Sydney person here, welcome to our city! There’s a couple of UK vloggers Jason and Jordan is the channel , they have camped in a 4x4 all up and down the east coast of Australia and they visit places off the beaten track, they’re on a very tight budget and do mostly their own cooking, they show you the cost of everything they do and the campgrounds etc. Just a really lovely humble couple and you may want to check them out if camping is going to be your thing. Have fun! ❤
If the rain was too heavy for the markets, you should have walked up Argyle St to the Lord Nelson pub and settled in there. If you're on the Nth Shore, catch the bus the other way up to Barrenjoey Head (or drive out to West Head). And catch the train up to Katoomba and spend a day or two up there walking around, especially the loop walk along the top and bottom of the cliffs. The cliff walk along the coast to Coogee is pretty cool too. Sydney is my home city, so I hope you really enjoy it :) Happy travels!
Oh wow, thank you for so many great recommendations!! We will definitely check them out. In our “Sydney Part 2” we visited the Bondi to Coogee walk, check it out! 😁 We loved Sydney, we will definitely be back! - Josie
well at least you had great weather for the first ferry ride...I hope you enjoy 'Straya while you're here. Pop out to Cronulla, walk to the beach, turn right and keep walking...
We had the perfect ride & a perfect view! Have you been on the ferry? 😁 Thank you for the recommendation, we’ll definitely visit on our return to Sydney! - James
@@JamesandJosieTravelTry somewhere like the camping and hiking shop “Paddy Pallin”. The camping and hiking shop area of the Sydney CBD is near the corners of Bathurst and Kent Streets and Bathurst and Sussex Streets, behind St Andrews Cathedral, which is adjacent to the Sydney Town Hall, Town Hall railway station and close to the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) and its tram (Light Rail) stop and also the QVB bus stops which serve many bus routes. Very centrally located in the Sydney CBD and not far at all from that bookshop you tried.
How to get good cheap cookbooks. Go into any Vinnies, Anglecare, Salvoes, They are full of cookbooks people bought and never used. 🤣 If you want to eat on the cheap, many of the food halls of which there are millions, offer really cheap take away AFTER lunch, about 14.30 - 15.00. Also don't eat in the tourist spots. Go to Burwood for Asian it's brilliant (not the only place for Asian but you will be overwhelmed for choice), Homebush for Indian. Flemington/Bankstown/Cabbramatta for Vietnamese. And lots of other places all over Sydney. Do Newtown/Enfield on Friday/Saturday night.
Hahaha we LOVE Vinnies. Thank you! We will probably buy and never use too 😅 Thank you for these recommendations. We will try our best to explore these locations. We’re definitely on the lookout for the lunch specials! 😁 - James
@@JamesandJosieTravel If you check your bank you will find that $1 has increased substantially, especially if you took the fast ferry. I had thought like you until I wised-up.
@@JamesandJosieTravelwhat you’re seeing is the $1 authorisation the fare system places to ensure your card is valid. Once you’ve done all your trips for one day, the system calculates the total fares for that day (including all applicable discounts and daily caps) and processes a single debit for that day’s travel.
Good old Sydney rain... it doesn't stop...it seems our long days of blue skies and hot weather is on its way out. If your still in Manly, grab a coffee at the cafe at Shelly beach.. Nice walk...nice coffee...good on a Sunday brunch .
I do agree. SYD trumps BNE or MEL. But I do think they should have planted trees in the Opera House fore-court. It looks so "concrete". But that's IMHO.
Ooooooo this is exciting!! Stick around for the journey over to Perth …. Who knows maybe we will love Darwin? 😅 we are super excited for Perth though! - Josie

Let me guess.. that’s where you live? 😅 - James
@@JamesandJosieTravel Lol. close by. But I've traveled much of Australia and I keep coming back here as it is the best of everything.

Probably need to go to a camping shop to find the right book 📕
This is such a good idea, we’ve definitely been looking in the wrong places! Thank you 😁 - Josie

Sorry to disappoint but the Manly ferry cost more than $1. The $1 is the initial cost but you get charged more latter.
We took the fast ferry and were never charged more than $1. I think the normal ferry costs more? 😁 - James

Since when has the fast ferry ever been $1.00?
