"i'm directing a movie, i may never get the chance again" if that was the case, hollywood would just need to shut down, booksmart was such an amazing directorial debut it's impossible to not want more
i’m sooo excited for Don’t worry darling to come out, she’s so brilliant and i’m excited to see her doing a psychological thriller instead of a comedy.
seriously, I did not expect to be so enthralled while watching this. so passionate and knowledgeable, if this is the direction movies and filmmakers are going in sign me up
It's awesome seeing how far Olivia went, I first knew her as Doctor Thirteen and she was one of my favorite Dr. House characters and I've loved her since, now she's an awesome film director, you go girl!
Love how well she talks and breaks down her film-so passionate. Her laugh is adorable. Since she did documentary work it’s great she can link it to this movie. Booksmart felt very realistic.
I'm so proud of her. I've seen her music video work and this film was just brilliant. Hopefully this opens more doors and we get more from the genius of Olivia Wilde.
I love all of Ali's interviews but this one might actually be my favourite. Perfect questions and connection to Olivia SO GREAT He didn't even say much. He let her talk. He's THAT GOOD But he still managed to mention everything important... slightly fan girling over here 😂😂
Serious Shit, this was an EXCELLENT interview!!! Most of these promo interviews are pretty bland at this point with the same questions. But this one was awesome! Great insight Olivia!🤘
the way she doesn't just talk about herself even tho this interview is.. about Her. she kept talking and mentioning the wonderful actors and filming crew she had which is just lovely
That shot that she is talking about is one of my absolute favorites in all of film. It's so fantastically brilliant and amazing and kudos to all involved. That shot alone is why it's my favorite film of the year.
I literally just finished the movie. When I saw her name in the credits I rushed on RUclips. I loved the shots in this movie. Underwater scene and argument scene were indeed really good.
I've loved her since House and I am obviously really excited to se the movie but now listening to her and what directing meant to her as an artist and her feelings and thought about this wonderful form of art. Ah Olivia I'm more excited than ever and I continue to admire and love her public persona
I know a similar comment often comes up but this interviewer is great. Within a short time he’s been able to really make her feel comfortable and get her to open up amazingly. Also I’m excited to see this movie because it feels like Olivia put a lot of love and heart into it.
This movie was sooo good. I am not talking about the story but the characters and their acting and how they are especially Amy she was amazing the awkward moments was so real
i didn't expect this movie to be so good.....even though at the beginning of the movie as usual..... and fortunately i watched it until it finished......Olivia is a amazing director....
Wao! 13 is awsome. I really liked this movie and had great time. Most jokes landed. Some were truly hillarious. I am a middle age man, but I really connected with Molly, because at school I was the male version of her.
Booksmart is the film of 2019. That’s not so say it was the best film of 2019, this year was stacked, but it certainly is the film OF 2019. I think that when we look back to a film that defined the late 2010s it would be this film.
i think what makes booksmart so "relatable" is that it has all of the high school stereotypes but we see each character's struggles and their weakest spots. olivia is incredibly talented and im so so excited for her next film
I’m going to college next year for a film and tv program and the fact that a women directed and it’s getting all this recognition this gives me so much hope
The argument scene and the way she talks about seeing them be heard makes me think of the movie portrait of a lady on fire... both of these films are such good examples of the female gaze. Instead of objectifying characters (women and men) and showing off their bodies it personifies them and shows the audience their emotions. Maybe that's cheesy but it makes for a MUCH better, more interesting film imo. Crazy what stories you can tell when female characters have actual personalities
I hope she keeps directing. This movie was brilliant.
Billy Westerband I’m sorry you feel that way
@@nicholasw7279 Hey, that's a fantastic answer, good job.
Me Myself thanks
@Billy Westerband agree to disagree mate.
Have to wonder why you are so sick that you would say that about a movie you surely have not seen.
"i'm directing a movie, i may never get the chance again" if that was the case, hollywood would just need to shut down, booksmart was such an amazing directorial debut it's impossible to not want more
It was shot in 25 days???? Jeeeeesus Christ!!!!!!
Please don't blaspheme
Please BLASHPHEME just to make uptight idiot even more uncomfortable.
I WAS LIKE WHAAAAT AND opened the comments just to find this comment. It was the top comment lol
It was a movie shot like a sitcom!
Imagine having a debut movie go that perfectly.
I love it when an artist talks so passionately about something they have created. And this is just so cool to watch makes me almost emotional.
Mahshad you should watch the singer aurora talk about her music 🙌🏻🎵
@@tbz1551 oh i love her music, thank you i definitely will.
Wow, I agree
i’m sooo excited for Don’t worry darling to come out, she’s so brilliant and i’m excited to see her doing a psychological thriller instead of a comedy.
Omg she did another one, if didn't even know I'm sooo excited

She was my first girl crush(hello 13) and to see her evolve in her career in such a unique way only made me love her more
i just love he is obssess with the way the movie pronounce Barcelona... it was soo funny
@Mara Oliver That´s how you say it in spanish, im latinamerican and everyone that I know pronounces it that way.
It's awesome seeing how far Olivia went, I first knew her as Doctor Thirteen and she was one of my favorite Dr. House characters and I've loved her since, now she's an awesome film director, you go girl!

This guy is super interviewer .. does his homework, his questions r enjoyable, he seems great. Great interview Olivia is so wonderful
holy shit 25 days?! one of my favorite films and only 25 days??? i’m amazed
This movie is ADORABLE.
she is so well spoken and eloquent WOWOWOWOW
Adore this film. Now I'm getting a hint of just how underrated it is.
I love how she talks about the difference between why we like documentaries and the painting of a picture which is a movie
she is so well spoken i cant wait to see more of her work!
This was High School for me. And yes, I feel seen finally.
Ali always has the best interviews
I’m in love with this movie
this woman. THIS WOMAN!
you can see she has such a great love and understanding for what she does. so excited for her future projects
I've loved her since House and I am obviously really excited to se the movie but now listening to her and what directing meant to her as an artist and her feelings and thought about this wonderful form of art. Ah Olivia I'm more excited than ever and I continue to admire and love her public persona
I just watched this movie and it's amazing, Olivia has a GREAT future as a director, can't wait to see what she does next
I love how they include a stop motion animation in this movie as well considering how time consuming it is to create it
I know a similar comment often comes up but this interviewer is great. Within a short time he’s been able to really make her feel comfortable and get her to open up amazingly.
Also I’m excited to see this movie because it feels like Olivia put a lot of love and heart into it.
Fantastic film, fantastic interview!
This movie was sooo good. I am not talking about the story but the characters and their acting and how they are especially Amy she was amazing the awkward moments was so real
Best interview with a director I've ever seen.
I really want to hear George RR Martin to say the title of this movie, Buksmart
What a force to reckon with. Smart, energetic, alive, beautiful. Just Wilde.
Wow, so much respect for her! Great actor, and the way you talk about directing... please just hire me.
Such a good interview! She is so passionate while talking, her eyes are literally glowing! Great questions 🥰 loved the filme by the way ❤️
Is this the trailer? The woman is booksmart.
That underwater scene was amazing
i didn't expect this movie to be so good.....even though at the beginning of the movie as usual..... and fortunately i watched it until it finished......Olivia is a amazing director....
Looking forward to the “Director’s Cut” with the additional footage that was cut for time and FEATURES! Loved this film!
Wao! 13 is awsome. I really liked this movie and had great time. Most jokes landed. Some were truly hillarious. I am a middle age man, but I really connected with Molly, because at school I was the male version of her.
It was amazing. You did a FANTASTIC job Olivia Wilde!

I just loved this film. I wish it had been around in high school.

This is an amazing interview. I'm a medstudent and it almost makes me want to study film lol 🤣
I really liked her and this movie was so good. What went wrong with 'Don't worry darling'
I loved DWD, watched it in the theater and online 4 times. Lots of movie Easter eggs.
Wonder if there is a commentary audio feature for the DVD? If so I might have to go and buy the actual DVD.
This movie was awesome! I'll put it on par with Superbad and Mean Girls. Movies that bury into the daily culture and become part of the culture itself
Please release the uncut version!!!
i think what makes booksmart so "relatable" is that it has all of the high school stereotypes but we see each character's struggles and their weakest spots. olivia is incredibly talented and im so so excited for her next film
SUCH a good interviewer
Great interview!!
He is my favourite interviewer.
Loved, loved it!
Great little movie brilliantly crafted and acted
I’m going to college next year for a film and tv program and the fact that a women directed and it’s getting all this recognition this gives me so much hope

Little miss sunshine without the grandpa dying at the end
Great interview, respect to Jessica
Loved everything about this movie
Now i know why this movie has a gay character in it. Totally stan my Olivia
Jason Sudeikis is a very lucky man
Not so lucky anymore
you can tell how smart she is through the way she talks
She's such a genius
When coming back to this comment many years later just gonna say she will be a top director in Hollywood in 5/10 years.
The immense hatred this very intelligent lady gets because she dates Harry Styles is so sad.
This Interview is just delicious
My God, she's my celebrity crush. First saw her on Change Up. Hot , smart chick. Now a director (directress?) .
Wow😍
What an extraordinary woman.
This movie was so good. It really should have done better in the box office
