2007 AO will forever be my favorite GS Tournament from Serena! The outfit, the 3rd set comebacks, proving ppl wrong who counted her early out bcuz her ranking/weight, and paying tribute to her late sister who was killed back in L.A. was touching. Incredible performance I’ll never forget.

I feel this is a bit of a lost generation. After the era of the Williams sisters (still ongoing), Mauresmo, Davenport, Clijsters, Henin,... these players couldn't really push through. Vaidisova, Szavay, Chakvetadze, Golovin, Cirstea, Krajicek, they could have done more. Some had injuries shortening their careers, others lost interest,... such a shame.
As much as I love Serena, Nicole Vaidisova was one of the few girls that used to get me worried, vs Serena,she could have been like Muguruza, at least win some slams, shame how it turned out for her.
@@bernardo_costa86 They don't have the same game at all, they aren't the same type of power player, like Serena isn't similar to Sharapova. Vaidisova at her peak was hitting harder than sharapova at her prime, especially in her forehand, sharapova couldn't in her whole career generate as much power or make as easily winners with this shot, Sharapova had a better mental strenght, was more endurant and had better lateral moovements overall although and the big difference Sharapova keept a huge motivation and ambition.

Lets be honest. This was 2007 and Serena was just coming back to playing. Yes Nicole was playing good but Serena was not at her peak form and yet she still beat her and went on to win the whole tournaments. Had this been Serena of 2012 or 2013 Nicole would not have had a chance. Here Serena was just now starting to perfect her serve...2012 serve game was unbelievably amazing...her movement was better and her groundstrokes were sharper...Nicole would have been no match in 2012...
At this point Serena was pretty close to her peak, just see her final, she played fantastically well, so coming back or not it doesn't matter, only her level was a good indicator and she was playing really good, Vaidisova was 17 years old, too weak mentally and she lost interest in tennis pretty quickly.
Serena fans always do this 😒 a player comes close to beating her and then they say: "yeah, well, she would've been no match for her in blah blah blah." like just stop please. The important thing is that Serena won, don't discredit others in the process.

I always thought Sharapova long time main rival was going to Vaidisova (turned out to be more Azarenka, Ivanovic, & Serena) I think Peak Sharapova + Peak Vaidisova wouldve been fun matches to watch. Regardless Serena Williams was amazing and still the GOAT

vaidisova was a great test before sharapova; vaidisova played exactly like her but she was in a better moment than sharapova.
