I love your Remy Raglan! I made one using Liberty lawn and it doesn't hang so well. Kind of sticks out a bit, but I still like it. Am also a big fan of french seams. Really appreciate all your tips and comments 💚
Thank you! Yes, little Bear is always hanging out in the sewing room if I’m in there. He used to be very disruptive when I was trying to film, but now he just kinda sits there and waits. 😂
Thank you Andra! Double gauze is really lovely to wear but it really wasn’t a great sewing experience 😂 I’m fine. To be honest, I think this is my seasonal allergies because I feel absolutely fine other than the weird voice, congestion and watery eyes!! 💞
Sue is hitting it out of the park with her recommendations! Tales of sewing with double gauze. It is always good to know which fabrics you like to sew with and the ones you would rather pass on.
She really is amazing at recommending patterns! And yes, I’ve now learned that double-gauze isn’t a favourite and that I never, ever want to sew with satin again. 😂
Your Remy Raglan is beautiful! Great color and style on you. I will definitely try this pattern. Agree with you about sewing on double gauze, but you would not notice you had any problems as your finished garment looks great. Really like your video format of showing a finished garment in the same vlog with the unboxing of your subscription...so much more fun than just opening the box.
Thank you so much - I am very pleased with my new top. I’m so glad you enjoy these videos. I really like that it “forces” me to get the subscription fabric sewn up quickly instead of languishing in my stash! 💞
It looks beautiful on you! You did a great job with the evil fabric. Your recommendations on how to be most successful with the podcast and the sewalong are much appreciated! I hope you get to feeling better soon!
Thank you - that’s very sweet! I wouldn’t want you to inspect the insides too closely. 😂 But I do love the finished garment and how it feels. So it’s all good! 💞
I love your top Izzy. Well done on making such a lovely top with the evil fabric 😊. The colour is beautiful on you ..bless the box, it got so bashed on its journey. I am looking froward to seeing your collaboration with Elizabeth.
Thank you Andrea! I do love the fabric - it’s just stunning and I love my new top. Just not the easiest fabric to sew up. 😂 I might have been a little overdramatic when I said it was evil. I’m really excited about the collaboration with Elisabeth. Should be a lot of fun! 💞
Thanks to you, Izzy, and to Sue, for recommending the Remy raglan. I normally avoid patterns that look over sized on the pattern envelope, but I love how yours turned out! I should be perfect for the extremely hot summers here. My first foray into sewing double gauze was with a lovely Nano Iro for my granddaughter. It was not at all difficult to sew and turned out to be one of my favorite garments for her. I’m hoping that the Box 14 fabric will sew up in the same manner. We’ll see. 😊 My Box 15 arrived yesterday…box so damaged in the US Post that I can’t save it for reuse. The fabric is gorgeous! 💕 Somehow I avoided seeing any videos about it beforehand. It was a total surprise as I wasn’t expecting it so quickly. Happy sewing! BTW, do you serge the cut ends of double gauze and rayon prior to prewashing? I’m thinking of clipping a triangle off the corners instead to eliminate extra time. I fear having lots of thread tangles after washing. Hmmm. How do you prewash?
It’s a very good pattern and I do love the finished garment. If you already sewed with double-gauze you might not find this one challenging at all. It was definitely easier with the walking foot but pressing even and consistent hems was difficult!! 😂 I got my box 15 last night and I’m super pleased with the fabric. I’m already thinking about what I want to make with it. 💞
The top is gorgeous! I just bought my first cugt of double gauze so the timing is perfect! Thanks for all your suggestions and referring to teh Love to Sew podcast. I have it cued up :) Re sizing down, I think gauze has a lot more give than other fabrics, and it is more like using a knit... not sure if a non gauze fabric would be the same for sizing.
Thank you Nancy! Good point about sizing down. I probably should stick to this size if I make it with fabric that has no give whatsoever. The tips they gave in the podcast were extremely helpful. 💞
Hi Izzy. I really LOVE watching your unboxing!!! Your top is very pretty. Yesterday I found double gauze in my stash. Very glad to know it's evil.😂 The fabric is so pretty but will definitely watch some videos on working w this fabric. Thanks Izzy. 💞
Thank you so much Jane - I love that you enjoy these videos! I’m probably exaggerating slightly when I call DG evil, but it’s definitely not the easiest fabric to work with and a walking foot is a must in my opinion. Also, embrace the wrinkly texture and try to avoid pressing the fabric before you cut out the pattern. It’s really nice to wear though! 💞
This is awesome. I just bought the Remy pattern and was waiting to see this video. I’m not using the evil fabric even though you make it look so beautiful it’s hard to believe you had trouble lol. I’ve got a rayon fabric and now I can’t wait to get it cut out and sewn. I’ll definitely go to the website and watch the sew along. Thanks for the info. You look great in yours 😊❤.
Thank you so JoAnne! It’s such a good pattern and I think it will be beautiful in a rayon. In fact, I have another Remy planned in a solid red rayon and I think it’s going to be fabulous. 💞
I love your top. I'm still too scared to cut and sew my double gauze fabric. I have never sewn it before. I have looked at that pattern several times, and I may have to try it sometime.
Thank you Cynthia! It's a really good pattern. I love that it's a simple top, but you get long and short sleeves and two different necklines. Plus the swing style is really good when you want to hide a tummy. LOL xx
Absolutely the perfect top to make out of the evil fabric 😂. Looks stunning on you and that viewer is a star for suggesting that pattern. It's not so much the actual sewing of DG it is the finished result I don't like and actually the PJs I made aren't that comfy because of the embroidery so your top was the much better idea. 👏🏼. Andrea needs to get your boxes posted before ours to allow for the posties playing football or whatever they do with your parcels 🤣. Truly wonderful make Izzy, well done ❤xx
Thank you Carole! Oh I don’t mind the feel of DG at all - it is quite comfy this new top of mine! But it was so hard to press neatly and consistently. Thank goodness for my walking foot! My box 15 arrived last night - Yay!! 💞
Thank you so much Marion! Definitely wasn’t the easiest fabric to sew with, but I’m really liking the results. So maybe just a question of making sure I’ve got lots of patience the next time I use double-gauze! 😊
Hi Moira! My first version (the double gauze one) is from their curvy range and it is big. It fits my shoulders fine, but it swings out way more than I like. I read on their website that the standard range doesn’t swing out so much so I tried an 18 in the standard size (in a pink polka dot rayon) and I LOVE that one so much. 💞

Thank you so much Rosie! I think I’m going to use either a viscose/rayon or a tencel twill for my next one. Should be really cool! 💞
I love that your cat is in the background! The fabric is gorgeous and your top looks great!
Thank you! Yes, little Bear is always hanging out in the sewing room if I’m in there. He used to be very disruptive when I was trying to film, but now he just kinda sits there and waits. 😂

Lovely make, Izzy! Looks wonderful on you….
Thank you so much! 💞
Your top looks beautiful on you and I’d never have guessed that the fabric gave you issues while sewing it. The finish looks perfect. Well done!

Thank you Deb! 💞

Love this top! Looks so good. I was lucky to get the teal as well and am still trying to decide what to make.
xx Christy
Isn’t it an absolutely gorgeous colour?! I was so happy when I saw I got the teal. 😂
Love your top, I think I need this pattern ❤
Thank you Jane! I agree - you need that pattern 😂 All kidding aside, it’s a really good one. 💞

@@dizzyquiltsandsews your box 15 has already come?! Mine hasn't 🤣🤣
@@socarole66 😂 I think Andrea sent the Canadian boxes a full week before the rest of them just to be sure we wouldn’t have to wait so long.
@@dizzyquiltsandsews thanks a brilliant idea of hers and crazy that I suggested it in the comments 🤣. Hope it's a good one 🤞🏼
Beautiful top.
Thank you so much Sherrel! 💞
Your Remy top turned out gorgeous. The colour suits you so well. What a shame that you didn’t enjoy sewing it though.
Thank you so much Marion! Definitely wasn’t the easiest fabric to sew with, but I’m really liking the results. So maybe just a question of making sure I’ve got lots of patience the next time I use double-gauze! 😊
Issy did you do the curvy size or the straight size? I made the curvy but it was way too big
@@dizzyquiltsandsews oh thankyou, I will give the straight size a go, although I will have to lengthen it . Thanks again x
