The Library on Mount Char is one of my favourites. I do appreciate how unusual and original it is. It's weird but also great

Wow. I can't believe you said How To Sell a Haunted House wasn't scary. It scared the s**t out of me. I had to put it down a couple of times. I am not down with puppets. That being said, it's in my top 5 favorite books this year. I did love it. Grady Hendrix blends humor and terror and the bizarre very well.

Ooh a great set of books. I will say Lair of Dreams get so much better (and spookier) in the second half (that first chunk is rough but i will say around 33% it picks up) , and after book 2 the story does go back to more conventional ghosts. The Last House on Needless Street is one I've meant to pick up for ages, and I just havent but your review has really sold it to me !

The Library at Mount Char was recommended to me years ago, described to me as " bat sh!t crazy " I also really liked it. & Yes, The Last House on Needless Street. (no spoilers, just Yes ! )
The last book book that I loved was Téa Obreht's Inland. I am doing Non-Fiction November, so next is No Beast So Fierce by Dane Huckelbridge

The Library at Mount Char was such a weird ride. I enjoyed it too, more that I usually do with such weird books. I gave it 3.5 stars. You made me curious about the Irregular Witches book, I have been hearing a lot of positive reviews. I guess I should give it a try, even if it is not my usual style.

You are so smart to have dropped out of the Diviners. Book 1 was fabulous. I trudged through books 2 & 3, which were fine-ish, only to nope out 25 pages into book 4. You saved yourself a LOT of disappointment.

I only finished The Diviner Series because of January LaVoy's amazing narration. I don't think you're missing out too much DNFing the series, but I think book 3 is better than book 2. The last book is really bad and I hated the ending. I think you made the right call and I think the first book stands well enough on its own.
I need to read Library on Mount Char. Just sounds really unique and I usually enjoy unique reading experiences even if I don't love the book.
I recommend Catriona Ward's latest release Looking Glass Sound. I actually liked it more than Last House on Needless Street, but I don't know if that is a popular opinion. I like how the author writes stories to keep you disoriented but then everything makes sense by the end.

I had to DNF the first Diviners book a few days ago. All that mark of the beast and religious horror stuff reminded me of how the book of revelations was used to scare kids (and me) at my seventh-day Adventist church. Like, they made a judgment house, like a freakin haunted house, and shamed the kids who didn't want to go through it.

I LOVE and own the Library at Mount Char and didn't think it was horror for some reason. I had to think about it because its been at least a year or so since I read it and I think either I need to re-read this or I am weird that I didn't pick up on something that should have been creepy or scary lol

    Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 11
    Iron Wolf by Siri Pettersen
Books that I read that I was kind of 'meh' on:
