    My 77yr old dad lived out in the province in Malolos north of Manila on $740 a month, it can be done easy in the province. He did have a 13a and wife whom was 58. Sadly he passed away in Sept from Covid. He was military Vet who was in Vietnam and even though he did not try for disability, His wife is now getting $1300 a month for life for survivor benefit's.

    That's It! Dude is 72 and she is 26...stop hating on this guy and give him his props. Enjoying that Life before checking out. Having a form of right relationship is the critical key to longevity and too many U.S. men have either opted out or been beaten down and defeated. Too many older men in the U.S. hate on their brothers instead of sharing information and helping each other out. In the end its all the same for MANY...this guy got divorced, faulty or not, and found a way to make it work for himself instead of being defeated by the system. Good luck and thanks for posting.

      Exactly. 35-year-old Western women will hate on her and him for being happy and smiling and living a great life. All while saying where have all the good men gone? Meanwhile she thinks it is unthinkable for a woman to ever serve her husband or children.

      I have a wife in the Philippines now when you can get apartments at less than $200 a month I'm not impressed by that try paying 350 a month getting a $112 a week like I did $600 a month budget I'm not impressed by that in the Philippines ..I've been to the Philippines over 5 times have a wife and son in iligan city thats easy for a man that's lived like me I make 550 a week now I was living like a king every time I went there and spent almost 6 months every time which was a difference from 112 a week Putting aside a little over $75 just to make $350 a month rent try doing that for a all utilities included studio for 350 a month

    interesting to note, my wife and I considered the possibility of having to bring my mother with us when we moved to the Philippines to enjoy her last days--she was suffering from dementia at the time, was in poor health, and funds for her grouphome care were diminishing quickly. Had she not passed when she did, an option would have been bringing her with us to the Philippines to live out her days...similar to Randy's approach. She wouldn't be returning to the States again, and would be buried and interred here. But...it was just a thought...

    Qiang, loved how you magically disappeared and reappeared. It was kind of entertaining and distracted me from thinking about the 45 year age difference. I’m not mad. I actually think they look happy together. Why hasn’t the world got past age being more than a number? When will women be less criticized if they choose to date a younger man? Just wondering. I liked his budgeting idea of the daily amount of spending money in the jar. If you don’t spend it all, the balance could be tucked away for a rainy day. Thanks Dan for another informative video.

    Interesting comments. I lived their 15 years ago for 800 to 1200 a month. My friends still say you can get apartments for under a 100, but at that price point you will need a local to help you and it would be better if you had a family their as infrastructure to help guide you. As far as the comments living their with out a visa, I never did that but know quit a few people who did, when you get caught not much happens usually you go before a judge and if you are seen running a local business and supporting your family even if its on a budget they will not kick you out of the country. If your not supporting a local maybe it would be different though. The only reason you will get kicked out is doing something culturally bad, then youll get kicked out, or worse, but just living their supporting your family no. Cool videos keep them coming and thank you for the best content on the web for retiring or slow travel around the world.

    I stayed one time over my visa time. Not intentionally, I forgot how long i was there. At the airport as was leaving, the authorities just informed me that I had over stayed my visa. And instructed me to go to customs. They were very respectful, informed me how much I had to pay for over staying my visa. I paid that, which wasn’t that much. I boarded my plane ✈️. No issues and no problems. Since, I have returned several times. With no problems, now I am not saying a person doesn’t have to keep their visa up to date, I believe they should, but if someone forgets or delayed in paying, you will have to pay before you leave. The authorities are not running after you, you be responsible, and be respectful, don’t get into any kind of trouble. You will be okay. But remember if you decide to leave have some money set aside so you pay the fees, and depending on how long a person has stayed over will determine how much they will pay. Just pay and everything will work out fine.

      That guy Randy must have fees up in the hundreds after over staying 14 years. I think they may ban him if he's caught. It's one thing to make an honest mistake and overstay for a few days or weeks. You may get away with over staying months or a couple of years but 14 years?

At the airport I had to go to customs and pay for my visa stay that went over two days or maybe three, I don't remember. I pay about a hundred dollars, maybe a hundred and fifty. At the airport when they check a person passport and see a person has over stayed, they send them to customs at the airport. And a person is not leaving until they pay. And they have to pay in cash. No credit cards.

    Wow. Quite a story Dan.
    Randy says he's smart, but I don't know that bragging on YT how many years you've been in the country illegally (complete with a link to his website) is all that smart. Only for those who are happy to NEVER leave the country. I expect he'll be OK , as he pointed out, they generally don't go after overstayers, but rubbing in their noses on social media? Is very unwise.

      @Randy Wilson Thanks for the response Randy, and I understand what you are saying. For sure there are others doing the same thing across the country. As you said, they have never made much effort to force overstayers to leave. Maybe no effort at all, as far as I can tell. Not unless they're suspected of certain crimes.
      It's apparently also illegal to do charity work without government permission and registration, but again, just another law that's seldom - if ever - enforced.
      I'd be careful not to assume that just because things have been a certain way for a long time, that they will always stay the same though. Having a "plan B" is never a bad idea.
      Personally, I'd hate to be in that situation, since i love travel and want to continue traveling. It is an interesting option for those who are certain they never want to leave though. Would work in many developing countries I suspect.
      Best of luck

    600$ is around Php29,982. If you live in the province that is a lot. Depends on where you choose to live. Rent would be around 1500 - 15,000 pesos or more ( regular 1 bedroom house to condo unit). If you cook your own food that would save you a lot and will eat healthier. 800Php a day for 2 people a day is for me too much well if homemade.
    There are travel packages if you decide to go around and visit tourist spots. Cost 1500-5000Php. Depending on where you choose to go. Travel every month or two months. That is not bad at all. You can get life and health insurance which is not that expensive is very flexible and can be shouldered by the $600 budget.

    Living like him is a bad idea. The first time he needs a hospital, he will die if he has no money in his pocket. He is also very wrong that immigration doesn't care if you overstay, They even offer rewards to others to turn in those who overstay. Yes, a small overstay can be paid at the airport but he will owe thousands and thousands of dollars and if caught before the airport, he will find out immigration jail doesn't have aircon 24/7 so he might not survive. His admitting overstaying on video is shocking to me and a really bad idea.

    • @theuergGermain
      @theuergGermain 2 года назад +2

      @Randy Wilson Sorry but you are the one who is wrong. The 500 per month is the fine not the fee. You still have to pay your normal monthly tourist fees for the years you did not. So when you get caught you will be deported and black listed since you appear not to have the several thousands of dollars required.
      So you are the one giving bad information and unless someone thinks sitting in front of an aircon all day is fun, best they look at reality and trouble they can get into by following you.
      So if you think I am wrong, just trot your ass to immigration and tell them you want to pay up. Or are you afraid and living in fear?

Foreigners can only stay the maximum of 36 months then you have to go and pay 500 pesos exit fee where you can get it at BI. I did actually have work and earned a good retirement which is apparently something you never did. I can travel and take my partner out to eat all the time. You can do nothing for your partner and one day she will take that into consideration.
      Anyone who takes advice on how to live in poverty has to be very desperate like you. I have seen others like you come and go and it doesn't end well. They end up begging others for money to go home or to pay for health problems. A couple of them died because they could not get health care and their friends did not feel like paying the bills of someone who just did not work all their lives. You best start to turn off your aircon and start saving your pennies.
      Oh bye the way, Your Barangay ID has nothing to do with immigration. They are not connected in any way so they don't check your visa status. Only your address is what they care about.

      @@Jersey2WorldTravels I know that if your SSA check is less than $789 dollars, you can apply for SSI to make it $789 dollars. But if you are approved to receive both SSI and SSDI, SSI will dropped you if your SSDI/SSA is higher than $789.
      I knew a lot of SSA recipients that received from $500 and up monthly SSA check. I worked full time for 13 years in Wal-Mart as a casher, stocker and sales clerk. In 2016 I applied and was approved for SSDI. My first year monthly check was $970 dollars and $16 dollars of food stamps. This coming January my monthly check will be $1,058 dollars.
      If your SSA check is less than the poverty level, you are eligible to receive a food stamps of $30 if you pay rent. But if you own your home outright, you will only receive $16 dollars of food stamps.

      @Randy Wilson 7 kids and none of them cares to help their father at this stage of your life? That disgusted me with kids in America. I have 4 and just that. I've known a lot of kids in America are just that in this generation. And they wonder why 34 tornados hit 8 states on the same day and killed over a hundred people (still counting) and level off grounds? It's a punishment and a correction to the wrongs we're doing in this world. I hope everyone will care a little bit more for everyone from this time on. God Bless.

    You'll be fine living there with expired visa. You have $800 dollars monthly go to the Philippines economy. Better than nothing. Better than the Chinese actually, because Chinese do not spend a centavo to the Philippines economy. Their food is coming from China and if they buy something, it has to be from the Chinese store where their money goes back to China.
    To the Philippines Immigration; leave the old man alone. He cost no harm to our country but handling us $800 dollars a month of his SSA.

    • @chrisjuricichxl5

      @@pedrozatravel we also figured that even were we to have stayed in the USA, our combined SS income coupled with any available PT jobs or..even continuing to work and deferring SS for awhile, living in the States would have required moving out of CA to a cheaper state, and if either of us came down with any debilitating health problem, even if we had health insurance, any long-term care facility would have virtually bankrupted us despite everything. Yah, we have savings and investments but it would quickly evaporate. Instead--we moved here, built our retirement house, are staying legally with a PRA visa (thankfully) and...retired! NOT working.

    • @ariefraiser140
      @ariefraiser140 2 года назад +7

      You don't need perfect health to live overseas. There are lots of countries with as good or better Healthcare systems as the US for what ails most expats at a much cheaper price. And when it comes to prescription drugs which is the medical care a majority of expats would need it's ridiculously cheap compared to the US.
      Once you get to highly specialized technical healthcare like organ transplants that's likely where it would be better to be in the US but let's be honest. For a majority of guys like Randy they wouldn't be able to afford the cost of something like that even with Medicare. At a certain point in time you just have to go out and make the most of your remaining years instead of trying to live as long as possible but live in misery in the process.
