Like A Version is a segment on Australian radio station triple j. Every week a musician or band comes into the studio to play one of their own songs and cover a song they love.

One of the best vocal and guitar solos ever on a like a version.
The sheer passion in the vocal interrupted me as I was deep in my work, drafting a legal document. I had to stop. What had been some background radio now took over everything. I love it when a song comes out of nowhere and takes you. This is a beautiful, mesmerising vocal. The band behind it are tight and really hold it down. I could have asked for a bit more of a Neil Murray (the English bass player) type bass presence, but I get that the point is to underplay so that the vocal really shines. Thanks for making my day into something I will remember forever.
The way he modulates his voice is top tier, he’s not giving you everything all at once, it’s subtle, then he goes full throttle, then back to idle. That’s what the great singers do, and he’s right up there, and he’s a great guitarist as well. What a talent!!

Triple j have edited this video since I commented so I'll update my comment to '4:32 engage beast mode'.. That section when he goes off is art. Like proper art, that you see or feel or hear. Post script, why have the j's edited most of the old like a version clips. The into banter with the dj's was a good bit to watch

Dare I say this sounded a bit restrained? Boy & Bear it sounded like they could belt it out, but these guys could run all over the top of them if they played any harder. Not sure it was the cover to go for.
don't underestimate the shred capabilities of that quiet indie folk band - they're a different beast live.
That's what I meant - this performance was a bit tame.
The whole point is not to do a straight cover - it's to put your own take on it.

the boy and bear version is much more subdued, i love them and recently saw them live (3 weeks ago) it was much more subtle than this, did you watch it to the end? he is screaming at one point.........
