Artists don’t stop growing when the show ends. Both continued to work hard and hone their craft.
Most episodes, Lea was singing at least one song, and very often more than one. She was constantly in the studio recording; there was no way she could take care of her voice like she normally would.
I remember reading an article by a voice coach noting the difference between her voice in Glee and her voice in Spring Awakening, and they mentioned that how evident it was that glee was really affecting her voice in terms of quality.
The difference is so clear now that she’s able to let her voice rest and heal.
