My top 11 ( all with the 67 Ferrari 312 ): 1. Nurburgring - 8:24.90 - Just an amazing track with about everything thrown in; including the kitchen sink. Still working on my set-up. 2. Spa - 3:22.26 - MASTA!!! Fastest through there is 172. Still working on a gearing where I can hit 190+ on the Masta straight w/o slip streaming. 3. Zandy - 1:22.71 - Just a fun rhythm track; specially the last half, wear I use only 4 gears. 4. Kyalami - 1:18.73 - Fun to drive and some excellent places that I can out run the AI. My all-time best was 1:16 something, before my CU got a virus. But I lost all my times!! 5. Monaco - 1:25.78 - It's all about patience! I have one place I get force myself by the AI ;) The spot downhill from the tunnel is like threading a needle AND I LOVE IT!!!! 6. Monza - 1:27.94 - The only track I done a full GP and finished 3rd. If I can get the 312 geared to hit 190 at the pit straight and Parabollica ( without slip streaming ) and if I keep my 175 entry speed into Ascari ( usually, end up at 172 ), I could do better. 7.Silverstone - 1:26.03 - fun to drive, but hard for me to do a "perfect" lap, where I don't hit one of the curves slightly wide ( Chapel, Club & Abbey ). 8. Watkins Glen - 1:05.31 - Short and sweet. 9. Mexico - 1:45.47 - The section with the s-curves after the hairpin, is fun as long as my rhythm is good. I tend to throw the 312 like a rally car ( Richard Burns simulator ) and take different line. 10. Mosport - 1:23.16 - gives me the fits with the off camber curves!! Same for St. Jovite!!! Driving here turns into a cuss feast!! 11. Burgatti - ? - Havn't been there since the track was first released. But i did go through about 10yrs of not racing ( bought GPL when it first came out ) when my rig got a virus. Started back up last Nov. All times are my current times. So, i am starting to slowly get back into the groove.
I found Nurby to be the most difficult for me. It's frustrating because if you screw up a corner or two, it mess up your lap time and it's a long way around for next try. Spa & Zandy are my favorites. I like your comments on how you rank the tracks.
A typo in prior post. I forgot to put Spa at No. 2 on my top three. So top three for me, in order, Rouen, Spa and Nordschleife with a big THUMBS UP to Solitude add-on track, a "mini Nordschleife."
Hello fellow GPL fans. My top three, in order, Rouen, Nurburgring Nordschleife. Rouen included in original GPL as the venue for France GP instead of Le Mans Bugatti. I view Rouen as a "mini Spa." (As with Spa, genius(es) recognized that public roads could be an amazing grand prix circuit.) The sequence of turns from start/finish downhill to the Nouveau Monde Hairpin just awesome. Nouveau Monde the Rouen equivalent of La Source at Spa. The reason I like Rouen slightly more than Spa is because I seem to have little or no "easy" time on a lap despite only a dozen or so corners. There is a right curve to the back straight. Again, genius(es) looked at public roads and concluded that could be a grand prix circuit. Yes, Spa has some awesome corners -- Eau Rouge/Raidillon, Burnenville, Malmedy, Stavelot and above all THE MASTA KINK. But I am able to get some rest ans relaxation time on the long straights. That's something I cannot do at Rouen. I also love the Nordschleife. And lastly, there is on add-on track that I love that hosted non-championship races in early 1960s -- Solitude in Germany. Located near Stuttgart, the home of Porsche. I view Solitude as a "mini Nordschleife." Just sharing my opinion. First purchased GPL around 2000 specifically because it includes Nordschleife and old Spa circuit. GPL is a game, despite its extreme difficulty, that I will enjoy for a lifetime.
Grand Prix Yannick, I see you comented below to Rollo's comment re: Rouen. Yes, Rouen was not on the 1967 championship calendar. But it did host the 1968 France GP as well as two grands prix in the 1950s and two grands prix earlier in the 1960s. American Dan Gurney won the 1962 race. It was historic because it was Porsche's only win as a constructor. Why did Papyrus include Rouen in the original game? Because the developer considered it to be more representative of a grand prix circuit of that time as opposed to Le Mans Bugatti, which, again from what I have read, was a one-off, 1967 only, because it was bland -- unpopular with real drivers. Rouen may also have been unpopular with drivers because that first downhill segment -- start/finish to Nouveau Monde Hairpin -- was DANGEROUS. (Jo Schlesser fatality occurred in that segment early in 1968 race.) In GPL, that entire lap challenges me as a sim driver. Just having fun here sharing opinion.
I feel like Le Mans Bugatti doesn't really even belong on the same measuring scale as the other 10. And as niggly as Monaco is, it's still miles better, especially for these cars, that what it became in the 1970s and '80s. Personally, I'd put Mosport and Zandvoort further up, but none of those 10 are "bad" circuits by any stretch.
A lot depends on how confident as a driver you are. Monaco is a hoot to drive, as you are only ever one lamp post away from losing a wheel. I always loved Zandy/Mosport as it was pretty easy to learn and once you got really good you could open up a few more passing points and put on serious pressure into the hard corners - forcing mistakes that didn't bounce back into the track ahead. Spa/Monza/Silvy are a bit bland with the big straights, Very hard to compete if you had a low power car. Rouen/Kyalami/The Glen - meat and potatoes tracks Mexico - Love the dance through the Esses, and Gancho (Turn 1!) nail biting corner when you are in close quarter combat, tightening radius, then the concrete filled tyres then the track switches back for the left of turn 2... I bet there is a scrap yard near this bit of the track from all the lap 1 pile ups.Nurby is okay but quickly thins the field out after the first bit of the lap. At least with Monte Carlo you get back barkers to upset the applecart. Nice sub 8 minute time, BRM P115 I hope.
I think I still need to get under the benchmark with the BRM. It is just about the slowest car... I think my PB is a few tenths of it. But my sub-8 lap was with the Lotus.
Rouen is a pretty quick track with a bunch of slow & fast corners. It is a pretty fun track but I dislike the kerbs the track has everywhere. I think this can offer some decent racing. I'd put it around the middle if it was on the list. (PB: 1:55.(8?))
Interesting. When Formula one first went there in '62 the drivers seemed to love it although they did comment on the bumpy nature of the surface: ruclips.net/video/lcMIQ7POpTY/видео.html

You forgot Rouen - that was fantastic. Spa 67 is my all time favourite track of any simulator.
Rouen isn't part of the 1967 F1 calendar.
it wld be of interest to put the non championship 1967 in tour ranking :
Brands hatch
Oulton park
Jarama

I wonder where you would have ranked Rouen if you'd have put it in your list. Out of the original Papyrus tracks, it's probably my favourite.
