      I hear ya man. 1996 was the first year I really started to watch the swannies and though it was a horrible blowout granny in the end, it cemented my love of the team. The wars against WC in the mid-00’s were crazy. Have the. Defib on standby. 😂

      American here - I was in the same place some years ago, but I watched enough games and finally figured it out. But someone had to explain to me how the finals worked this year.

      They lost twice by 1pt in the same series (1996). Sounds about right to me. They make it (e.g 2021, 2019) they just haven't won in a long time.

    Those 3 vs Essendon are painful as a Bombers fan. Also represent some of the last days that the Bombers were actually relevant, which is depressing - being so long ago. Arrogance cost the Bombers in 99' and, although they were able to redeem themselves the following year, arrogance is still costing Essendon to this day.

    As an American, I'll never forget both Bombers' finals in 1996. I missed being at the Gabba, but I was there at the SCG. Phenomenal scenes there. Missed the Grand final as I had to fly back home 3 days later, but we got both that Prelim on our 1-hour highlights show (so I could see it again), and the Grand Final live. Plugger's Point. 'nuff said.
    However, someone please correct me here, but wasn't St. Kilda's GF win by a behind or a goal? I remember seeing footage of it but don't remember the score.

    They may have to edit this video if the 2022 AFL Grand Final is decided by a margin of one point, although this seems very unlikely. That 2022 Preliminary Final between Sydney and Collingwood was amazing. One of the best Preliminary Finals ever!

      Their 05 finals also ended with the exact same margin, 4 points but slightly different scores. 4 finals split 2-2 each winning 1 flag with margins of 4,4,1,1 plus the home and away game they played in 06 was decided by 2 points and they played another 1 point game in round 1 of 2007. Grew up on that rivalry playing Sydney meant stress

    as a hawks fan pies were robbed in the last one paply pushed in the back had the ball knocked out of his hands and then it touched the ground and it was payed the mark also the sydney player threw it into the post

    The Vic bias in the Swans Pies game on full display. Instead of Sydney holding on for a huge win, the commentary was disappointment that Collingwood lost

      I am a Carlton supporter and that comment is bullshit, everyone loves the underdog and as much as I hate to admit it Collingwood were here and sentimental favourite to a lot of people including the commentators. Not me, I was barracking hard for the bloods and justice prevailed. Nearly as good as beating them by 5 points in 1979.

      The 2005 AFL Grand Final was decided by a Premiership-winning mark, but the reason it is not in THIS video is because the margin of that game was FOUR points (58-54), not one point.
