I was just given my grandfather's H B 4 1/2 lb double bit axe. I stumbled across your channel while researching this awesome tool. I have sent HB pictures and a description of it as i have so far been unable to find it in any literature or on the vintage portion of HB's sight. My grandfather's axe is going to need some love. The head looks to be in good shape and just needs some rust removal. I think the head needs to be hung as the handle is dry and the head is louse. I look forward to trying my hand at the restoration after I attempt it with a old hatchet that doesn't mean as much to me. Thank you for all of the content that you put out, I really enjoyed your channel.

Please let us not forget Wetterlings. I have huge respect for GB and Ray Mears for his adoption of the brand to his company. Wetterlings was a smaller company making top notch axes, in recent years they upped their game with the arrival of Julia Kalthoff as the CEO. In this period some very good models of axe were developed and became popular, such as the Les Stroud Bushman Axe, the Outdoor Axe (#118) the Hudson Bay Axe and the Fine Forester's Axe. All of these models have received excellent reviews. Unfortunately it appears the output of these axes was not sufficient to compete with the likes of GB, HB/ Hultafors and they were taken over by GB this year. Unless I am mistaken, Wetterlings models will notbe produced by GB. It is worth checkingout some of the videos on RUclips of Wetterlings and Julia Kalthoff.. Thanks Billy and all subscribers for your interest.
Glad you liked Sweden. There is another company that makes handmade axes in Sweden and it is Wetterlings. co-operates with Granfors Bruk. Wetterling's axes are popular in Bushcraft people. Three famous Swedish axes on the world market. ;)
You mentioned the other day about collaborating with a blacksmith and making some " hand forged Buckin Specials" . I guess a local BC option is preferred but There's a couple of guys in Oregon ( reasonably close to you) who might be able to help you? He's called Essential Craftsman ( Scott Wadsworth ) who also has a friend Cy who is an old hand. Very easy to find on web. Over and out . Nice job on the axe Buckin !
HB does have the Classic line, I went to a shop to compare one against a ''standard'' and the difference was night and day, so was the price of course. But damn, the classic just felt better and it also comes with a razor sharp mirror polished edge.

And because of that, my guess is that it is the name of a person, possibly the one who created it
"Ahl" is a family name here in Sweden (and maybe in some parts of Finland to) so the "C" could be the first letter in the birth name

Apparently within only hours of Billy escaping detainment unnoticed the Swedes conducted a huge military exercise try to recapture him.
We used the hybrid for a silent exit, Sven had to ride an exercise bike all night to charge it up in the woods. Hehehehe
