Id first like to thank you and ur entire crew, a happy healthy new year & thanks for taking the time to show us, it's highly appreciative............NYC
I appreciate your honest in describing things. You seem very honest and very reliable for information. I find it very refreshing. I have a 2013 Vespa GTV 300ie and I watch all your videos whether they apply to my scooter or not. Thank you
My Vespa is a red 2023 300 Super Turns out, I didn't need the little plug, although I bought one. I simply made the large hole in the knee pad a tight fit for the USB and added a drop of CA to the joint and let it dry thoroughly before final reassembly. I did not use the black plastic nut either but saved it just in case. So the USB is only attached to the knee pad, not the coloured plastic. When in use, unplugging the USB wires, I simply hold the knee pad against the scooter with one hand while the other hand pulls the plug out so as not to put any pressure on the joint. If that joint should fail in the future, well I do still have the little black plug and I will drill the required hole in the knee pad, and use the black plastic nut and plug that I saved..
Wished I'd had this tutorial (and the harness!) in Nov. 2018 when I had bought the first Vespa in my life und also wanted an USB port outside the glovebox because without any cable bushing the original USB port in the glovebox is useless for charging a smartphone while it's being used on the handlebar for nagvigation. What did those Vespa engineers smoke when they decided to hide away their USB port??? 🤦♂ Finally, I installed the new port at the same place as you did here in the video, but with no idea at all how my new GTS was constructed I spent quite a while to disassemble everything (thanks to your tutorials, Robot! 🤩) and find a good spot for the new USB port. Glad to see that my decission was not too bad... 😁
Another great video and great idea. I have heated grips and vespa muffs. However as I do deliveries the heated grips have not lasted a full year. Having clip on heated grips could be a good solution as very easy to replace!!!
Great! NOW how about similar install on BV 400. How to remove those front panels. Need to do to power my Garmin GPS positioned behind windshield above speedometer
Hi Robot, could/would you please make a video on how to install and connect the MIA bleutooth module on a basic Vespa 300 GTS HPE2? Since I own one and want to install this on my Vespa. Thanks in advance👍🏻
Any advise if you could leave the rear folding rack in downward position most of the time? Will it not put strain on the springs of the folding rear rack? Thank you!
Robot, is there not enough room to just make the first hole (in the orange part) a little larger(so the retainer nut slips through it) then just mount the USB to the knee pad making it easier to put that inside screw back without an additional hole?
I installed the port per the video, but yes, I can’t see why you couldn’t make the hole in the glovebox panel larger, and then screw the backing nut or the outlet to the kneepad. I might do that when I next open up everything to replace a broken front turn signal. Then if I ever want to swap out a different charging port, I’ll just have to remove the kneepad.
@@jorismossfeld4918 So we improved upon what Robot showed us. We have to thank Robot for showing us the way in the first place. Kudos Robot! It takes collective minds to make progress on many problems. 😉
Update: I did a mod where I enlarged the hole in the glovebox plastic and then screwed the USB outlet directly to the kneepad. It works, but just barely. The RF lock module plug sticks out so that the USB outlet shaft almost touches it. The clearance is so tight that I can’t tilt the kneepad back to remove it with the USB outlet installed. I instead have to pull it back a bit and then yank the bottom tabs out of their places to pull the kneepad straight back. And that’s with the outlet nut placed so far to the left that I had to remove some of the left edge of the kneepad. So it works, but if you’ve already done it Robot’s way, I’m not sure I’d bother trying to improve on it.
Thanks for your very interesting videos, is it possible to make a video on how to mount a dach cam on Vespa gts 2023? Congrats again for your channel. Greetings from Sardinia (Italy
I have a 2008 vespa 150 lx & the crab need a clean from sitting for two years . How do I clean it to get it running. Any answers . I would really appreciate it. Thank you
If you aren't comfortable doing then I'd suggest not doing it. Take it to a mechanic. Otherwise you undo the carb. Remove it from the manifold. Also loosen the throttle cable from the carb. Take all pipes off. Take a picture of where they go before removing them. Then you undo the float bowl at the bottom (it'll have petrol inside it) then undo the main jet and all other jets. Remove the float and needle with extra care. Thoroughly clean jets with brake cleaner. The needle and float. Then give the hole carb a good clean over. Dry all Thoroughly ideally with compresses air. Then fit back as you found them. Make sure everything is back together properly. Then install it back with new seals. Mount the carb back on the inlet manifold carefully. Also check manifold for any cracks. As that will force air in the engine. If the inlet manifold looks good. Fit carb back on. Fit the the throttle cable back on. Make sure everything is tight. Put fuel and air hoses back on. Once everything is back on. Re fill with fresh petrol. Start the scooter and let it idle for a few minutes. Check for fuel leaks and air leaks. To look for air leaks. Get a sprayer bottle fill it up with water and some soap. Spray on the hoses. If you see bubbles. Shut the bike off and then replace any hoses that bubble. If there's no bubbles. Then you won't have air leaks. Once idling. Take the scooter for a good run. When warm give it full throttle. If it bogs down then you haven't put the needle in correctly or in its correct setting. If the scooter doesn't bog down all through the rev range then things have been done correctly.
Hmm. "The USB ports can charge devices that draw up to 36 watts." Say to this part, nut the one already inside glovebox is only 0,5Amps! and it gets its power from same wire? BTW, it would be easy to change the silly bag-hook to better in same opening.
How to rape such a beautiful new scooter like that! It breaks my heart how the glove box was scratched off or the holes were drilled without a vacuum so the shavings were all over the place!
Very bad job. Why is that cable long? Stupid engineers building Vespa. You just need to put a usb kit next to the mirror and take the cable through the mirror to the handlebar. It can't be such a silly thing. And unfortunately I also use Vespa. Plug the usb port next to the mirror and a short cable is enough for the phone holder.
For the heated grips it's a pity the cables aren't the coiled type. I use a short coiled cable to link my mirror stem mounted phone to my self installed usb port (as in this vid). The coiled cable keeps things tidy but will easily stretch enough to allow for movement of the handlebars.
Excellent info. Your calm demeanor teaches a zen approach to motorcycle maintenance.
60º sounds absolutely luxurious. 7º here right now

Great build and the best solution for usb on a 23 model. At least the only one I've seen so far.
Great build for a first!
Also the first time I see you without a hat haha! Happy 23 HPE!

Another excellent video Robot
My 07 Piaggio mp3 250 IE never came with USB ports but I did put in a USB port right now I been waiting for parts come in from Italy! Mr Robot 🤖

Well, my 2012 had no charging-ports whatsoever, so I put there 2: one inside and another marine grade outside. No usb, but the classic.
Great idea. For the clip-on grips, on a '21 70th anniversary 150, could you not use the existing USB outlet in the glove box?

60f! That's an English summer.
I was kinda of shocked myself, here its 7F and I still don't use heated gloves, 60 that summer time! Be Safe Yooo, nyc
Good mod, but a buyer shouldn't have to install what already be installed in the scooter.
Not surprised that the HP 2-Difficult was harder to work on.
Thamks for the Video. Do you know what Black Brake Lever Fit on the 2023 ?

I'd like to know the answer too! Seems like a better option then having to put a plug in the extra small hole in the "kneepad".

Why I would not use heated gloves?
PS: but neat to have extra USB for touring though.
YOU ROCK ROBOT! 🛵
Is the plug from the Front INDICATOR also a Super Seal 3 pin Connector ?

Hi Robot, what is the difference between Vespa 300 GTS Super and GTS Super Sport? Thanks in advance.
A wok in progress 🤙

I can't believe Piaggio hasn't thought about giving us an external USB connector that will cost 5.00 Euros. Come on Piaggio !!!
Great piece of kit.
What would you recommend for wind deflectors for the grips? Would need to NOT be mounted to bar ends due to security chain.
Idolo !!!
Someone should make a nice router jig..
Great 👍..Sir 😁
That gives me so much anxiety...there's no way I feel comfortable drilling into my vespa like that
How to rape such a beautiful new scooter like that! It breaks my heart how the glove box was scratched off or the holes were drilled without a vacuum so the shavings were all over the place!
The shavings can be vacuumed up when finished, just like I did.
Great video but looks a lot of work for novice
People should just mount their phone to their soul.
