After reading the announcement, all the comments saying "+5% research, -5% pop happiness" are quite funny. New player crisis _and_ new endgame crisis? I might actually have to start playing again.
This expands on a really interesting concept, that I was really wanting to see for a while now. In sci-fi, there is no reason for galactic empires to abide by any external regulation whatsoever, the only reason you can't break a truce, exploit resources to the absolute maximum as machines, use overpowered technology and etc is purely because of game balancing, and limits to the game's scope. This idea, expands so much on the concept of unhinged, galactic threats spawning out of empires in a way that feels much more meaningful than the previous player crisis, and genocidal empires, since one just wants to explode the galaxy for... some reason? and the others still abide by the game's balancing to not be overpowered. This seems like a more reasonable goal of just conquering and assimilating everything in the galaxy, for the reason of machine directives, and unbound by the game's usual laws. I can't wait for this DLC.
The exploding the galaxy thing makes sense in context since the end goal is to pretty much use that to ascend to world with different laws of physics. The blowing up the galaxy part is just the side effect. It's basically a group saying they don't give a damn about everyone else as long as they get to become space gods to live forever. The new crisis seems to be less about conquering everyone because there has to be an end goal to why they need so much processing power. It's likely some wonky timeline stuff or split universe stuff given it talks about Horizons which reminds me of event horizon and the theories on how universes could be created in one.

- title decodes to 'OwCyZ8r', description 'RlYPCZuY9cZQVuE0zwL1mKa5G4axzQSxavxd7xHV2p5178PFADCC11QAwcs+4nxyqerNMcDlc1AxRDLlr6Ae6WsAZFAEOnIAPbI2Nf1dRhx/3S/PxhIBDBfLnuXljhT1IK7XFWRv60vBeWTfa4jpDbXi3WvzochfPrqg='
- the text in the description ends in '=' and uses characters in the range A-Za-z0-9+/, indicating base64-encoded data
- but, the length of a base64 string always has to be divisible by 4-- the length of the description text is 165 chars long.
- if we concatenate the title and the description (so 'OwCyZ8rRlYPCZuY9cZQVuE0zwL1mKa5G4axzQSxavxd7xHV2p5178PFADCC11QAwcs+4nxyqerNMcDlc1AxRDLlr6Ae6WsAZFAEOnIAPbI2Nf1dRhx/3S/PxhIBDBfLnuXljhT1IK7XFWRv60vBeWTfa4jpDbXi3WvzochfPrqg='), the string is now 172 characters long which is divisible by 4.
- if we decode this, we get 128 bytes of random high-entropy data
- completely random data with a length divisible by 16 indicates a modern block cipher like AES being used
- since this is a modern cipher, the best attack you can do against this is just 'guess the key'
- if they used an online site to encrypt it (google "encrypt text online" you'll see what i mean), the key can be of any length, but if they directly encrypted it the key has to be 16, 24, or 32 characters long
Any luck finding the key?
@@bankenichinot so far, no. puzzles using these "online encryption" sites has become common enough that i decided to make a site to check most of them at once at aHR0cHM6Ly9jb3JnaS5yaXAvZGl2ZQ== (base64-encoded or else youtube deletes my comment), so if you have any ideas you can try them out there (although you'll still need to manually check aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lsbG1laXN0ZXItc29mdHdhcmUuY29tL29ubGluZS10b29scy90ZXh0L2VuY3J5cHQtZGVjcnlwdC10ZXh0LmFzcHg=, which i haven't managed to reverse engineer the encryption yet).
@@bankenichi it could be the binary from the previous: " STELLARIS TEASER| Into the light". When it pops out at the end, there are 4 columns in each column 4 rows are bit brighter. All together 8 bytes horizontally or 16 if accounted for horizontally
"Congratulations! You've solved the binary code riddle. Here's your reward: FLAG{B1n4ry_qu3st_solved!}" is the solution i got as you sad ACII to Base 64. Bruteforced it with a english dictionary integrated in python code and some regulations for example specific words like "the" "FLAG"

yes, and it's response to talk at show that.
I asked GPT chat to remove non-standard characters, and here's what I got: the video title above, and the description below.
And another option she saw here - EightSeeyouNextWeek
Can we get some real focus on the console side?
The new guys (haven't learned their name yet) still need time to learn and adapt Tantalus' work.
Console is already 18 months behind and we will be over 2 years by the time we get First Contact later in '24.
Ah, the Necron DLC
from the moment i understood the weakness of my flesh it disgusted me
Hehe i love tht voice intro at the start up of the game Mechanicus.
Was that Legion's (Mass Effect) voice actor?
The Swedes finally reveal their master plan! THE BJORG!
We are the BJORG. Lower your shields and surrender your home depo. We will add your furniture and decoration distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service our vast catalogue. Resistance is futile.
@@Bayofthe91stLOL! I love it.
OK. Who's translating the binary?
I already translated and all it says is OwCyZ8r
@@prime1126 It's not just binary. It's an encoded message. The image is also encoded as well.
i think you already made a robot dlc, paradox
At long last what I wanted so much. The Empire of intelligent non-Gestalt machines. AI rules all.
"Citien with an IQ of 120 or above must report for duty at once" more like "Population without full citizenship must report to the local officials for indefinite resettlement"
I hope there will be a psionic rework in this DLC too.
Stellaris: Become the Cyborg Overlord!
BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER WITH MUSIC AGAIN
Voice at the beginning sounds like legion
That's definitely legion, had the same thought right away
Machine empire update

Haunting and horrifying. As a father I wept. Best Stellaris trailer to date.
I couldn't help but notice that the Horizon Needle has employed a quantum singularity at the back. Do you think they are using it as a power source, or a new means of propulsion?
Looks like a new propulsion method using space-time warp. A black hole reactor needs much smaller singularity to work
look up "black hole ships" by isaac arthur, those things are hard sci fi and actually achievable with current physics
Steam page actually has interesting stuff. I am excited for what basically looks like mechanicus origin. Should have been a civic though
This is the Stellaris equivalent of "My dad just left to get cigarettes at the gas station. He will be back any day now..."
I- hold up... is that a matrix
I'm too lazy to translate, but I really love robots and so on, it was not in vain that I bought the DLS. intrigued
Second player crisis path AND a new endgame crisis ?! Lets gooooooo
is that horizon needle a proper BLACK HOLE SHIP ?
The beginning of the Dark Age of Technology.
it carries a miniature BLACK HOLE IN THE BACK
Hear me out Paradox. Add to your games Legacy DLC Pass that costs the same amount as the base game.
This pass would contain ALL dlcs that are older than year, so it would automatically include older dlcs with time. You still would be able to sell newest expansions for full price to players who are playing game regularly and people who had longer break would be happy to test new content knowing that they have all previous dlcs from the Legacy DLC Pass.
is the horizon needle carrying a singularity on its back
Organics: How could anyone do something so horrible?
Machine Eradicators: (shrugs, and proceeds with Galactic Genocide)
This better be the score this is fire
Mr. Anderson...
I never get hyped for video games anymore.
For this, I am insanely hyped.
My guess on reddit for the DLC title is Cults & Cogs. Let see how close i was. Edit: Oh well, praise omnissiah.
We are closer to having more lore accurate Daleks now.
Megamind true lore
Marathon Infinity reference!?!?!?!
Please make that a shipset, it looks so cool.
