Me too Andrea. There are a limitless number of sermons on the web, but they are mostly just surface scratching teachings with a whole bunch of anecdotal stuff. Like me, I'll bet you have searched and searched for some deep bible teaching, and here we have finally found it! It's very exciting. God Bless you my Friend.
Thank you for the explanation on the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart. It is so true. Have no idea how that works. All that matters is that it is what God says it is.
The list of gods I have are: Hapi, Heket, Geb, Khepri, Hathor, Isis, Nut, Set ,Ra, Pharaoh. I always joke that YHWH loves cats bc he didn’t beat down Bastet. Not sure where these lists come from bc Horus, Osiris, Amunet among others are more popular but idk what time period aligns with the Plagues to match the specific gods they were worshipping.
What I found somewhere else on internet said: 1 - The Nile was turned to blood-the Nile was the lifeblood of Egypt and sacred to Osiris. 2 - Frogs-Heka was the frog-headed goddess. It was an offense to the goddess to kill frogs. 3 - Lice-Geb was the earth god. 4 - Flies (beetles or scarabs) were sacred to Ra (the sun god), Ra-Ammon, and Khepara. Gold scarabs have been found in the tombs. 5 - Murrain on cattle-Egypt was a land of “zoo-olatry.” They worshiped animals. Apis was the black bull that was worshiped. Mummified bulls have been found in a pyramid near Memphis, Egypt. There is a note of humor that God injects here. Imagine the Egyptians worshiping a sick cow! 6 - Boils-the priests had to be spotless. They could not serve in their temples with boils. 7 - Hail-Egypt is a land of no rainfall. There is less than one inch a year in Cairo. Isis was the goddess of air. 8 - Locusts are a judgment from God (compare locusts in Joel and Revelation). 9 - Darkness-Egyptians worshiped the sun (Ra). 10 - Death of firstborn-the firstborn in Egypt were set aside for the service of the gods. So, idk, there seems to be some differences of opinion
Pharaoh controlled his own destiny. Every-time he hardened his own heart the Hebrew word used is Kabud כָּבַד but whenever GOD hardens Pharaoh's heart the word is חָזַק which has a different meaning. Dr. Smith's teachings are great. However just adding to his lecture here, HELL has three meanings in Greek, they are translated the same in English but are very different. GOD preserved in His Word, that Pharaoh made himself stubborn, but the Creator gave him courage (same word used Joshua, "be strong and of good COURAGE) - Joshua 1:6, 9
Wonderful teaching! “No fly zone” joke was hilarious!!
18:00.
I loved it. It was pretty neat
I am loving this series! Thank you for sharing it!

33:43. Exodus 8:01. Bullfrogs roasting on an open fire....
Dr. Smith, I love the puns 🤣
Q: How does Moses prepare his tea?
A: Hebrews it.
😏
@19:23
Exodus 9: pestilence on livestock, boils, and fiery hail.
Exodus 7:14: beginning of plagues. Water to blood.

Exodus 10: locusts and darkness.
Rabbi David Fohrman has an amazing answer for the “hardening of Pharos’ heart” question on Aleph Beta.
I haven’t listened to him in so long! I hope I can find this on Aleph Beta but I don’t have a subscription anymore. Thanks for the tip 😊
Even now in Uganda, Cattle are seen as a sign of wealth
The Nile flows from Uganda to Egypt. I wonder what was of these parts during the time of the Exodus when the fish in the Nile all died
@10:30
Exodus 8: frogs, gnats, and flies.
Exodus 7:14 - 11:10. The Plagues.
Exodus 8:19. "The finger of God." Here is one of only two or three uses of this phrase in the Bible.
The gods substitute for science in antiquity. They created the gods to explain things they couldn’t otherwise figure out.
Why couldn’t the plague of darkness be literal darkness??
A heavy darkness can often be described as a weighty darkness.

Exodus 11: death of the firstborn.
