    Miss, one doubt. Feeling sleepy, the baby cried. Idhula feeling sleepy enbadhu dangling participle ?

    • @EnglishwithVennila
      @EnglishwithVennila  3 года назад +1

      No, it's not a dangling participle because it refers only to the baby which was feeling sleepy. The baby is the subject of the sentence.

    Can we write I threw the pen which was broken..

  • @thavamani3359
    @thavamani3359 3 года назад +1

    Mam, 5th sentence. Being broken, I threw the pen. Why don't we write like this

    • @EnglishwithVennila
      @EnglishwithVennila  3 года назад

      If we write a sentence like that, it means that we were broken and not the pen.
      But the sentence is meaningful!

      Being broken I threw the pen. Ezudalama?

    • @EnglishwithVennila
      @EnglishwithVennila  Год назад

      "Being broken" refers to "I" if you write like that. But the sentence is correct. It's not the same as
      The pen being broken, I threw it.
      Or
      I threw the broken pen.

    Or..
    Having lived alone,he forgot everybody

    • @EnglishwithVennila
      @EnglishwithVennila  Месяц назад

      Yes, both are correct but the first one makes sense only if there's another past action (that takes the simple past) in the context.

    "Being broken, I threw the pen", can we say something like this.
    Throwing the pen, it got broken. (But given question sentence does not exactly mean this)

    Can we write like...Being broken, I threw the pen

    • @EnglishwithVennila
      @EnglishwithVennila  4 года назад +3

      Yes, you can, but the sentence will mean that you were broken, not the pen!
      But the sentence makes sense. You threw the pen because you were broken and you had no interest in writing anything...
