If you are an Indian, you can register your drone now. Otherwise, you cannot fly your drone in India. @@vamsikrishnam5359 Legally, you cannot even bring Mini 4 as importing is not allowed, whatever the drone be. You can try bringing any drone you like in an open box type style.
Thank you so much for the appreciation 😊. Whether you can take a drone to a foreign country depends on the Drone Rules of that country. At Indian airports, I think there is no option or requirement or declaration that you are carrying a drone or not. There may be though, I am not fully aware. So if you have a UIN then there should not be any problem. As UIN means that DGCA knows about your drone.
To fly a drone in India, it must be registered on Digital Sky website. Being a foreigner, you cannot create your ID on digital sky and therefore cannot register your drone. But many foreigners have been able to bring it to India and even fly without registration. You may try your luck too.
Legally, you cannot import drones in India. But if you are an Indian citizen, then you can register the drone and bring it in open box used type style. That will make the case more genuine.
Can my friend bring a DJI drone for me from USA, of course batteries will be removed and put it in carry bag and drone alone will be in checkin, what do you suggest
Importing is illegal. But to be on safer side, get its UIN and try to bring it as a used/personal drone. Many people have brought it that way! All the best.
We have Drone Rules. I don't know if we have Drone Regulations. Is there? Or if you are asking the literal difference in Rules and Regulations, please Google.
Legally, unregistered drones cannot take off in India. Your drone should be registered. As a foreigner, you cannot register your drone on the Digital Sky platform. Hence legally you cannot fly your drone in India. However, many foreigners have been able to bring and fly their drones in India. So you may try your luck.
Let's say someone bought a drone in thailand and thinking of bringing it inside india the drone is undr 250g then what he have to do for that .... could you tell me that ?
Importing is not allowed as such. However, one can try to bring it in an open box used type style saying that they already owned it. Having a UIN would make the case more genuine. All the best and let me know if you become successful in bringing the drone.
You're welcome! Yes, registration of drones on the website requires you to be an Indian citizen. And hence, foreigners cannot fly drones in India. But many foreigners have been able to fly drones in India. So you may try your luck too. Also, if it is a Nano Category drone, your chances of getting away with it are higher. All the best!
Permission is required in Yellow and Red Zones. I never flew in these zones. So I don't have any idea about how to take permission to fly in these zones.
Legally, importing drones is not allowed. You can register your drone as soon as you buy from Dubai and perhaps try to bring it as a used drone. Not sure about this method though.

I am scared to bring it thinking they will confiscate it in customs because its heavier i heard if i put drone in chekin baggage with batteries removed and put in hand carry with remote in carryon i wont have issue . Is this correct ?. Also since this is 305 grams with the extended battery would i have to get the the remote pilot license or is it not applicable because yhe drone itself is categorised as a nano drone. Please help . I am really confused all websites online are not providing coear information . I am really frustrated dont want to lose my drone at airport and also not be able to fly in india after all these hassle. Please give your opinion and any links that help Thankyou
The Drone categories, Nano/Micro etc...depends on the overall payload (incl battery/camera etc). So if with a battery it becomes greater than 250 gm, it comes in the Micro category drone. You don't require a Remote Pilot License for Micro drones only if you are flying for non commercial purposes. Batteries to be carried in hand baggage and drone to be carried in Check-in baggage. Please check with your airline to exactly know about these rules. Importing drones is not allowed in India. But you can try to bring it to India as a used/personal drone. If you are Indian, you can get a UIN as that would make it more genuine ( Foreigners cannot register their drones and hence cannot get a UIN and hence cannot fly drones in India). As per rules, an unregistered drone cannot fly in India. But many foreigners have been able to bring and fly without UIN.
Also, if you modify the weight of the drone by mounting say 160 gm GoPro, you are basically changing the category of the drone and technically, you cannot fly that drone as it has been registered in the other category.
Legally, importing drones is not allowed. But you can try to bring it as a used one. Also get a UIN. Honestly I don't have any experience with this method. But you can try it. Also, let us know if you succeed as it would help the community.
So for drone in micro category, which is the type 250g to 2kg For hobby purposes you just need to register it in Digi sky portal and create UNI right And if we need to use for commercial purpose then and only then we need to have remote pilot license So for hobby purposes I can buy a drone like in micro category na ? And fly in green zone as per the map given by officials
There is no category as Mini Drones in Drone Rules. If you are talking about DJI Mini series, yes, you have to register and get a UIN. In fact, UIN is must for all categories of drones.

And yes, you are right again that Metro Cities are almost completely in Red Zone and that makes sense too considering Airport, Military Areas, Oil Installations, Power Plants, Govt Offices etc in these cities. And that is really a pain in the a** for residents of such cities to go out quite far to find a green zone. You may find a little patch of green zone here and there in such cities to test fly your drone, but for a proper flight, legally you have to venture out far.

I have a DJI mini 3 pro. Should be Nano category. I intend to use it for some professional video shoots at events. Do I need licence?
If you are considering your event shooting as a profession, meaning you charge the party, generate invoices, pay taxes and all, then you should have a Remote pilot certificate. And if you don't consider it as a profession, you should 😃. This is all legally speaking.
PS :- Nano Category drones do not require RPC.

If you are an Indian, you can register your drone now. Otherwise, you cannot fly your drone in India. Presently, the drone registration process is not designed to enable foreigners to register drone in India. Hence, flying drones for foreigners won't be legal in India.

Getting a UIN for a Nano drone is a must. And it is simple too, so don't take the risk of not having a UIN. Drones to be kept in check in luggage and batteries to be kept in Hand baggage. At the airport they only ask for UIN, if they ask anything at all. This generally happens at smaller airports as they have ample time to do this. At bigger airports, they don't bother.
I didn't understand the part "caught getting a drone". Do you mean while buying, you got caught? Or caught at airport without UIN? If it is the latter, you can just request or even try to register right there at the airport.
