One thing that shows why this album is so great: If you look at the liner notes, it says it was produced, written, and all instruments and background vocals were performed by Tony Rich. Truly his masterpiece, and something you almost never see today
This brother is underestimated, underrated & undervalued. His voice & talent is unmistakable, very few pple sing this way. Tony Rich is a blessing to the music world. I take my hat off to you, my brother. Your talent is palpable
This man is beyond talented. If this doesn't get a woman's interest and inspire men to want women to feel this way then there is no hope left for love in this world.
U used to play this song mopping my floors on Saturday mornings before I had my daughter these were the single days I was just vibing alone enjoying my own company
Yeah its crazy. I remember listening to this and maxwells album, hang suit"something" as a teenager. Now im 36, and still i think the songs are really good, contrary to alot of the other stuff i listened to back then
2021 unto my father who blessed me with wisdom, knowledge & great taste in music. R.i.p Dad your line remains unbroken & our legacy continues...be with you soon. Someday...
This was absolutely his best!!! And it's so underrated!!!! I remember when this came out, I was like 14 I think and wanted love so bad and this song made me want to feel it even more!!!!
to days world revoles around money and greed and hate instead of love it's very sad for those of us like me. makes for a sad would to live in i hope some day i'll have the power to change that with the help of ppl like tony :)
This particular viewing of this great song has 50,000 views. When I watched this on RUclips years ago, it had a few hundred thousand views. This is one of the greatest R&B songs that came out of the 90's. I bought this album a couple of weeks after it was released. Tony Rich is in a category far greater than AZ YET. To me, he is the Smokey Robinson of my generation; and was hardly underrated, rather, respected and admired by his peers and fans alike. True though that there are none like this..
this song is AMAZING! I love the lyrics "strangely good in some sort of freakish way" and " so we slit our wrists and we join our blood to symbolize some type of crazy oath" I just love those lines... :)
This is when R&B was real! Out of a 100 songs today that claim to be R&B, maybe 1 or 2 would be close to being this good. The days of Tony Rich, Baby Face, Smoothe Silk, and others are all but gone, except for a very few. Right at the top of that list of current artists is Maxwell. His lyrics, music and the emotione he injects into his music stands right along side these greats of the 90's. Don't believe me? Check out, "Pretty Wings", "Sumthin Sumthin".
I have everything this artist has ever done. Great musician~ I can't listen to the radio anymore because I have witnessed real music in my time and todays so called artist dont even come close!!! save for the rare few who can play instruments, sing without digital support and articulate thier passions through thier gifts.
Hey just because these sort of songs don't get the air play doesn't mean they don't get made anymore. Expand your tastes to outside the radio and maybe even outside your normal music. It's amazing what you'll find.
..except for the likes of Maxwell. But this new breed of so called R&B artists today can not hold a candle to this, nor Babyface, After 7, Jodeci, New Edition, Smoothe Silk and many other great R&B, New Jack Swing, Sex Swing, artists of the 90's. Bring it back please!!!!!!
I saw him perform at a Tony Braxton and Babyface concert. This was recent He has new songs and still got a great voice. Back then in the 90s R&B up in comers that wrote there own songs and paid for studio time and got a chance with a $1500 low budget videos they was considered a project. That's why his name was "THE TONY RICH PROJECT". He was great but in the music industry back then you had to be STARVING.
Oh this is the song...... this is what music is suppose to do to you ..... you do you Tony ....it’s a crime not to have heard this song.... best song of this epic album .
Oh my. I remember listening to this album in the early 2000’s while I was in the Navy. This was one of my fave songs. Had no idea there was a video-until now 😳. Better late than never I guess...
This song plays in my head time to time and I never knew why, but a dear friend of mine sent this song to me and it was the last thing he sent to me. I guess whenever it plays in my head, it's a mssg from him.
The minute I heard Tony Rich on the radio back in the 90s I decided to buy the album. Good friend of mine in Florida came back to visit me in Massachusetts and I was telling him about this guy and he had no clue who he was. Not long later I went to visit my best friend in Hawaii in 96. At night while cruising Waikiki we'd bump Keith Sweat, Nobody then some Tony Rich. He was in the military and owned a deep blue 88 Beretta GT with ground effects, limousine tint, chrome rims, competition stereo with digital signal processor, 3 JL Audio 12 inch subwoofers in the back, in his own custom made box. Sweet mid-range and tweets throughout. That shit used to thump. People be hearing us from 50 blocks away! Don't play when it come to my base hah! Good fun back then. This was the only album the head Commercial Success from what I understand, he didn't get the push for the following thereafter so you he never made the mainstream again I believe.
One thing that shows why this album is so great:
If you look at the liner notes, it says it was produced, written, and all instruments and background vocals were performed by Tony Rich.
Truly his masterpiece, and something you almost never see today
that feeling when you stumble upon music you used to love but forgot about... 🎶😊🥰
I never forgot about this! This white boy is here right now! A town forever
God.. they don't make love songs like they used to.
This song is, was, will ALWAYS BE, perfection! 🙌🙌🔥
This brother is underestimated, underrated & undervalued. His voice & talent is unmistakable, very few pple sing this way. Tony Rich is a blessing to the music world. I take my hat off to you, my brother. Your talent is palpable

One of the most underrated creatives of all time
One of my favorite songs of all times... This album was the 1st CD I EVER BOUGHT AND OWNED.
This song gives me the chills. It takes me to a time I discovered the greatest love of my life.
At the time this song came out I met my xwife didn't know now that would be the love my life but now that I'm not with her anymore I realize that .
This whole album is still relevant..... I miss beautifully written music like this. So thankful I was part of the generation of love music 💞🎶💫❤️
the lyrics have so much meaning
this song is AMAZING! I love the lyrics "strangely good in some sort of freakish way" and " so we slit our wrists and we join our blood to symbolize some type of crazy oath" I just love those lines... :)
only in the 90's you'll find R&B like this.............only in the 90's
Wow this song is still magic.
This is when R&B was real! Out of a 100 songs today that claim to be R&B, maybe 1 or 2 would be close to being this good.
