I used to play native American flute, one night l was out playing and at least half a dozen screech owls showed up in the trees around me. I couldn't tell if they were agitated or just happy to talk to me. It was a great experience.

I sit quietly in the woods and can count on at least one owl just sitting across from me, just observing. They are so curious they can't help it. Also something spiritual about having owls join you. Great Horned owl is my spirit animal but they all seem to locate me. Always incredible.

I call in Barred Owls once in awhile with my bluetooth speaker, its spring here in New Hampshire and the owls have been quite active. Last Saturday I tried to call them in and got quite the surprise when 7 or 8 all swarmed where I was by the firepit. They were all around me with a few very close watching me and they were all hollering loudly, it was an awesome experience and scary at the same time with them swooping over my head trying to find the source of the calls, I’ll definitely have to record them next time…👍

Normal feeling when you hear another individual of your specie call in your territory for hours. This barred owl was hella confused and probably terrifed at the idea of having to tussle with another barred owl, or it was chasing a non-existing mate. Either way, it's pretty annoying shit. Totally understand why the Barred Owl would attack the closest source of the sound that's been taking all its energy and time.

Thank you for this you may have saved me from a bad situation as I keep telling my wife I'm gonna call one up..... and I've explained to her that they are capable of going right to where the sound is originating....... but just as an instinctive and observation based knowledge, little more than anecdotal evidence....
But to see it in person actually happen, not to a mouse or squirrel or other owl, but actually to the speaker tells me not to use my phone especially at night....
We are surrounded by barred owls and I have talked to them for years, just never had pull up on me that close yet...... was that in the wild wild or have you been with them a while?
