I wonder how many baby-boomers became pilots with this show under their belts? I opted for scuba gear but preferred sails to Mike Nelson's power-boat - if only gasoline had stayed at 23.9 or 21.9 or 19.9.

Holy shit can't believe this popped up on RUclips. I'm 70 years old and I'm still a fan. What I really appreciated about these great B&W T.V. shows are that the background music is where it should be in the background not the foreground like today's movie's. I can actually hear the audio clearly.

@@Lrose68I watched this a kid. I ended up as an AX on P-3s. Within 10 years after I got out I moved to Alaska and bought a small airplane that I learned to fly. I had jobs up here where I was transported in many kinds of airplanes from Beavers on floats to Cessna Citations. Also a lot of helicopter time to oil platforms and mountain top communications sites. Even had a ride in a C-47 that flew on D Day for the Canadians. I sat in the jump seat on a beautiful day. I’ve lost a few friends to airplane crashes.

SONGBIRD I was a Cessna T-50 BOBCAT also known as The Bamboo Bomber because of its construction with a wooden fuselage aft of the cockpit. The Bobcat had a gas-powered heater under the rear seat. This heater sometimes caused an inflight fire. An inflight fire could be exciting.

When the producers of SKY KING approached the Cessna Aircraft Company to see if they would supply a plane for the series, Cessna agreed to provide a Cessna 310, with one proviso: the stunt pilot had to be a Cessna employee. The producers agreed and a Cessna pilot and WWII Army Air Corps veteran (who flew P-47 Thunderbolts in the European theater) named Bill Fergusson was assigned to the show. In the late 1980s, I met Bill and his wife Dayle in a screenwriting class in Nashville and we all remained good friends until Bill passed over a decade ago. He was an amazing man and pilot. If you could strap a pair of wings on a Maytag washer, Bill could get it up in the pattern and bring it back down safely... I miss him to this day.

Thank you so much for posting this video, I've subscribed, left a thumbs up, and a tap on the bell, in hopes of seeing more of these shows. Thanks again!

Gee. I remember this as a kid. The bad guys would wait at the airport so Sky King could land then get out and punch them and take them to jail. Even Dan Matthews on Highway Patrol didn’t have a plane but he sometimes had a helicopter. Same thing. Ten Four.

The Adventures of Sky King. Growing up in the fifties, and being nuts about cowboys, weren't we all. It was the times. And for me, I had another interest too. Airplanes. Horses and Airplanes. sky King flew in that beautiful Beech 18. Cool Aircraft. There was other influences in my life, but Sky King was one the the biggest reason why when I enlisted I chose the USAF 1968-72.
