Mission accomplished. Through the viewfinder the out of focus floral patterns also looked interesting in color. And that Holga/Diana strap is traveling in rich company. 😊
Really brilliant Martin! Just shows that anything can be photographed to make interesting images if done in the right way with a creative mind looking through the camera. Should use your videos as a masterclass for all photographers who claim that there is nothing for them to photograph. An expensive state of the art camera absolutely does not make a photographer.
A friend of mine used to collect certain types of old cameras, and he has a Contax D with Biotar, exactly the item shown here. It's a very simple SLR camera. No return viewing mirror; no auto aperture lens diaphragm; no film advance lever. The Biotar was the premier normal lens for East German cameras of the mid to late 1950s, copied by many non-Zeiss lens makers of the day and sold in various forms for decades thereafter. The focus screen has no focus aids because the split image SLR focus aid was still several years away, and the microprism wouldn't appear for a decade. That course grained viewing image he mentions is what makes it easier to focus. As makers produced finer grained focus screens, the viewing appeared more natural, but the screens also became more troublesome to focus, leading to adding the early split image focus aids. A simpler camera for a simpler time.
What a way to start my morning. Beautiful photography. I like using my old nicor 35 1.4 for that same type of photography. I always have a hard time deciding between acros 100 and FP4. I like using rodinal for both, such a great developer. I really appreciate your creativity and your approach in your productions, very simple and elegant. You are well spoken and a fine man. Thank you for all you do sir.
Thank you for letting us see the way you work and look through your eyes! Stunningly beautiful pictures. I wouldn't worry about the AI and everything around it - it will only make the true human skill more valuable.
Brilliant pictures! Work of a master, nothing less. I' ve been doing something similar around my backyard, with my minolta open at f2 or so, but your technique of keeping the lens at one focus distance is something that seems far better than trying to focus with the focus ring, as i try to. I guess having a great focus screen helps a lot, like you say. I love Ilford Delta 100 for this. Thanks for great insight again, Martin! Cheers!
Excellent video as ever Martin, great idea and great pictures, beautifully presented. Your photographic knowledge knows no bounds. Garden knowledge perhaps needs a brush up- that Hollyhock is a Foxglove and that daisy is an Osteospermum! Hell, you can’t be good at everything!
Hallo Martin, inspirierenden Video 👍 Übrigens: in meiner Sammlung habe ich auch diese Kamera. Schon ein solides Stück Zeitgeschichte. Vielen Dank Und Grüße aus Berlin Matthias
Fantastic images Martin. You make it look so simple and indeed simple is often the best. There’s also no disputing the fact your keen eye and skill as a photographer had a lot to do with it.
Great work, Martin. I think you are quite right about AI, sadly. The future of classic photography is bleak indeed.
Mission accomplished. Through the viewfinder the out of focus floral patterns also looked interesting in color. And that Holga/Diana strap is traveling in rich company. 😊
Totally agree with the comments regarding using a basic camera for photography, far more satisfying too.
Beautiful images, very creative shooting techniques.

A fine set of images
thanks for the diafine recommendation - I thanked you in my recent article on 35mmc (Kodak Double-X and Contax RTS II)
Wonderful pictures!

Martin, you are a master photographer and an even greater film developer and printer. Nobody matches your creativity.
Kudos Martin,
so many beautiful images so simple and yet incredibly beautiful..
Thanks for showing.
Andreas

Many thanks
Have one of these lenses on my Sony digital and it’s my favourite to use.
学习中!谢谢您大叔!
Learning! Thank you, Uncle!
Hallo Martin,
inspirierenden Video 👍
Übrigens: in meiner Sammlung habe ich auch diese Kamera. Schon ein solides Stück Zeitgeschichte.

Hats off to you Martin…again.😊
Your videos are always so inspirational, Martin. Thanks for doing that!
Wonderful images. You make it look so easy. Love it. Thank you.
A great video with lovely photos. Thanks martin.
Wonderful idea, and amazing photos, thank you Martin 😊
Brilliant. XD7 and some lady gray for me
An inspirational video as always Martin, and so simple, all without leaving home. I will try it! Thankyou.
As always a beautiful and creative set of images
Nice collection Martin and a nice camera. you cant beat the old stuff.
Really enjoyed the video, that was wonderful focus with on the screen to see focus...the images turned out great.
Excellent photos. Yes, this is why I choose the mechanical analog cameras. Just fixed my Perkeo II and got a Kowa Six (over Bronica) to test out.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks. Very impressive. I don’t understand « go wide », as 58mm is 16% longer than the average nifty 50.
Wide as in wide open aperture, not as in focal length!
Fantastic images Martin. You make it look so simple and indeed simple is often the best. There’s also no disputing the fact your keen eye and skill as a photographer had a lot to do with it.
Nice job
Thanks
Cracking shots Martin, Did Practica get the idea from Contax for their shutter button?
Excellent video, Thank you! did you use development time for ISO 125 or for ISO 12 with Rodinal 1+50?
Iso 125, thanks
By the way - is this more or less the same as my Helios 44-2?
Martin you could take decent frames with a potato.
So, this is the anti-pinhole? 😊
Is it lol😂
