Thanks for a great and simple explanation of the process flow. I have just begun on the NINA journey so simple instructions on its nuances are good. I have a newly commissioned 3m ScopeDome on a rural property that I am working towards operating remotely from the house there and also from our city apartment. NINA looks like a great piece of control software for this purpose. I will have to use the Advanced Sequencer but getting started on it was a bit daunting. You have made it much simpler by using this approach as it is clearer for me what additional instructions I need to add, and where, after identifying the target and imaging requirements.

Great video. I've been using NINA daily builds for a few months now so that I can get access to the Advanced sequencer. For some reason, it had never occurred to me to try to convert/bring across my existing basic sequences into the the Advanced Sequencer like that.

Late to the party here Shawn. I'm new to NINA, run a couple of imaging sequences and am familiar with how SGP processes sequences so it made sense to me. Advanced sequencing however looks like a better tool, especially with the options offered. I'll stick with the regular sequencing a bit more to get familiar with the overall NINA interface. But will definitely be switching to advanced sequencing. Great video, thanks.
Nice video Shawn. I've been doing basically what you demonstrated with a command at the end to close my roll-off-roof when finished. But, I did learn something new, thanks for the tip. I didn't realized I could use the loop conditions to repeat my exposures until Astronomical Dawn. That will save me some manual calculations.
@@VisibledarkAstro They say you can't go back from Advance to Simple, but I have had no issues doing so yet. I keep expecting one of the nightlies to change that.

Another great video Shawn. I’m using the advanced sequencer for a while now and it is indeed great , once you understood where to insert the instructions. Especially when shooting several panels to build an full image. Putting a loop at the wrong spot will result in shooting just 1 panel all night long So yes, it would be great to enter more in detail. Looking forward to it.
Thank you, you made it easier. Please continue to grow our understanding of the advanced sequencer. Maybe how to start a sequence at Nautical Dusk or if your target is not up till 1 AM, but you don't want to wait up till them. Another idea is taking advantage to start at Nautical Dusk shoot an image without specifying a number of images, and then move to another target when it gets above a certain latitude and finish out the night on that target to maximize my night of collecting data. I would add a suggestion to save the simple "basic" sequence first before converting it to the advanced sequence just so you can go back if needed.

I jumped right in to the advanced, since I figured, why wait.....but setting it up first in the simple, and transfering is a great idea for just starting. I've been using SGP as my workhorse, but the extra control and options in NINA can really automate things....like just telling it to stop at Astronomical Dawn, rather than a certain time....will will change every day. The hardest thing for me so far is figuring out a color combo! so many choices. :)
Super Greg! Yes NINA is awesome. A lot of capability and options within it for automation. I to had used SGP for a couple years or more. Made the switch to NINA and love it.

Nice video! I tried NINA. Could not do elementary thing. Let’s say mount in home. Sequence tells: go to target, center, focus, switch phd2, start exposure sequence. It doesn’t see mount in home position. Starting sequence lead to stalling of software. When sequencing is finished it doesn’t send mount to home position either. How do you program park position for a Celestron mount in NINA? It is very easy to do in SGP.

Thanks Shawn! Been testing the advanced sequencer. Noticed that to repeat a sequence you needed to reset it. While doing that I reset the imaging part but did not notice that the ending part was left ticked resulted in that when Nina came to the end of the imaging part it just skipped parking and warning the camera. And the mount continued to track on its own until I manually stopped it. Have not seen or heard anyone mention how to restart a session after it’s done.
wow that could be dangerous...I'm starting too...and you have to pay attention to every detail in the advanced...but I think once it is set up and saved, should be good.
There's a reset for the entire sequence at top right. Should reset everything. I will email you a screenshot. You can try it and see if it works. Cheers!
Shawn, you are correct there is a reset for the entire sequence and I did not notice it. I have located it at the very top of the application. Now it’s been smooth sailing. All instructions carried out each time. Been faking a sequence indoors with two targets executed four times in a row just to make sure! Now I feel confident that NINA can run the rig while I’m asleep 💤 Thanks, your sequence video is great 👍
Hi Shawn. I noticed in simple mode guiding now stops each time after taking a test shot. I'm sure this didn't happen in earlier versions of NINA. I can't see anywhere to disable this.

One question: I’ve never understood why you’d want to AF every 30 mins (instead of after a set amount of HFR change). If your HFR hasn’t changed, why waste time on an AF each 30mims?
Shawn, in the sequence you have set, it seems to me that NINA will slew and center each time it changes filters. Is this correct? I would think you would want to disable that for the RGB sequences . Am I missing something?

Simple sequencer is so uncomplicated and fully capable for night to night imaging though.

I use offsets yes. You can certainly focus on filter change though. Ive actually set it that way on occassion.
