Nice job HANDS! I definitely seek out your videos, reviewing you guys cut n kick experience/ expertise! Many of us in the trade are not put in a situation very often where this approach, is the only option available! Obviously, you guys typical work location demands this skill set. Id be interested in a video on a breakdown of your thought process when approaching these types of pole changeouts. In essence I'm curious what you look for, and typical focuses as far as securing the existing pole once cut if only one Line Truck can be utilized during the set up. Anyway, you guys be safe, fine work, and keep the knowledge transfer lines open! Ill stay tuned for more videos!
Wazzup longboard well about the thought process it’s kinda of when you have looked at or run out of options that make sense to cut-N-kick the pole , well that’s when we all decided after talking about it and came up with that plan and hoping and praying that it turns out that way , and minimal problems in setting the pole. But there’s never a real wrong way to do it but the conditions of the situation and location will direct us in how did it.. hopefully that makes sense to you..
Wazzup asan if you don’t think it is can you please explain how they do a cut and kick at the utility you work for , so maybe I can learn another way it’s done , thanks
@linemanundergroundworld4854 sure. A cut and kick is when we utilize the existing pole to hold up the conductors and comm. At the base of the pole you mount a xarm about 1' off the ground to pole with 2 bolts and cut the pole under bolts, kick the pole over to one side and stand it on xarm like a peg leg. You'd have to travel up the comm and untie phases and secure to pole with guts so the pole can slide over. And tagline pole so it stays upright. Pull pole butt, dig, set new pole and transfer. We cut and kick poles if phases float too low or its a end of line deadend pole(energized). We call your method same hole set. Good job though I'd done the same thing on that pole. Good content.
@@anthonycepeda-o5p wazzup @user your thoughts are right, but remember the figure of speech ( cut N kick ) is to put the pole back in the same spot, if you can do it safely by leaving the heavy transformer on the pole while your moving it off to the side and taking a chance it might come loose or be in the way because you want to leave everything on , that’s not always the best way or if possible to move the phases out to cut one of the arms to make a window, and every cut N kick is always different and the safest way , we do our best to mitigate all the possible problems to do the job as you see in the video, minimal movement with our bucket trucks in the alley, so remember there is always going to be a better way according to the job location and description.. that’s for visiting my channel…
@@linemanundergroundworld4854 "Cut and kick" is when you scab crossarms at ground level, cut the pole about 4ft up and stand it off on the cross arm like a peg leg. This is done so you can same hole set while leaving the existing pole intact and just to the side. held up by a 2nd digger or ropes to w/e.
Aces!!!!!! Brothers showing how it’s done. Love the variety you guys have. Most utility guys are lazy sacks. Not LADWP!!
Wazzup linehand hope all is well with you over there and thank you greatly appreciate it…

Same hole set looks like a 6 man crew. Not cut in kick. Good job.

@@linemanundergroundworld4854 the pole replacement in this video is just a "same hole set" (to me) everybody's different i guess.
