  • Finally releasing an original song after so long. I wrote this song to highlight the human capacity for selfless love, while also depicting the dangers of always putting one's own needs last. The melancholy, desperate lyrics are set to a dance beat; I always liked that kind of juxtaposition in music. I've written a lot of songs about drowning, due to my own fear of swimming, and the open ocean, born out of a traumatic childhood incident (which actually wasn't as bad as it sounds, but it definitely was the root cause of my fears).
    Lyrics:
    Verse
I've heard the siren's song, she says that we won't live to see the dawn,
Swelling waves, the deepest grave, the harshest storm we've ever braved,
Rain cuts through our mangled raft, one day at sea became our very last,
Crushing waves, the coldest grave, the worst deluge we've ever braved
    Pre-chorus
Don't turn back now that I've let go,
Forget about the fear in my eyes
Don't think about my slow descent
Remember that I sank so you could rise
    Chorus
Now you're 5 feet above the sea,
and though I plunge through the trenches ever so slowly,
I peer through my periscope, and see that you've made it back to shore
So though my lungs are filling with water,
Though the ocean around me grows darker and colder,
I won't worry anymore, you've made it back to shore
    Verse
I've heard the siren's call, she pulls me down like many who came before,
Dark abyss, the steepest cliff, into my darkest dreams I drift
