Frankly I wish Bandai would keep to polycaps. I get the downsides long term for the most part, but the alternative is a model with a full life cycle of bare plastic rubbing against bare plastic. On models like the revive zaku, which is already a rickety design it just gets worse as time goes on.

Agreed. For the life of me I can't understand polycap hate. It feels so smoother and you can easily replace them if and when you have an issue.

Sometimes polycaps just isn't the answer to everything. Provided some designs work well for them, some do not. For instance, the AOZ kits. The fact that they are polycapped is a huge, HUGE downside, especially for the Woundwort which had the feature to mix and match other parts from other Mobile Suits like the TR-1s. The thing can literally do one thing with those parts, stand up, and that's it. I'm not looking for a hyper posable kit, but still, I'd rather it be able to do something. And to top it all off, the parts don't stay in place with those polycaps holding it up.
Tldr; polycaps only work for certain kits, and don't work for most others that require that stability.

I see what you're saying about polycaps. The move away from PC definitely doesn't help kitbashers.
But I think plastic joints are the future. Not only do they feel more solid and hold more weight, it's much easier to fix tight/loose fittings with sanding/glue on plastic joints than PC joints. Rickety plastic joints are easily fixable, much easier than loose PC joints. Plus, repairing a PC joint sandwiched by two parts glued together to remove a seam line is a PITA. Not so much with plastic joints.
Also, these are models so I can't imagine the joints would see much rubbing against bare plastic in a lifetime unless you treat your models like figures.

I guess i should be more clear. For this kit having no polycaps still worked very well. But i do agree on other opinions o such kits/ms must have polycaps while others dont. The hg gundam atlas had huge potential but had to go downwards due to not using polycaps. So it really depends on the kit, but I do remember bandai or reading from somewhere else that they are going to try to reduce polycaps if possible for kits to survive in the long run.
So not much about polycap hate but just a change of direction i think. At least bandai polycaps do sustain longer than most other brands. Ive seen other brands ripping within 2 years
