This year my younger brother passed out, wasted, and never woke up again- closing off all the things he resolved to do. This song helps me process that part of the grief. What would happen to all the things I resolve to do if I were to die just as suddenly? This year I resolve to let go of all the resolutions that don't really matter and actualize the few that do.
I was in a dark place when I last posted, working an overnight job at a residential addiction treatment center in San Diego and feeling alone and isolated. Now two years later I’m teaching English to children in a summer camp in Folgaria, Italy. I had just finished the schoolyear in Spain with no idea of what to do next, and this popped up in a chat group. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I’m surrounded by warm caring people at all times. I resolved to upend my hopeless life and it was the best decision I ever could have made.
I got deep into the Lawrence Arms in a depressive downswing and your video ended up in the playlist it made. I've watched it probably 100 times. This is fantastic!
