Garbage truck driver here in San Diego. Get your CDL and these private haulers will train you. EDCO, Waste, and Reoublic drivers make over 100k a year.
@@anthonym744 Private fleet is when a company, NOT in the trucking business, have their own trucks to move their goods, instead of relying on trucking companies. So like Walmart/Sam's Club, UPS, USPS, Linde, etc.
Im a swim driver. I do roll off and front loader. Whenever the front loader guys take vacation. I came in making 30 per hr. And yeah there is a lot of hrs. But you dont feel the hrs , cus is a fun job to do.
Sounds fun & no stress/problems. Don't ever work hauling groceries for ALDI. They wrap the pallet once, so at every turn, you gotta slow down very slow, or else your pallets at the rear will spill all over inside the trailer. Then once you get to the store, store employees love the special pallet jack meant for drivers, so they'll use it from when the store is open till whenever you get there. Suggested to them to get 2, but no, only 1, while there's 3 other pallet jacks that they won't use, but we can't really use it inside the trailer, cuz it's too big. Only pays $26.xx/hr
I'm about to setup an interview with my local garbage company. I started doing otr, but its definitely no it driving cpm. I'd take the cut in experience to go ahead and get paid hourly frfr
Im just a helper at my company been doing this for 8 years i wont say specifically how much i make but it is over $18.50 a hour so im definitely trying to get my Class B CDL so i can get closer to $25 my state just has requirements now for a class which is 40 hour weeks and for multiple weeks and i just cant afford not to qork to get it not aure what to do at this point then keep doing what i am doing
@@Bigmakpaddywack what colony and where I'm about to do some Google and if it does pay like it's probably due to everything there rent gas food etc being a lot more expensive than here
I have an interview with a local company out where I live coming up soon. Looking to get outta OTR driving after 10 years, do something local where I'll be home. The pay at this place sounds pretty good, position starts at like 1:30 am and runs to about noon five days a week, plenty of overtime pay too. Sign on bonus included as longevity pay after your first 18 months. I'm pretty excited to try it out, 10 years on the road living in my cab and I'm tired of it. The pay in OTR these days isn't great either.. surprised to see so many local CDL jobs like Trash, Towing, Dumptruck and others that pay equivalently or better than OTR. Excited to be able to get back into some of my hobbies, cook in my own kitchen, shower when I want, and shit in my own toilet lol.. The hours certainly aren't an issue, as I'm often running re-caps and pushing well beyong 70 a week in off the clock work like tarping/securing loads, or stuck waiting to get loaded/unloaded at times.. I'm gonna make my roommate fat with all the cooking I'll be doing lol!
Drug test every Friday pay check ✅. To all the drivers and they have to be supervised at least once a week for the amount of money they get, they have to be in check very often.
I been applying over and over for Republic services they keep denying me. I seen they hire people without the license I got everything oh well not meant to be
@@calidream9273 thanks ended up getting an interview directly for a city garbage truck going through the hiring process now seems like a job you can retire from while staying local
@lilvato88able working for the City might be better in the long run not as much hassle, only thing I'll say is they won't be as much overtime like for a regular waste service
I believe it's due to ego. She said sometimes the individual in training "acts" as if they understand the instructions she has given them...but they really did not. She said she would ask them, "Do you understand/need explanation?" They'd reply, "Oh, yeah. I got it."
lol 28hr?? That’s it I drive front load here and make well over that.. I would never drive a garbage truck for that 28 too start then tops out at 33?? That’s a joke you start at more than that here lol.
It all depends the area , I work for waste management and drivers here make 27-40 an hour
They too busy paying unqualified people!
Union gigs are usually good
School district custodian jobs pay really well and if you move up you can make some good money with great benefits

Im planning on getting my Class A CDl, will i still be able to get class B work like garbage truck driver with the class A?
It's like the alphabet, once you get A, you can drive the rest to Z
I did this 35 years retired now 😁

You be able to at least get an interview if u have a class B

I dont think air brakes is a endorsement
Well some people have air brake restriction but yeah the garbage trucks do pay at least it's local
It is thats why there is a separate test.
Air brakes is part of the cdl A, not the cdl b portion, only reason they say it

Some of the drivers make 36 a hour and up
Yup, some guy in another video just said he makes $38/hr at Republic.
