The punishment is your freedom being taken away, the punishment is not supposed to be conditions/maltreatment. There's no research to suggest that poor conditions help rehabilitation either... So actually making conditions more bearable for prisoners might indirectly help society? Just by making conditions better it might help their rehabilitation and reduce reoffending? I wonder if there's any research on that!..? Also your nightmare at tesco sounded so so funny...! Sorry for laughing!
Yeah you don't want it to be an alternative to real life... it should be punishment but you're right it should be clean. There should be ample resources such as books, music, art supplies and other resources that help prisoners "better" themselves... Plus you have to remember that if it's good for the prisoners it's good for the guards because a happier prison means their jobs are less dangerous.
I would be interested in knowing when the rats nest was reported in the Scrubs as i looked after pest control in there 2005/2006 and yes there were issues but i cleared them along with the cockroaches as previous supposed experts couldn't achieve such a simple task but i'd be very interested in knowing what the place is like nowadays..

I think it's completely wrong that the conditions are that bad. They might of done horrible things but prisoners are still humans and still have a right to a certain level of hygiene.

23 hour lockdown in prison i know they have done a crime but what diffrence does it make if you treat them with no respect this is showing them that they can do another crime because basically what the officers are doing is commiting a crime theirselves im sure they do not want to be in a tiny space for twenty three hours aday
The officers do an amazing job , working with everyone for a better out come . Don’t comment on things you don’t understand. They dedicate their life to help others
I come out from there just couple months a go , it was nasty place ,rats ,cockrouches ,food was okey but portion was not eneough ,because off covid19 ,there is no education no gym no libary ,23.5h in cell ,just 30min ,to go to exercise yard do pull ups,shower,back to cell.. #DONTDOCRIME #EXCARTHIEF
I'm right by wormwood scrubs and was curious cause my mum said its really bad. i found so much shit about it and i want to move away. I was born in hammersmith hospital legit right by the hospital too.
Prison isn't for punishment it is for rehabilitation so giving them the basics facility's and giving them stuff to destract themselves from causing trouble in the prison like a TV so the prisoners relax and dont start tryna fight each other cause there stressed and to get them ready for release and also gives them something to work for as majortiy have a job if they had no entitlement to anything good why would any work why would any try if there weren't many benefits so most people have to work for a lot of the things they get in prison, if you didnt know that then you probably shouldn't be commenting on the subject in the first place
