitar. To quote the boy in the cutscene: "I had finally found HIM. But by some fluke, it was my father's favorite song, the one he used to play at the end of each day."

Well said, Jeffrey. No doubt he's put the time in to be a master musician. Great guy, too!
Top artist like him is a miracle being. What a gift of joy in this world.
" But by some fluke, it was my father's favorite song. The one he used to play at the end of each day... "
Rest in Peace, O' the true Aquila Ace
May he and the 4th be together finally without waging foolish wars anymore
amidst the shattered skies, a link from past to future, the sheltering wings of the protector
"I have finally found... him"
Agustin Barrios, what a genius... Thanks for this beautiful rendition Mr. Russell...
The most beautifull version of this beautifull piece.
+Christine Horand-Haberecht I agree.
I will never forget listening to this for the first time at the age of 14 and just falling ever so deeply in love with Augustin Barrios...

Ace Combat 4:Shattered Skies uses a few Agustin Barrios tunes. Really brings out character in the story telling :)

Wow! Music to kill your enemies by. Wonder what Barrios would have thought of that.

Goddamn it, that's some very serious tremolo skills, it's as close as you can get to perfection.
que orgullo, tantas personas admirando el trabajo de mangoré,
Un maestro coi fiocchi. Bravissimo ❤️
