I did a little bit of the Fringe as a parent this year. So some reviews based on a 4 year old. My son's least favorite show was The Slightly Annoying Elephant. The puppet was cool but the elephant was just too annoying. The Amazing Bubble Man was a big hit for him. But my son's favorite show was Mog the Cat. The actress playing Mog stayed in character the whole time and he found that fascinating.
Wish Every production would have you come in long before the first performance to have you critique, guide, tweak, edit ,inspire and shape their production. Your laser focused insight would mean far better theater for the world
I'm so shocked that I've watched about 30 shows, some of them really really good and only Potty The Plant was the one that you mentioned. Fringe is just awesome!
We went to Fringe this year from Ireland and had an amazing time! Our favourite show was Sh!tfaced Shakespeare, even my boyfriend, who has less than no interest in Shakespeare, thought it was one of the best things he'd ever seen. He laughed so hard he actually developed a cough that didnt go away for days. Second fav, Showstopper the Musical!!
Didn’t see anything at the fringe but I was working backstage on a production of Les Mis directed by the London Resident Director which was a glorious experience

Did my first ever Fringe this year - 20 shows in 3 days and we were very grateful to have had your recommendation video to go off! We ended up making a...far less concise review of them all. So many shows that we both saw that I agree with you on, and After The Act was my absolute favourite show that I saw (so thank you for that recommendation!). I admit that I had a wildly different experience with Sing, River to you - I was already predisposed to like it because of the folk score, but as someone who has experienced a similar trauma to the one depicted in the show, I felt like it touched on some aspects of it that I've never seen portrayed elsewhere about it, and I found it a surprisingly profound experience. But then if we all had the same experiences of every show we saw, where would be the joy and diversity in theatre? (And my favourite show that you didn't see that I keep recommending to everyone in case they get a chance to see it is Nan, Me and Barbara Pravi, which was just wonderful)
I saw 15 shows this year, and I’ll admit the talent was so amazing this year it’s hard to narrow down my list to one favourite show - so I’ll do two instead! Antonio! The Musical and A Bit Too Much Hair (at theSpace @ Surgeon’s Hall) were the highlights of my Fringe experience, and were actually made by the same group - the amazing Butch Mermaid! They’re an amazing bunch, and it was also wonderful to see more queer-centric musicals on the Fringe (I mean, a show where they improvise an entire song about gender euphoria? That is my kind of show!)
Really enjoyed your Fringe review and like you find it hard to rate the shows I've seen. I love how out of the 50 shows I attended this year not a single one of yours overlapped. Possibly as i don't attend musicals (sorry not my bag) however your reviews have made me consider venturing to one or two next year. 😊 I tend to see theatre shows (non musical). Still appreciated your run down and maybe even encouraged me to move from written reviews i do via Facebook to a vlog version. I love hearing about other people's Fringe experiences and seeing how vastly different they can be - only 11 months till Fringe 2024!! 😊🎉
It was great to meet you at the Fringe. I loved Slap Stick this year. Such a clever show. We will be bringing our show Burning Down the Horse back next year and we will be doing a performance of it at the Pleasance (London) in October this year if you are around.
These were especially good for me because I was wanting to ask if all the shows you saw at the Fringe were standing ovation worthy because it seemed all the curtain calls you filmed, they were! Guess they weren't!😀
I think my favourite show has to be Kathy and Stella, I had such high expectations and it went beyond those. I really enjoyed sing, river, but I completely understand why you didn’t. My least favourite was probably Austentatious, although I think this was because they went down a really bad route at the start of the show, then they were kind of stuck down this boring path.
Once again we agree on the number 1 spot, Bacon, a truly great piece of theatre. However, with all the musicals that are on, I find it disappointing that so many of them are sung along to a recorded backing track e.g. Public, and all those other musicals that play on a conveyer belt in Pleasance Two. I found Public well sung, though. I did 48 shows in seven days, but I didnt have to upload any videos!

My top show was “Rewind” at Summerhall. I feel sure it has a future beyond the Fringe and highly recommend it.

My top two shows at the fringe were Alone and Public The Musical!
Alone was definitely my favourite too- a very powerful show!

It's expensive to have a band. Especially with how expensive it is to bring a show there in the first place
