I think there's something special to be said about a channel that constantly continues to put out quality content with each new video and still find ways to make them all unique. Of course having many different people with different views and ways of life helps but even just the way the videos are shot gives the videos some style and life to them. I'm not sure if that makes sense but that's just how I feel. Keep up the great work and huge thanks to everyone who works their hardest on making these videos; they seriously brighten my entire day. And if it can be considered I would very much love to see a big project like a huge hour long documentary or something in that vein. Regardless, much love to every single one of you at Archipel/toco toco. Thanks for everything!
@@ArchipelDocumentaries Thank you Archipel for this series, this one episode in particular, Terada's point of view felt kinda close even to my experience. It made me focus on giving the right weight and value to all the time and effort we spend in our life doing what we love.
English, French and Japanese subtitles are available under the “CC” menu. Russian and Spanish subtitles have also been made available through Community Contributions, which are also open for additional language submissions. Thank you for following Archipel and if you enjoy our content and want us to keep going, please consider supporting us on Patreon: patreon.com/archipel
Thanks for making these videos! Also thanks for the english subtitles. It would be awesome to have (not-auto-generated) Japanese subtitles too, for learners of the language like me. These videos are engaging content, so it'd be fun to follow along and learn on the way.
Very intense,, and dynamic. It made me very aware of the three combinations: observation and experience, the feeling state and the process. Katsya Terada talks about the will to draw and then trusting the flow . It is also very interesting to hear his reflections of criteria for drawing.- to remember what a place or an event feels like, to begin the drawing without a plan, just drawing each little part focused, and keep the will, perseverence and concentration in the process - and the hope to continue drawing always drawing, with the motivation to make a better drawing
To katsuya terada and anyone like him, instead of worrying think about how much fun your going to be having with your drawings going forward, also put your mental space in a place where you remember all your past work as a joy rather than a negative, truth is katsuya, your doing perfect already but you just want to keep going, develop not just a keen eye for art but a joy in what your working on, who knows that may even unclog your vision on your past works, I love all the works I have seen from your past, very good drawings, your doing well, I will get that artbook now, excuse me!
I love how he interacts with his subject matter. No decisive hesitation, I heard him the say the word flow ,which mean he feels what he sees and responds. He puts down deep soulful marks and when you step back and view his work bingo powerful. There is an America artist who’s style is different but draws with the same fluid hand using line.Walter Anderson the reclusive Mississippi Gulf coast artist read his story also. Powerful artist.
Katsuya Terada is great inspiration - a man who simply want to experience new things in life rather than sitting in one room, not going out and just sit in front of computer. I admire this type of mindset. As a bonus I can tell that it's really important to remember what he said here " Although I am bored, the will to create something better than the previous one is a motivation "
I wish and hope he knows the impact and influence of him sharing his artistic journey to aspiring artists around the world. Stumbling upon this video has, in a way, rescued me from totally abandoning my true passion which is art, drawing, painting, etc. It is ironic that drawing is one of the quickest expressions of transcribing one's thoughts into the paper, and yet it takes years to master this craft, not only in the technical aspect but also in terms of concept. He probably doesn't regard himself as a role model but I find so much inspiration and motivation from his words, philosophy, and artistry. I wish him the best and thank you very much for sharing this incredible video. It is just what I needed.
I still can't believe how much you guys improve which each video you make, and making one with Katsuya Terada is a dream come true. Thank you for this and hope to see more in the future!
Spectacular dragon design perfect execution of the rounded tip zebra paper mckee black marker and the way he switches to the chisel tip for different parts of the drawing shows extreme thoughtfulness. Such careful attention to detail can be called nothing less but masterful. His drawing is a story worth remembering , his graceful line is like a dance shared to make the world a better place.
Gracias
I love terra-san's work so much! The setting and the lovely way this was filmed really enhanced that very special feeling his work conveys. So beautiful!
I don't remember subscribing to this channel but I'm glad I did. It's amazing how you guys were able to interview the man behind the name, the one and only Katsuya Terada. I've been following him for some time. His art style is so uniquely his. It was also interesting to hear him talk, as I've never been able to see him as well as hear his voice. Thank you Archipel
"am i better than yesterday?" i feel like its a question i ask myself everyday,, such an inspiration to me and also cant get over his breathtaking works,,, hopefully ill be as good an artist as him someday
Katsuya Terada is an amazing artist who has taken the line to a personal level of nothing short of his own brand of imaginative magick. The beauty of this style , the contrast of dark and light and how it reflects the realism of the subject matter is very nice.
Awesome video! I was excited to watch this when I saw Katsuya Terada in the title. I love his work, and have a bunch of his artbooks. You did a wonderful of showcasing his style, skill, and personality. And now I really want to go visit that island.
I loved what he said towards the end. You would think that a master like him feels fulfilled with his success and progress but he struggles with the same things we all do.
Très beau et poétique. Merci pour cette vidéo et la traduction en français. C'est intéressant de voir ces artistes qui ont chacun leurs modes de vie, leurs manières de dessiner et d'arriver à leurs fins. Merci
I love your videos. SO MUCH. They're so calming, and interesting in so many different ways. I feel myself taking a step back and becoming a little more peaceful when I watch them.

Another great video. it was so calming, beautifully shot and deeply introspective. I've been a fan of Katsuya Terada for a long time , this video does justice to such a master.
