I wasted a ton of attempts looking for the coins in practice mode before noticing on the leaderboard that no one had completed the level without getting all three coins. Once I saw this I assumed that they had to be free, which they are at the very end - they're just invisible.
Once again I really wish the coin collection animation would show in practice mode because this would have saved me a lot of wasted time looking for coins unnecessarily. Bleh.
