wowww.. I'm so surprised, I didn't know John Garang was such a respectable leader. He just gave an inspiring speech on Sudanese unity, religions and ethnic unity, and described his enemies as his brothers saying he would do anything to treat the prisoners well. It is sad that Sudan lost this great leader.
They called him names, gave'm fangs & brutal things & could never extinguish the glow & charisma around him,he's the cleanest of politicians & of course the fearless voice of truth. Unity is in Diversity, India speaks more than 100 DIFFERENT languages & have zillions of religions. My point is,I'd rather say I'm Sudanese than I'm northern or he's southern. rulers've caused all this for us young ones and we have to cherish and realize this guy's legacy and dream of a bigger, stronger homeland.
He was a far sighted man, Sudan lost a great leader, he had the potential to lead all the Sudanese people,we had a dream that he presents a ruling model for our Northern Political Parties, he was true and big hearted!
we've lost one of the greatest manager in the history of this young nation....it's one thing to be leader, but it's another thing to be a good manager!!!!!!!!!
Very deep words, and clear ambitions vision, hope one day Sudan become best county in Africa and return to be biggest country in Africa . And wish all the best for Africa.
You have just touched a great point. And that is exactly where the problem is. Since they don't look like real arab (Northern sudanese), they try hard to be arabs, but the arabs deny them the recognition; which makes them upload their frustration over Southern Sudanese. Black Afrincan consider themselves as tribemen, not as English or Arabs, and they will always be this way. So why not leave them alone with their traditions? PEASE for all of in SUDAN, Please people.
Yes, this the angle lots of people don't understand, but it's the reality. In Sudan the North and the South are totally different; physically, culturally, religiously and linguistically. You see, they are like two different countries, but only one thing unite them; geographical consignment or the territory that is called SUDAN, that's it. And another interesting thing about Sudan and its people is the name SUDAN, which was firstly referred to as SUD meaning black in Arabic; then English added AN
Brother Garang is the reason South Sudan is what it is, but being ways forward and magnificent sometims lead to death, and there you are'" dead brother. I ❤ you brother.
@Eballaz00 this fella Garang was not well portrayed in Sub-saharan Africa. I'm Muslim from East Africa but never gotten chance to know Garang until after his death. We always beleived that He was trouble-maker Western proxy. But now after getting a chance to watch him on You Tube, then we start to wonder, and wonder. It's now clear that South Sudan fell short in reaching out to present their case to the whole World. Garang was real leader with correct sense of social political philosophy.
Two things. 1. People are clapping. 2. The guys standing with automatic rifles are not clapping but are watching the unarmed men sitting and clapping. I guess if I were sitting there I'd probably clap too.
This is one of the best political tactics SPLA very employed and respected the Geneva Conventions for protection of the lives of surrendered armies and prisoners of war and long live the legacy of our great man who knew what he was fighting for and want to make Sudan a great country for its people both Muslims and Christians
@h3mmod1990 Well, like Garang said in this video this is not about language and I don't understand why you are so obsessed with the Arabic language? It’s up to people of south Sudan to decide if they want to do so or not. There are many other great nations that speak other languages besides Arabic, English, French and so on. Dropping Arabic language will not make Southern Sudan a lesser nation.
Some people really have a great interest in division of Sudan. Those people themselves, they killed DR/ Garang in helicopter accident. my question is (no matter which part of Sudan am I) But as a Sudanese citizen i have the right to know. Who killed Dr/ Garang? Why SPLA give up about one nation one country? Who stand Behind the scenes? as Sudanese nation we should know who kills every good guy who want develop our country. I want correct answers and based on facts
Bashir has serious problem. He is a black man trying to be Arab. In Sudan and some other few countries their is identity confusion. because being Muslim doesn't make you Arab or speaking certain language doesn't make you be from that language either. Otherwise we would have all considered ourselves English, Spanish, French, etc. They are Sudanese; who just happen to be Muslim and speak Arabic, period. And nothing is wrong with that, "YOU CAN BE WHATEVER YOU WANNA BE" but let others be FREE too
@Esenadus Well, I know that Arabic is not an African language. but at least African spoke Arabic for thousands of years as a mother tongue. English just came to Africa in early 20th century. And If you don't know, Arabic is way richer than any Euro language. Anyways I hope you guys at least have Arabic as one of the official languages. and I don't need to talk about the History of Juba Arabic in Sudan.
I sit here today, and laught as I watch this video while I follow the news that the new state of South Sudan is rapidly descending into becoming the worst failed state ever known to mankind!I I laugh as I hear the desparate attempts of their leaders to beg the North to allow dual citizenship or confederation. As it turned out, this empty rhetoric was not followed even by his own SPLM. This is a lesson for our Northern dreamers who thought this man has anything to offer to Sudan!
thank s i know u understant butsome our brothers from south and north dont understand...... we suppose to stand together with peace and love for our nation but some of our politician uses relition and race to gain people ...i am kn from south but i respect u and i wish all sudanese will know that
Who are these POWs and why the non-stop clapping? It's a little odd that a prisoner would clap when his captor makes a speech. Pardon my ignorance, I don't understand the language Garang is using.
And finally about the Darfur WAR. To tell you the truth I don't even check on it, because the way the are handling it depressive to me. Whenever there is a killing of that intense in Africa, the world never acts quickly to stop the it; they just talk to talk; the exact way they are doing it now. I have heard somewhere that EL BASHIR was going to be brought to JUSTICE, but this was long time ago, and nothing has been done 'til now. Why? Let's the UN answer the question, if it exits
@h3mmod1990 First of all your argument is illogical since Arabic is neither an African language. I personally do not mind learning all different languages just as long as I do not forgo my mother tongue. One of the problems in Sudan is that the past and current governments tried to get rid of Africa cultures and the languages and tried to impose Islam and Arab identity in a multicultural country like Sudan.
@stopevil Ofcourse He is accountable and should be tried and punished by law. I'm eager to see Bashir, Ali, Nafie3 and the rest behind bars being tried for all the worngs they have done against our people and country. That day will come sooner or later, and the people of Sduan will make justice, I'm sure.
@stopevil @stopevil Agreed, but my relatives lost their lives in 1955 - that war was not started by Khartoum, and only Northern Sudanese Muslims were killed, others were spared. Well, I'm a Ja3ali but that does not give me any privilege nor it makes me a better human being! ... "Religion let's practice it more and talk about it less". Govts. in Sudan talk more about islam and practice little or non of its true teachings. Live and let others live, in peace.
@stopevil yes, I am 100% sure he did that, but the world is blind of his horrendous homicidal events because he has the oil power, and that's their only interest in Sudan, oil, not people. But don't worry, hope is the last thing to lose. One day the people of Darfur will live a prosperous life, without the eveil of Bashir. And always remember that al-shaitan win on earth not in heaven, you can be sure about that.
@MrRedrum781 And in which moment i told you Bashir was Arab? You should pay full attention when reading others people comments. I have no time to reply to non-sense disputes, please.
@stopevil....No question, and they are to be held accountable for that. But what about the first one in 1955? .. don't miss understand me, I'm not defending khartoum and I don't have any sympathy towards this govt. .. but we must read history properly if we want to have a sustainable peace in our country/countries!
this is a miss leading statement ..and completely not true.. any how you have the right of self determination and I wish you best of luck for whatever you chose .. but can you tell me please if you are going to vote for Dr. Garang's dream and make it come true?
@stopevil Do you really think that US and the rest of the world want to stop the genocide? Does it have to take them 6 years or more to react or find the right solutions? When American have interest in something they act immediately upon it without second thought. In 1998 when they were suspicious of Sudan supporting al-kaida in the attack of their embassies, they bombed drug factory in Khartum in a meter of seconds, now at a sudden Bashir became the powerful man on earth that no one can catch.
and the name was referred to all the black African or the Saharan African 'til the arrival of European who divided the continent in countries. Before that African identified themselves as tribes, and that is the reason Southern Sudanese still referring themselves as tribesmen instead of just Sudanese, because they don't feel it. But people like El Bashir feel proud by calling themselves Arabs when the real Arabs denied them to morally be part of them. Shame on Bashir, he should live Sudan alone
@Esenadus I Know, but the language is the soul of a country and the spirit of a culture. If you guys gonna dump African languages like all these African nations today. Please do not bring English or French. They do not belong into African at LEAST use Arabic, its been in Africa for more than 1400 years and in the region for 4000 years !!
@DELTAFORCEful Talking like that gets you a free flight back home to Sudan only to be dropped off from 5000 feet above and buried 6 feet under the sand.
The Islamic Sharia that this mercenary fought for more than two decades simply says: don't commit adultery, don't drink alcohol, don't gamble, and don't steal. Does this stop Sudan from being a strong nation and country? Or is it the other way around? @stopevil My tribe does not matter .. are we still trapped in tribal thinking and tribal society? I'm sorry for your friends who lost some relatives in the war. But would you feel sorry for me who lost 22 of first degree relatives 'MURDERED' by the rebels in south Sudan and by the way all were civilians ..my mother who was a child at the time was the only one who survived the massacre. Listen, this is history now and I don't want that to happen any more to any body. Look ahead n peace 4 all

Yeah brother, it is just unfortunate that most northerners are so ignorant about Dr Garang and the southern struggle and what it is all about.
This is one of the best political tactics SPLA very employed and respected the Geneva Conventions for protection of the lives of surrendered armies and prisoners of war and long live the legacy of our great man who knew what he was fighting for and want to make Sudan a great country for its people both Muslims and Christians
@Nilewill Yea, exactly like that, if someone can not have the absolute joy of freedom in his/her own home land, where else can he/she have it?
