- This is my first commentary. I hope you like it. If you haven't watched the original video, go watch it here: • My Top 9 Ninth Doctor ...
Original description: I decided to do this because I wanted to do more Doctor Who stuff, and since I'm watching through the first couple of seasons of series, and now I'm just starting on the second season, I figured I'd do this to say goodbye to the first one, and the Ninth Doctor. I may do one for the tenth, but I'll have to get the third and fourth seasons for that as well.
Also, don't complain about what isn't there or the rankings. It was hard enough for me to narrow it down to just nine great clips, and then even harder to rank them personally, but this is how it ended up. I will tell you though, that it was REALLY CLOSE between the top 3, and I'm still not totally sure about that ranking. Anyways, I'll put an annotation commentary on this later.
Also, if you desperately want to make a Doctor Who intro like I did, use some tips (or just completely follow the guide) here: • How To: Make Your Own ...
Part 1 is for Series 5. If you want to do Series 1-4 you'll need to watch both parts to understand some of the things going on in Part 2. Also, you'll need the full version of BluffTitler and GOOD video editing software (sorry, but WMM or whatever Windows Live gives you now, I don't know, won't cut it).

haha catches it like a BOSS - loved that comment. And I completely agree with the regeneration scene, it was a truly great way for him to leave. While he's my favourite, my first Doctor and it was still sad, but the fact that he's happy and the first thing on his mind is putting Rose at ease knowing she'll find it hard to come to terms with his changing, makes it so much more emotionally engaging and his last line is great (continue...)
I am in total agreement with you in terms of the Tenth Doctor's farewell. Nine went out with a smile on his face while trying to keep Rose from freaking out. Granted, Ten did not have a companion to do so, but his "farewell speech" was so narcissistic. It is not that I did not enjoy Ten's run as The Doctor, but he just had such an air about him that made others feel as though he felt he was better than them. Just look at "Water on Mars" for example. The egotism could not get any higher than that. Do not even get me started on how he treated Rose in comparison to Nine. His first episode (other than The Christmas Invasion) and what does he do? Leaves Rose behind while he grabs the lift in the hospital. At least Nine would have waited a bit while she had her look around the place. "Girl in the Fireplace"...need I say more? I do know that all The Doctors are the same person, just with slight personality changes, but even though I love David Tennant as an actor, The Tenth Doctor just rubbed me the wrong way so many times.
I think the last line's great because he's letting Rose know that he's come to terms with who he has become, and how she's helped him become a better man after being so scared and a little bit murderous from the Time War. He's become more human, and not one Doctor can display his rage better than he could, the Dalek scene you chose is also a really strong scene. Seeing the whole series you notice how he's become a better person from wanting to kill to knowing not to. (continue...)
Sorry for writing an essay on your video. But basically I completely agree with you, just out of curiosity, is Eccleston your favourite? if you have one of course. But thanks for uploading this, I enjoyed hearing your views on the clips a lot :)
@Samuel24842 Haha, I don't mind that much. It's nice to see someone put a lot of insightful thoughts on my video. I think the charater limit is just a little stupid. Anyways, I have to agree that I hate the showcasing of 10's regeneration. He deals with it so horribly initiallly...whining "IT'S NOT FAIR". He finally calms down and he gets a god damn SEVENTEEN minutes onscreen before regenerating! And that's not even the full time in actuality that it takes for him to regenerate. (Continued)
@Samuel24842 In any case, to answer your question...ultimately yes. I guess Nine is my favorite. He was my first, and was my Doctor. And I sought the answer to that question a long time, yet I didn't know it was already there. I just hadn't found it yet. Nine was always that for me...the definitive Doctor. From the very moment he said that line in the number one moment. I became hooked on the show, hooked on him as a Doctor and...though I didn't know it at first, he became THE Doctor (Continued)
and I can't stress this enough, the man is still THE DOCTOR, I don't know why he was so upset the whole episode because all of the Doctor's incarnations carry parts of their previous personalities with them, and still he will still have the same memories, experiences, nothing's really going to change other than his look, and a few personality differences, so I don't care what the Tennant fans say. Yes he was a good Doctor, but that regeneration to me felt selfish that they spotlight him as no.1
By whole series I meant series 1. And I couldn't agree more with you, Tennant's regeneration was the most obvious thing, it was so clear that the makers of the show were saying THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT DOCTOR AND WE LIKE HIM THE BEST, SO FUCK ALL THE PREVIOUS DOCTORS, WE'RE GOING TO DRAG THIS REGENERATION OUT AS MUCH AS WE CAN. I mean come on "I don't want to go"? That shows no character development, he's in denial (continue..)
@LordotRingsgirl The doctor didn't use his genes as the genetic code. He just "reprogrammed" the nanogenes, so to speak. What he did was take the nanogenes that had been rewritten from the changed DNA thanks to Nancy, which, when she told Jamie she was really his mom, helped the nanogenes realize that she was the mother and that was how humans were supposed to look instead of the gas mask people. So no, his DNA didn't get involved. None of them would get Time Lord DNA.
Okay... I vastly prefer #9 over #10, and this really shows why. He's really strong of character, he's amazingly zany and funny, and he makes it all make sense. Don't get me wrong, I love #10, but I died inside just a little bit when #9 regenerated.
The difference, is TEN does not have a companion with him when he regenerates, so there's no one to make laugh, etc. to see him regenerate.
@Samuel24842 I thought a long time about it. All the older ones that I really like, like 3, 4, and 5...the only Doctor I don't really like that much is 6, actually. Even 8, because he was actually good, even in the audio adventures. Just the movie was bad. In any case, I suppose it is 9. It's just something that requires a lot of thought and searching when you get into it. Doctor Who is bonded deeper than some people give it credit for. ^^. Anywho (GET IT, LOL) there you go. Thanks a lot :D
Finally an American/Canadian (I can never tell the difference due to accents sorry) that doesn't think the 10th/11th doctors are the best things since sliced bread
American though my voice does sound a bit northern I guess, but that's mainly due to one of my parents being from Iowa. Actually, if I was Candian, I bet it would likely be a heavier accent maybe.
And don't get me wrong, 10th and 11th are great, but yeah, 9th will always be my favorite...followed by...ehhh, probably 3rd.
Cool70sfreak yeah I love a lot of the classic doctors I was just wondering what's your opinion on capaldi now that series 10 has finished
Well, I'm not entirely caught up on Capaldi and all his episodes yet, so I can't give a full opinion, but based on what I've seen so far, Capaldi is fantastic...er, I didn't realize that pun until I actually typed it out, but whatever, I'll go with it. Anyway, he kinda reminds me of Eccleston's doctor in a lot of ways, and that's not a bad thing honestly. He's a good contrast and departure from Tennant and Smith, and everything I've seen so far has been very enjoyable.
Cool70sfreak I reckon you'll love series 10 and have you heard about the new doctor that's been cast
Please do this for the 10th and 11th doctors as well.
Random question about #3. Since the Doctor used his genes as the genetic code, could any of the people have ended up as part Time Lords?
The Ninth Doctor rocks.
man i feel like i made this video, fantastic job, coudnt agree more xD
I don't like this, I love this. :D
why do you think ten said "i don't want to go"
Michigan accent ftw
It's because the video is 13 minutes 38 seconds, minus 1 would become 13:37, or leet. Someone tought to be funny.
It means no.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS NEGATIVE?
