The watch rarely ever needs to be restored on its own. 9.5/10 times a person has the phone it’s paired to and you can reset the watch from the connected phone. If for whatever reason you lost the phone it’s connected to, which I would think is a bigger problem than the watch, then you can just have the watch on the charger, hold a couple of buttons, and it’ll reset. If you are in a situation like this and Google “how to reset Apple Watch” or how to reset Apple Watch without phone” one of the top results is apples website which shows how to reset the watch in different scenarios like: 1. Have watch and phone 2. No phone but have watch 3. No phone have watch but don’t know passcode Etc.

The actual problem with that message is that even if you have the setting turned off, where it’ll reset the watch after too many passcode attempts, it’ll force you to reset it anyway. Can’t tell you how many time I had to put my watch in my pocket at work and I pulled it out and it needed to be reset. Sometimes it only took about an hour or less
Alright, sounds annoying and all - but _why_ would you ever put your watch into your pocket? Isn’t the…whole point? Of a watch? That it’s on your arm at all times? It’s waterproof, extremely sturdy, battery lasts two full days on a charge, it has a strap to hold itself in place. Also its singular advantage over a phone is that it’s strapped to your arm rather than going in your pocket. What possible reason could you have for keeping it in your pocket, ever, let alone often enough that you’ve needed to reset it multiple times?
@sparky6757 I work in construction. I've scratched and cracked a couple of apple watches at work. So when I know I'm gonna be working hard like that, I just put it in my pocket. Or some jobs in the refineries, you're not supposed to have cellular watches. Usually no one cares but a couple of asshole supervisors do so when you're around them you'll just throw the watch in your pocket.

literally no reason why the apple watch couldn't be charged with contacts (yes, exactly like the hidden port - just like charging a fitbit). this would also reduce thickness of those chunky boys (the wireless charging coil significantly adds to the depth), increase charging speed because wireless charging sucks, increase the lifespan of the battery because wireless charging heats up devices and sucks and would allow for a bigger battery

You dont actually need to do this. If you have back-up of your Apple Watch, you can just reset it through the Watch app on your iPhone and re-pair it. It will prompt you to restore from a pervious backup and boom there ya go

Go to your watch app and delete the watch from your phone and it automatically resets and then just connect again I done the same thing to my watch one time (I realized while typing this I didn’t lock my watch I just forgot my password and didn’t wanna risk locking the watch)

You can reset the software without connecting it to a computer. Hold down the side button until you see ”slide to power off”, and then hold the Digital Crown pressed down. It will ask if you want to factory reset the software.

When I worked at Apple in AZ, they gave me Samsung tablets and phones to design all hydraulic and chemical systems Apple needed to make the screens and test their products... 7 people almost dead and they changed the building name and IDs to GT Mechanical over the weekend except the inside logos and threatened lawsuits to engineers if we speak to the press that people got hurt all because Apple likes shortcuts, and they are the cheapest and most disturbing tech company I've ever worked for and will never work again and even their own engineers can't stand new Apple products because we know whats in it and they spend 20% on actual tech and 80% on advertising to convince simple minded people that it's the newest and best tech...
For restoring a forgot passcode on Apple Watch all you need to do is boot recovery and tell it to erase. This should only be necessary during a failed update. I did wonder how the repair depots did this though.

These aren’t even for repair. They were for Apple to do diagnostics. They don’t have them anymore, also it’s pins not ports.
There’s an easier way, you go to the shut down screen and hold the crown down, that will give you an option to factory reset

Apple has white sleds for these where you don’t need to remove the cap to connect to iTunes. Mainly used to DFU and program floor model watches
