I was posted in Kashmir for several decades hence attended many Kashmiri (both Muslim and Pandit), marriages. Fell in love with Kashmir and her people. Why blame me who would not? Who are the Kashmiris? They are pure indigenous Central Asian Aryans and many have now accepted a fine religion that is Semitic (Yehudi-Arab, children of Abraham) Islam. Thus, all is common between the Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims except religion. Even the marriage rituals though with subtle differences have much in common. I am originally from the Punjab though like most regions of India Kashmir and Punjab are diverse yet what I found common between us Jat-Sikhs and Kashmiris is like us the Kashmiris will rarely marry outside and the few who have are either pseudo-westernized or with family problems. Thus, they have maintained their pure ethnicity, culture, language, etc. God made the world diverse thus colorful and I travel a lot and note diversity is there to stay. Every nation has its pride. In Kashmir they refer to everyone from outside as Neburon and yet love and respect all people. A great culture
