Mickey's a tough guy so he has to pretend like he only did it because Ian forced him to but I think he wanted to and he knew it, and he wasn't going to let Ian get by just because he was being a coward and afraid of being who he is just like Ian told him. I think what Ian said it finally clicked in his head that that's exactly what he had been doing. He played off Coming Out as something Ian forced him into but the way he does it and his facial expressions I think Ian’s words hit him home and he realized he has wanted to do this for a long, long time and he himself was tired of hiding who he was and pretending to be someone he wasn’t. It just took a bit of a shove to force him to finally do it.
I disagree. Real courage would have been to stand up to his dominating boyfriend who was trying to use their relationship as leverage to get him to do things he didn't want to do. Anyone who would do that isn't someone you want to be in a relationship with.

Yeah, I agree. I have mixed feelings about Svetlana. She's definitely not a good person, but no one in the show is, so I'm still trying to figure out what level of bad person she is when compared to the main cast.

I love how this show starts as a love story fro Fiona, her and Steve being the main couple, with Ian and Mickey as the side cast drama. Then the show dedicates itself to Ian and Mickey in the later seasons, and ends with them.
Mickey was probably the best character written in the show. Or its just a testament to how well Noel Fisher acted this role.
This aged well, considering that it was 10 years since this episode aired.

Best gay characters written. Other shows and movies make their characters gay for the sake of being gay so it comes off as lazy and cheap. But Ian and Mickey have a dichotomy that other series need to take notes of.
