13:35 if at any point in time, you cant have a group of 50+ players randomly run passed you while you are doing something in an open world area, its not an mmo mmo in my definition is people are able to be everywhere outside of certain spots, and the problem with mmos is they tend to work better when you make those certain sports the norm so the game is even less mmo then normal. lets take guild wars as an example. the meta for guild wars is not open world its instances, however massive 100+ person battles in the open world still happen, to me this is what makes an mmo an mmo.
14:30 you make them mandatory group you loose people who dont want to play like that, you remove the mandatory group you no longer have a game thats fun damned if you do damned if you dont I think games should focus on 2 man teams, have a menchanic for you to have an npc fill that roll, and have 4-6 people in a group, and be able to fill a group with 3 people and 3npcs if you are hurting. this makes it easy to gear content to be a bit more difficult, gives players enough backup to be able to do content, and when content actually gets hard, group up with real players to fill roles npcs just dont do well in.
@@GeorgeMonet forgot to put 2 at the end of it but yea, guild wars 2 is great for this, but if you aren't on the current world boss track, you don't see other players often, even in more recent content. kind of sad given the whole game was built around that concept, but most people who play daily likely already have everything done for that content.

@@joshholmes1372 you could say that yeah, but from a loot box perspective that's correct, though gachapon's name has been tarnished by many games, the "gotcha money" term doesn't apply to most gacha games as many of these types of games follow gachapon style mechanics than loot box style mechanics which happens to be how some gacha games name theirs. Pre registration doesnt mean players or people though, people often create multiple accounts for gacha games and then keep whichever one had the best beginning rolls (because rewards are heavioly front loaded)
The best way I can describe this game is that it plays like how Genshin haters think Genshin plays like. The combat is super clunky, the audio isn't configured correctly and warps, the movement is clunky, the camera is clunky. The game was heavily marketed as a Genshin killer in the early days but it is nowhere close in quality or refinement or passion, coming from a former Genshin player.
Genshin is clunky garbage. Gameplay feels like ass and gacha is much worse in genshin. Whale game that doesn't even have PvP. This game is far from perfect. The audio is really screwed up pretty often and there's a good amount of bugs.. but it's got time. Not even full release and it's more enjoyable than genshin.
I played this last night and its pretty fun. Yeah its a gacha system but they give you stuff for almost anything so 10 minutes of playing and then you realize you have enough for 10 rolls. Never played genshin so I cannot compare but its a solid 8/10 from me right now.
Yeah, but this game has actually 3 different gacha banners. Purple (low tier), Golden (mid tier) and Red (top tier). Most gachas just have 2 currencies for banners, this actually has 3
Every gacha game that I've played so far is very generous at the start to give you a sense that it's going to be like that for the entirety of the game's lifespan. Im not saying the game is bad but the generosity at the start is very common.
Except it's not just early on. I've played to the current level cap and yes it does slow down, but if you keep at it and explore the zones then you'll find that you'll literally be generating the gacha currency just by opening chests or finding it tucked away in places. It's really not that hard at all to get the gacha currency in this game, although the red-tier gacha is much harder to get normally when compared to the purple and yellow tier.
@@navyblustick7758 But do the chests respawn? Exploring is a fine way to generate gacha currency except for the fact that it's a limited resource. Once you've explored everything (will take a long time considering the size of the game mind you) then that way to get gacha currency is gone. Unless they continually add more regions but other than that you'll have to rely on events the game will (idk if it's for certain but I hope it will) have to give you a decent amount where you don't feel left behind as an f2p. Note: Before anyone takes it the wrong way, I'm not saying the game should spoil us generously with the currency. It's a free game so they have to make money somehow, I expect and am ok with the fact they might be a bit reserved when they give it out for free. All I'm saying is I don't want f2p's struggling to clear content while the p2w can clear it no problem.
pre-reg to get the rewards, then piss off for a month and see if its not DOA or leveraging all of its value on FOMO. played it for about an hour, kind of left me feeling meh. the intro didn't greatly impress me, forgetable characters, no clear motivation for why you're there or why I should be interested in playing to find out. The VA is decent; but the mixing and editing is terrible, with sentences getting clipped off and the text not matching the voice lines. The combat movement is good, but the animations feel a bit jank overall. The aesthetic is good and the colors pop, but it feels like the actual texture resolution is sub-par (looks kinda...i dunno...muddy?). the music and sound design were way to extra. dont need to bring out the horns for every little thing, and once again the mixing was terribad. overall it just left me feeling like I was playing a really well put together asset flip. hard to describe, felt kinda souless? 100% feels like a mobile game with PC characteristics, rather than full PC release that happens to run on mobile.
The only reason I love MMOs is because the worlds are massive, the content is massive. I love games like Zelda botw and Witcher, Elden ring etc. But they are all small in comparison to MMOs. For me my dream would be a single player mmo lol. Like wow but scaled for single players, raids for single players etc. Wow is probably the biggest rpg world ever made, there’s no other game with that much content. Hit lvl 27 today, so far the gacha mechanics aren't too bad. Two things really hurting the experience for me though. 1. Some bosses are just terrible. Frost Bot has a spin where he freezes those around him. You can break people out of it using fire-weapons. However, the aoe on the freeze feels like it's half the arena... it's just far too big. 2. Some exploration mechanics are time-locked. Pods, for instance, are spheres that contain loot and can only be looted a single per account. Some pods won't unlock for several RL days making you not want to do _any_ exploration until all the locks in a zone are over. I think the starter zone fully unlocks by tomorrow, but the second zone fully unlocks in about 50 more hours.
Yeah Frostbot's freeze seems to be a mechanics intended to punish the group for failing the dps check, but then there's also the problem of not enough time thawing people out of the one-shot freeze, why even put it in the first place if there's barely anytime to do it.
Hey mate its actually really cool how they set up the world like with the slowdown time if you notice the dome over the character its only slowed in that dome thats how it gets around other players near by :D

13:35 if at any point in time, you cant have a group of 50+ players randomly run passed you while you are doing something in an open world area, its not an mmo
mmo in my definition is people are able to be everywhere outside of certain spots, and the problem with mmos is they tend to work better when you make those certain sports the norm so the game is even less mmo then normal. lets take guild wars as an example. the meta for guild wars is not open world its instances, however massive 100+ person battles in the open world still happen, to me this is what makes an mmo an mmo.
14:30 you make them mandatory group you loose people who dont want to play like that, you remove the mandatory group you no longer have a game thats fun
damned if you do damned if you dont
I think games should focus on 2 man teams, have a menchanic for you to have an npc fill that roll, and have 4-6 people in a group, and be able to fill a group with 3 people and 3npcs if you are hurting. this makes it easy to gear content to be a bit more difficult, gives players enough backup to be able to do content, and when content actually gets hard, group up with real players to fill roles npcs just dont do well in.
GW2 allows for some big multi stage open world events where lots of players can participate at once.

Genshin is one game that follows the original gachapon style mechanics, sure each product they sell is in fact expensive, the point of gacha is to gamble to get the product cheaper than the asking price. Hence the pity system.

Whenever i go back to windwaker and play it for some hours, i can't believe how "new" it feels like it just looks good anytime even tho it's already such an old game. Just amazing
people keep saying this game is pushing boundaries and I just dont see it
name one big innovation Tower of Fantasy has to the gacha formula or even just action RPG's
It made people not immediately see its an assetflipped genshin impact
Id say thats pretty groundbreaking
Funnily enough it's not even pushing the boundaries of P2W mechanics, totally mediocre
The game was heavily marketed as a Genshin killer in the early days but it is nowhere close in quality or refinement or passion, coming from a former Genshin player.
omg finally someone who gets it
Genshin is clunky garbage.
That’s how they get you, free stuff early
Can Genshin just sponsor Asmon now?
Another action RPG with shiny graphics and pay to win gambling?

Where’d my controller go? I gotta try this…

the intro didn't greatly impress me, forgetable characters, no clear motivation for why you're there or why I should be interested in playing to find out.
Most open world games get like 1 dlc or 2 and are done and the great thing about MMOs is that we get content for years, the only bad thing is it’s a multiplayer

The fact that Asmon ends this video by defending pay to win really shows how far he's gone.
To be fair, from what I've seen this game is "pay to get ahead" the only area where the whales win out would be PvP really.

Asmond: Oh so you can't climb that high..
The trick: Am I a joke?!

Much better than Genshin for me. I like that we can make a character. And I'd much rather just play my character then swap between pre set game characters.
The characters look like fish out of water honestly, this cyberpunk design doesn't match this landscapes full of nature. I'd expect a futuristic city...

I can't believe they released genshin impact 2
It's not even close
@@Jev_the_fluorescent_shrimp Its literally the same gacha system aswell as equipment leveling
@@csseldne2326 so? It's the system of most gachas
Nevertheless tof doesn't have such a well-written story, massive lore, endearing characters, unique and diverse environmental design, amazing music. Genshin does have all of this, every detail matters in genshin.
Combat system in tof is also not very comfortable, quite boring even... Genshin's one is far superior.
So.....
I've never heard of it either but I don't make female characters. I think they might be limiting their player base.
Yoooo I've been pre registered to this game and it just came out! Made my character and everything lol
Man they even used the same exact gimmick for picking between male/female MC as Genshin.
Woah alright I guess genshin owns the gender thing now in games huh
@@mailadelrosario9462 You didn't know that? Genshin invented genders!
@@kugelblitznb1682 I guess you could say the community did 😂
@@mailadelrosario9462 The gimmick I'm referring to is not having male or female MC. It's having a short action sequence with an explosion set up the premise in the game where the male and female MC get blown away and separated, asking you to pick one.
@@del46_60 Isn't that pretty normal? I guess every game who does that is now a genshin ripoff 🤔
I just got two ssr starting the game. A girl with a ring weapon and a another with the ice staff pretty cool to me
This games got water boarding?!?!, Count me in! *Fortunate Sun intensifies*
I'm just guessing but is this made by the same company that made genshin? The terrain of the world, the textures of the world the power progression system, visual effects, dungeon system all look exactly like genshin.
Its not, but its VERY "inspired" by it.
The just copied everything but failed to make it great like genshin did
This game is just genshin impact with sci-fi vibes, definitely not what I'd called an "mmo"
I play the game for two hours, is very mid, i dont know if was a bug, but the FPS drop like crazy, which is funny when i can run RDR2 without a problem.
i got 120 fps consistently, on a rx 6600, are u playing on PC?
@@thomasre9382 Yes, i play on a GTX 1660, never had a problem with games in Unreal Engine 4, i dont know if was the busy server's or something else.
20 bucks says this game will be forgotten in a month.
I made already the two first regions exploration.
I'm gonna end the third today.
I don't see many men getting past waifu customization screen anytime soon!
Kid free weekend, downloading this, steak and few stubby beers chillax
I give it a 6/9
Test it, mi phone can run Honokai impact no problem, and is two years old, and these thing in a server, that was low, maybe they didint put as much intrest in south american server, but lag, choopy, the combat is no where near as good as honokai, is not bad, but these high launching a game that is not optimal in all the servers is not good
Now i cant say im F2P since i bought the battlepass. But honestly if one does not have a constant urge to spend money, its actually a fine game to put a few hours a day, and it certainly scratches that itch of completionist for me, tho i find the timegating annoying yet understand why it is implemented, because there are people would would nolife it and clear the entire game in two days :D. tho a F2P player should not expect to have all the best items, and be top tier in pvp, in pve as well naturally a whale will carry a f2p and would be higher dps, this is a gatcha game IT IS P2W thats the whole thing the game is made around. still its a fine game to sink some hour in till something else comes out, and maybe maaaaybe stick around if it does not get worse.
