To the best of my knowledge, a lot of Kpop Idols are not allowed to explicitly have opinions on things like politics, votings, stop hate campaigns, etc... So it can be hard for them to come outright and say "we support this" without probably violating their contract. Hence why they're not allowed to take pride flags or Black Lives Matter flags or whatever. Because of this they have to be subtle or get creative. Like how Chan used to say "Bye baby girls and baby boys" when closing out of Chan's room but now says 'Baby stays' to be inclusive of all genders or how he says "it doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl or whoever you choose to be" because he can't just say non-binary people. Even at a recent concert in February they said this and it was pretty clear what they're alluding to Felix: "This concert is all about being yourself" Chan: "True, and you guys know what we mean, definitely" and he started giggling.😭 sorry for the long comment I just love them 🥲💕
and the feb concert was one while there was a pride event on (madi gras if I remember correctly) while they were there in sydney. and then chanlix said that, and so naturally we all took it like that. ( there were rainbows everywhere at the time)
the company is very strict with their rules. they can’t accept anything given to them on stage including pride flags. hopefully one day the company will allow it but stray kids always show their love and support and appreciate for lgbtq+ stays and the community as a whole. one of the things i love most is when they write songs they use gender neutral terms (maybe only a couple songs out of their entire discography they use pronouns like girl or boy) which is so amazing. also stays asked chan that question (in my opinion) to see if he would even answer it bc a lot of idols won’t especially male idols. stray kids are honestly such amazing and genuine people and i am so proud to call myself a stay. i also love the fact that none of the members are scared to be touchy and affectionate with each other even if it can be perceived as them being gay.
That was one of the reasons I started supporting Stray Kids so hard. I’ve always liked their music but on a whim I was searching for gender neutral K-pop songs and someone commented the same thing about how their music lyrics are gender neutral except for a couple of songs and since they produce their own music it’s deliberate. Then I started actively paying attention and now I love everything about them! 😭❤️
bro stray kids are so great, even though i'm not part of the lgbtq+ community one of the reasons i loved them off the start was because they where so inclusive with the lgbtq+ community
@@stayville-connections WHAT DO YOU MEAN, are most of us part of the lgbtq community. i don't know much about the fandom i just know a lot about stray kids lol
jype are really strict so skz aren't allowed to bring anything given to them by stay on stage including pride flags :(( hopefully one day they will be allowed i know twice convinced their managers to let them sing born this way in a concert so we know its possible for skz in the future i think they're also not allowed to explicitly talk about pride or sexuality bc no matter how much chan talks about inclusivity he always stops himself before he says anything too much, another bad thing about jype- at least the boys still try as hard as they can to be a safe place for us anyway
I don't really think you can say it's 'another bad thing about jype'. having idols give opinions on controversial topics in general just puts them at far too much risk from a business perspective. while I wouldn't put it past jyp himself and others in the company to be discriminatory, it's definitely more so to avoid association with anything that could be deemed controversial. I would also personally much rather the idols subtly supported us than have the companies using the brilliant idea of blatant queer baiting to draw in more audiences.
@@cindyliliesI agree with you - their subtle support means a lot, especially since South Korean isn’t pro-LGBTQ+. Even though blatant support is always nice, even the smallest thing will get an idol cancelled and I think all Stays will agree that we want SKZ to have long and successful careers!
I love your videos but especially this one. I'm the b in the LGBTQ+ community and my fave part in this video is the clothes have no gender quote Felix said and Chan saying who you identify as will never stop Stays from having a home and safe haven with them. I came out to my friends as gender-fluid last year thanks to Felix and Chan. Also that jacket looked flawless on you and you slayed that look
fr like good on him for knowing what to say and being educated, he grew up with a sister after all but why would you ask him that and not someone around you?
Also in the diggle interview with Felix lee know and changbin Lee know said that in school he had a crush and when Jonathan said “you had a crush on her” Lee know said “it’s a him”
he didn't say he had a crush, he said he had a best friend and jonathan asked "did you have a crush on them?", lee know said "it's a him. no romance in my life", so tbh it seemed like the implication was more "it was a him, so no". korea is still very homophobic, coming out would straight up end his career so i don't think he meant it that way (as much as i would love that as a queer person myself)
@@miroh8 Same- and I think I saw a comment somewhere where a Korean speaker said the English translation was a bit off and the English translation implies more of a “crush” context to Lee Know’s answer. I think as international fans we need to be mindful of our interpretations sometimes and be a bit careful about taking things out of context. I love SKZ and they support the LGBTQ+ community with their gender-neutral song lyrics. The K-pop env is very competitive and literally anything can get a group cancelled- even fake stuff. So I enjoy their subtle support and wish them the best in their careers and one day in their love lives when they can openly have one 😂
@@laceofstars707 yeah, it wasn't until I started learning korean (i'm still nowhere near fluent but still) that i realized just how often mistranslations and misinterpretations happen. i think people really need to be careful with how they interpret translations if they don't speak korean because soooo much context is lost when you don't know the specific words they're using and the exact tone they're using and what those things imply. the meaning of a sentence can be completely changed through translation, even if the translation is seemingly pretty accurate. and yeah it's definitely really unfortunate that they can't be open about stuff regarding relationships/sexuality even if they want to, i hope that changes someday 🙁
I recommended this (not the vid but seeing SKZ supporting pride and stuff) on one of your pride vids and then you made this. I love it, Han knows sum tho..👀
8:00 same bruh. I often go into the men's clothing section bc I prefer male t-shirts and hoodies. To me they're unisex. The short sleeves are wider, sometimes a bit longer and they're bigger around the torso. And if I want to wear them tight I'll just simply adjust them. Female t-shirts are almost always made to be tighter around the body, including the short sleeves. It's annoying.
That one video reminded me that my dad literally will not stop calling stray kids “straight kids” 😂 Like my parents were in korea, and my dad was just walking around talking about “straight kids” and it was so embarrassing for my mom lmao
