DAMN, they DESERVE to be recognized by the American music industry, and get consideration for a GRAMMY AWARD or 2 ! These ladies are absolutely AMAZING, and constantly getting better and better ! It's time for them to get well deserved and earned recognition ! There is not one single band in America that can hold a candle to Band-Maid's innovation, energy, and sheer genius !

How long have you been listening music for... 2 months... let me guess..... you do not have a HI FI nor HI FI speakers right?
Crazy to think I feel the same after only a week of listening to the band and absorbing every factoid I can about the quintet. My daughter accuses me of just bring a fan of their "look".... And I'm like, "No! They're insanely talented - that's why". Being ladies only seems like icing on the luscious cake of irony I can't get enough of. Maid outfits do help for the enjoyment and humor side of things.

I have loved music all my life from the early days of the Stones onwards, then a long period in the grip of classical opera including close contact with La Scala Milan. I discovered Band Maid by accident and was gripped at once. I play enough guitar to know just how exceptional Kanami is and I have to confess at the great age of 77 I am utterly in thrall to these young women. They are just majestically talented musicians but also have the gift of projecting this into exceptional performances of great energy and charm. Vive Band Maid, vive Kanami - musical genius.

The vocals on these tracks are just amazing! Band Maid somehow finds a way to improve some element of their music/compositions with each new release. Impressive and inspiring when you consider the level of proficiency they have already achieved. 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
Don't know if anyone posted it, but Hibana-Spark was this year's All Japan University E-games Tournament featuring Rainbow Six. The lyrics by Miku are based on the game. One shot, one kill. Traps are there but take a chance. Play to win.

Again I say it - Kanami is a musical savant - she doesn't think outside the box - there is no box. She pushes everything and the other girls are genius enough to pick it up and perform to perfection.
That's it! Kanami is GODDESS! She doesn't have rules, she just make it as what she feels! And that's it! We have it! Hibana is such a PHENOMENAL ONE EVER I've ever listened to! LIVE FOREVER BAND-MAID!!!
They have created a new genre under our noses, far away from its grandparents. Aimed at an audience like themselves. We old western dudes just nourished it while under development.

Great reaction and yes in recent interviews Saiki said that Miku does all the ad-libs, screams and other odd sounds and backing vocals.
I love the intricacy of their composition so much. I have no idea how they put so much into a song and have it come out so polished. It doesn't seem like it should work. It's like putting 15 random ingredients into a blender and when you pour it out it's the most delicious meal you've ever seen.
Some people listen these songs and hear just another rock song. I can't understand that. There's something happening here, something special and something we're not likely to see again for a very long time.
This band would be nowhere without pigeon power, don't forget that fact.
Mad scientist Kanami at it again. ^^ And of course, Corallium is epic. Saiki's vocals is beyond perfect, but Miku is no slouch either, to be able to keep up with Saiki's awesome rhythmic vocals is quite impressive and her harmonies and back up vocals fit so perfectly.
They are just so "them". It's a thing of beauty.
Sense didn't click with me right away. I like it now after several listen to. However, Hibana on the other hand I got into right away. I really like that song. All 3 songs are exceptional. Hopefully my CD and BR arrives tomorrow 😃

It looks like you haven't read their interviews or articles yet.
At the time of recording, KAMANI plays MIKU's part with MIKU's gear. Of course, she choose riffs or chords MIKU can play live, or KANAMI wants MIKU to play. Therefore, it is difficult for MiIKU after release (or before live).
In addition, most of the rhythm patterns of the drums are written by KANAMI and sent to AKAME as digital data, and AKANE arranges unrealistic part or parts of "can be made cooler", and sent back to KANAMI. That's why AKANE sometimes complains about her legs getting thicker because of KANAMI. By the way, these days Kanami seems to leave baselines to MISA. Just she asks something like "Coll Slap bridge, please." KANAMI said MISA has a kind of "musical literacy".
Before BAND-MAID, SAIKI wanted to be an R & B-style pop singer like Namie Amuro. MIKU also started the One Front band that she originally wanted to do, so it is quite possible that SAIKI wrote the lyrics "Corallium" and informed the image of the song to KANAMI. So we can get good song from BAND-MAID again.
Every day is “all about Band Maid”, Wave! I think Hibana is my early favorite out of these. Uh-oh, maybe Corallium is my favorite. Or Sense. 😜
Funny how out of the 3, the one with a music video and hype is actually the bottom one. They leave the better 2 as hidden gems to be discovered.
For me the order is Corallium, Spark, Sense. Sense was overwhelming the first listen but is growing on me. I need to go find the English translation for Corallium so I can check out Saiki’s lyrics.
I've been listening to those three songs over and over since last night. All three of them are incredible! After listening to it many times, Corallium grow on me. Kanami and Misa's funky groovy sounds, Saiki and Miku's amazing vocal work and Akane's machine gun blew me through the atmosphere and into space!!
As you said, the sound mix has improved considerably. I was quite dissatisfied with the mix of live video on THE DAY OF MAID, so I'm happy that it has improved xD
It seems they have a different sound engineer now. The one at Nippon Crown was really bad. And this change makes me really, really happy!

@@VladimirChupin Yeah..... Studio Mixes were inconsistent at best. Like, the Dragon Cries was nigh unlistenable, Death Magnetic levels of compression, and while Unseen World was better, still too much compression IMO. Still wish Band Maid would follow Lovebite's lead and actually put out CDs of their live shows, not just blu-rays/dvds. Because even their mediocre live shows mixes (like Shibuya) are still usually far better than the studio have been. And when gems like Zepp Tokyo, etc shine through? *sigh*
But I do indeed hope this is a sign of things to come for studio mixes. (or maybe they could use the engineers the Mix Lovebites, because they have pretty damn fine studio mixes). It's really the one fly in Band Maid's ointment. But I wonder how much of Unseen World's genius is lost in mediocre mixing?
@@killerpeaches7 Yes, it's a pity that CONQUEROR and the singles from "star over" and onwards were ruined by those amateur sound engineers.
It's really inscrutable to me. Why ASTERISM, which is just three kids playing niche instrumental music and selling probably not more than a few dozen copies of each of their CD, have such a perfect sound quality, while BAND-MAID with half a million fans all over the world and the budgets sufficient for quite elaborate MVs, have some mindless zombie at the sound console?
I pray fervently that their move to Pony Canyon will improve this awful situation...
@@killerpeaches7 Lovebites work with Finnvox Studios, the same sound engineers that Nightwish, Sonata Arctica and many more Western metal bands work with. Makes sense as they are going for a European-inspired metal sound and they are surely doing a great job.
All three new songs are great. It was a great day, Yoyo release two songs also.

Sense and Hibana are definitely good songs but for some reason Corallium is stealing all my attention. It's just so good.
I love Corallium! I didn't know it was written by Saiki! That's cool too. I think I like it the most out of the three.

As usual all 3 grow on me more with each listen but Corallium blew me away on first listen. What a chorus. This is their idea of a b-side. Uncanny.
Corallium is my favorite of the 3. It's got really cool mix when listening with a headset.
Listening to this while driving and it was another eargasm on the driveway! Band Maid doing Band Maid things!(Chase Camerson) All 3 song are amazing! BM still show casing their trademarks of super fast, chaotic yet very melodic with super catchy chorus (as mentioned by Mr The Champ of Medium in his Unseen World reactions). Corallium (the name of the precious red coral) is very complex and the most interesting to listen..Anyway, another great reaction Wave👍🔥👍
You're lucky this week Wave - with these videos and your Unseen World review the other day, you've been hit in the ears with at least a dozen brand new amazing Band-Maid songs! How will you deal with the other 50 or so weeks a year when there are not new Band-Maid releases??

all guitar work in the studio is done by mincho-zilla, but expect those panned left to be played by twin tails come okyu-ji.
Can´t pick a favorite of these 3 new songs... GREAT songs, but not in my "favorite category", i still hear them in repeat SO EXCITING for new Band-Maid songs! BUT Hibani has one of the best EPIC riffs again, same with Liberal f.e., these cool riffs doing the song for me!

Only detraction is you can't frequent this level of tunage from the ladies without feeling like your brain is either in a Vita-Mix or about to enter a seizure. Friggen' lightning fast across the board -- and I do enjoy me speed and thrash mental, ... So I don't know if it's the pitch of the instrumentation, or if they're in a league of their own? 🤷♂️🤔💭😶🤯
Much more English in these songs than in the past. I like it. Band-Maid is aiming to go more global.

The mix for all three tracks is very open like you say Wave.
I've had to listen to these tracks at least 5 or 6 times to cope with the complexity of all the members aural artistry.
As Chase Carneson said they are so important to music in general.

Oh you’ve done them! As I mentioned last night, Corallium is my undisputed #1.
Listen to songs by Saiki’s inspiration - Namie Amuro, and it will click in place. Saiki probably gave Kanami the theme “Amuro Namie” and this is what Kanami came up with.

On Corallium, Misa's tone almost has that Rickenbacker growl and I love it.

Well, 3 new songs and again none of them bad! Quite the opposite. :) But I have to admit, after the first listen, I wasn't really sure what to think about Corallium. My first thought was that it's very experimental and the speed with which the girls are developing becomes really scary. After the second listen, however, the song was then already in first place of the three for me. :)
What stands out the most for me in all 3 songs is Saiki's and Miku's vocal performance. The interplay of the two is so damn good and Saiki has also developed strongly i think.

I could not agree more. The vocals are really on the next level here. Edit. After some careful consideration I have to say the vocals on UW rank right up here with these new songs.
Kingdoms topple whenever Misa does "vroom vroom" slide up the neck.
As for who is playing which guitar part. Kanami said in an interview that she plays all the guitar parts for the recordings. I'm guessing it's for efficiency's sake.
That may have changed, though. It would be interesting to know if that’s still true.
@@interstellardave As far as we know it's still true, Kanami has stated that it's easier as Saiki and Miku have a lot of work doing all the vocals and having the final say on the mix.
Then get miku to play more on stage!

Kanami is a true genius as a writer and player as we know but Miku writes the lyrics, has to practice singing and harmonizing with Saiki, and play rhythm guitar at the same time. There have been other commenters that have played in bands that say singing and playing guitar is one of the hardest things they ever have done. All hail our powerful pigeon! Po!

Hibana is a great song that was left out on their new EP because of not being being on the Pony Canyon label. Well played and my favorite of the three (Sense, Hibana, Corallium).
Kanami and the girls produce the most dense yet completely integrated music for any hard rock band in history. Songs like Sense, Hibana, Corallium, Different... even Black Hole and No God -- most of Unseen World really -- will undoubtedly grow on us because that's what Band-Maid songs do. Everyone one of them!
But I do wish the Maids would get off the Anime hamster wheel and open up to Band-Maid ver 3 with less BPM, playing and compression. Bring more air into their writing and playing but still with epic soundscapes of progy metal rock with touches of blues, funk, grunge, jazz and soul. You know, Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things, but next gen. One more thing they could do with B-Mv3 -- update their outfits with more Maid rock and less Maid frump. But whatever they do I'm always all in because it's so damn good and unique. And it's the Maids!
I'm in the same camp. I'll go wherever Kanami and the Maids fancy on going musically, but I secretly hope they don't forget to swing back to less BPM and more air - and write more of those amazing mid-tempo songs that are some of my favs.

I think it is just Pony Canyon (who also owns the anime they are featured on) trying to give them as much exposure as they can. Since they can't tour this is the next best thing. JMHO

But I was talking more about how I would hope to see the direction of their music move out of less accessible, super fast and dense, frantic hard rock to more accessible groove / prog / metal / hard rock. I especially like all the songs on JBI & WD and in the vein of Glory, Bubble & Choose Me... to Warning & No God, etc. But songs like Different, Liberal, Dilemma, etc. are a bit wearing and less accessible, imo. Thx!

Corallium sounds a bit commercial no wonder the inspiration coming from Amuro Namie but I think it's the most appealing to wider audience.
But it's so hard for me to isolate the sound of each instrument...it's epic.

バブルやパズルようなテイストの曲も好きなのですが、音の厚みや構成の複雑さ、スピードといった部分がバンドの成長を示す側面として追いかけてしまっているような気がします。

You say to support the original artist by viewing the original video but the only links you've put up are for your stuff like patreon, twitter, souncloud, shop, etc, etc. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you put up a link to the songs. Most bands sell a single with crappy B songs. BANDMAID gives you 3 A songs.
More like 1 A (the A side) and 2 A+'s (the B-side). LOL. :)
Funny thing is they just mentioned exactly that in a recent interview. Kanami was worried because Miku and Saiki went ahead to pick 3 A sides for the single.

I think the difference in mix is an unfortunate consequence of over-production. The B-sides are literally less produced, the mix is simpler, rawer. It is funny that something that is less produced often sounds better nowadays, it happens to so many bands. The producers would say the opposite; they have these theorems how to make music more popular, and it includes loudness, compression, to make it stand out when someone plays it from a phone speaker at 96kbps from Spotify. Band-Maid are not big enough to self-produce professionally, so they have to get produced by "the industry". They are big enough to get the heavy production on the full-length albums, but not big enough to get that same production on a B-side of a single. Paradoxical.

Dude you can't judge a mix by listening on You Tube. All the dynamic range is gone due to compression.
Just listened to the YT version again (switching back and forth) and I think Waves' recording squashed the sound a bit, sounds a bit muddy to my ears, but the actual YT sounds pretty good.
@@glenkelley6799 yes! The audio in this video is through my streaming software (which I have compression, eq and a limiter on) so it definitely can’t be trusted to compare to the actual master mix.
@@WavePotter I'm glad you said that, listening on headphones through a sound card / firefox browser etc, the sound is very boom-y and indistinct in places. Luckily I have the CD and DVD arriving tomorrow so I can get a clearer idea of the sound. Music this complex needs to be as clear as possible.
I would love to see what you think about a piano arrangement that came out recently of The Sentinel by Judas Priest❤️ I was intrigued by it and now can’t stop playing it! I feel like that would be an arrangement you would really like 😊

Dude in all honestly doesn’t all 3 songs sound the same? I do t know what it is maybe the drums and guitar is the same speed in all 3 songs same choruses what it is?
They sound quite a bit different to me, but there are similar elements for sure. These were likely all written at once for the Anime and Sense got chosen for the Anime, but that may be just my theory.
The guitar does seem to be tuned the same on all three. It is a little different sound for Kanami.
More Unseen World sounding nonsense.
