He is harboring a criminal who killed his sons and daughters.He deserve whatever karma he gets. He was never on Ruyi’s side althought he knows that Ruyi been framed and innocent.He wants to be free of Ruyi’s constant reminders of his wrong doings and he did not appreciate her. I am glad of the ending that Ruyi got rid of him completely after she cut her hair. She was completely over him and do not want anything to do with him. She did not take her scroll and treasure chest back.
My favourite part of this drama is when Ling says exactly that to his face and you can see this dude realize “oh shoot yea I did do that…. I really am that bad.”

I’d also argue that whomever the actor is, he’s good enough at this role that you love to hate him. That’s hard to do but he really manages it. That’s skill!

Assuming the cutting hair incident is true (that could easily have been made up to further villainize Nala), I would love to know Nala's side of the story. "She went nuts" doesn't cut it. To often, it turned out the man did something really stupid or really awful and that's why his ex "went nuts".

Hence she was erased. 2) She was his oldest/earliest wife other than the queen. So when the queen died she got promoted to be the new queen. It had nothing to do with how the emperor felt about her. And supposedly she was behaving in an arrogant way even the emperor couldnt ignore anymore. So she was erased. 3) The emperor missed the old queen so much during the trip, that Nara felt neglected and thus cutting off her hair. First 2 are more of the emperor's public account of what had happened. Other theories are what people speculated which shared striking similarity to what happened in Ruyi. I think Ruyi as a story is closest to Naras side.

After watching yanxi palace this seems less believable considering consort ling never chased after the emperor where as Ruyi/Nara was the evil one
