"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on RUclips. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on RUclips, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

If it were a regular person or a poor person they would have been in jail after the first one.
Yes.
Even Joe Pesci got multiple trips to jail for being held in contempt of court, and he's famous!
their ass would have been disappeared for the documents case long before the time they gave him before raiding his club
Didn’t they say after the 9th time he be put in jail? Fuck the justice system
IKR? We avg Joe's wouldn't even get a first warning.
he knows he's not getting punished. i can see kyles idea that trump WANTS to go to jail/prison so he can play the martyr, but at the same time i think Trump understands that there's less than a 5% chance that would ever happen. he's just flexing his immunity to any real punishment at this point
"The law is a spider's web. The weak get caught while the strong break free." --- Solon of ancient Athens
@@geoffwilliams4478Alvin Bragg enters the chat: “you’re a repeat criminal? Oh yea you’re free to go!”
I commented on the video about the $9,000 fine and said that he would violate the gag order again and nothing would happen. Seems I was right
The judge said: the last thing I wanna do is to put you in jail because you were the president and you could be again.
So much for "no one is above the law." So much for "Everybody is equal under the law".
Its never been true. Ever. Not here, not anywhere.
Exactly, I posted that quote earlier too. It's the most damning thing to come out of all of this and people missed it!
That judge just openly admitted that some people are above the law and that there ARE two tiers of justice.
How nobody is up in arms over such a blatant admittance is mystifying to me.
Well said.
And why is this?
Because the elite people responsible for handing down justice don't want to inconvenience their *_classmates._* Not their *_wealthy_* classmates, not their *_social_* classmates, not their *_political_* classmates, and far too often, their literal *_school_* classmates.
“Equality before the law” has always been a myth - the reality is that people with wealth and connections get special treatment by the “justice system.”
Doesn't matter if it's the tenth time or the ten thousandth time, no judge will have the balls to lock him up and Trump will continue on with his lifelong lesson that he can do anything with impunity.
I've completely given up on respecting the modern justice system that exists just to keep us average nobodies in line, not to actually find guilt or right any wrongs.
our two tiered justice system.
I can't imagine that any normal person would get away with being held in contempt of court 10 TIMES and still be allowed to just go home at night
Bla bla bla... it will never get serious. It doesn't matter how many times the judges warn Trump. Nothing will ever happen.
Yes the judge will do it.
Tomorrow's headline "Trump Held in Contempt 11th Time; Judge Not Mad, Just Dissapointed"
If you or I were held in contempt of court 10 times, you bet there’d be consequences. Yet he still claims he’s being treated unfairly.
For the TENTH TIME! Sigh. Gee. I wonder why young people are getting increasingly sick of the 'talk' but 'no action' by the current group in power.
There will be no action at all. There is only coddling and slapping the wrist at worst for the powerful and wealthy.
Next week: same headline but 11th instead of 10th.
It's like a new iPhone release
Just like all the totally legit "impeachment " trails he had, all a damn spectacle and you fools cheer this on

*Court:* "Why I oughta!! >:("
🍊: "You'll do what?? Hold me accountable??"
*Court:* "...yeah you're right :("
So so accurate 😄
Trump will never stop talking and (unfortunately) won’t actually see the inside of a prison
Trump's probably gonna be president because of Gaza and nothing will change or get better for the people of Palestine.
I want to believe you're wrong but there's a very good chance you're right
Have hope. He just may end up seeing the inside of a jail cell.
Not a damn thing will happen, because these judges are too damn cowardly to actually make good on their threats. Could i be wrong? Of course, and I would love to be wrong and it happens. But let's be real here, they won't do shit, except continuously wag their finger.
the problem is that putting him in prison for violating gag orders is what he wants because to his supporters he will look like mandela
And then the election will roll around with Trump still free and on the ballots and he'll win and then pardon himself, and then it's Project 2025, the US stops circling the drain to just get sucked straight down it. That is my prediction.
I think the refusal to apply penalties is a mandate from the head of the State Dep.
ANYBODY ELSE would have been in jail a long time ago.....
At this point Trump is calling their bluff. He probably thinks he won’t be held accountable.
If they do, it's probably an office somewhere or a broom closet. Not real jail.
Any one of us would have been to jail on the first offense.
Joke of a justice system
I’m at my limit with this farce.
If it was ANYONE else, their feet wouldn’t touch the ground on the way to jail.
Lock him up!
Court should charge by what your bank account has. If he has $1.5 billion then charge him $1 million the first time and then gradually go up.
Max fine allowed is $1000 per violation.
You're right though, fines like that just mean that rich people only see it as the price of doing what they want.
"Hey! It only costs me $1000 to tell the judge to suck my dick?!? Awesome! Let's do that"
Sleepy Don did make a post about Stormy early this morning and apparently his lawyers called him and he deleted it, so he does seem to be getting a little bit afraid, at this point. We will see if that caution holds. I think they will allow it as long as he checks himself and deletes it.
If the miracle happens and Trump spends a few minutes in jail, we need photos leaked immediately.
The judge will just continue to give “stern” warnings.
I wouldn't bet on it, but I hope the judge grows a spine and follows through.
Lock him up!!!
The judge is treating Trump like a toddle, "....this is your last chance...nine, nine and half, nine and three quarters....."
Have you heard the Iron Maiden song educated fool?
Your name reminded me, awesome song if ya like metal
He's out on bond. Contempt is a violation of his bond. He needs to be locked up
I don't think the judge or the prosecution is worried about how it will affect the election. They're only worried about a justification for an appeal.
The current incumbent needs T... to roam free...
“bETtEr nOt dO it aGaIn!” - Legal System
I have no doubt that talking points (across there media spectrum) have already been discussed and prepared for when Trump gets jailed for contempt.
He'll never see the inside of a prison..
This happened in 1924 to another well known white nationalist.
Who?? I want to know.
@@daniellerochford3790 Hitler after the Beer Hall Putsch.
How much would you bet he gets himself to jail on purpose as an excuse to not debate RFK at the upcoming Libertarian convention? 🤣
RFK is trash also
Why would Trump be invited to a libertarian convention?
They’re both equally dumb anyways
@@KanLuxiang Don't know but apparently he's attending.
@@DeCanj096 I doubt he'll debate anyone. He barely wants to debate Biden, let alone an independent candidate.
The judge doesn’t have what it takes to jail Trump. It’s pretty evident. The judge needs to man up.
If I was held in contempt ten times, what would happen to me? 😂
The judge needs to make the Secret Service shut down all of
Trumps communication devices, in lieu of putting him in jail.
"Don't you break the rules again Donnie. We're giving you another warning, but we super super duper mean it this time!!"
He'll be let off the hook again.
Who's presiding over this case? Squeak Scolari? "I swear if you threaten me or my family 13 or 14 more times you're outta here!"
I saw the Jordan Klepper segment on this and kind of agree like the judge will consider jail time. Like you have done something you can’t do ten times so on the 11th they will consider more consequences. Wow 🙄
Guarantee this guy’s went down the back hallway in the adult book store 🤭
I mean, you almost can't blame Trump for ignoring the judge's orders. Why should he? They never do anything to him.
Ah yes, the old 11 strikes and you're out rule
The law doesn't apply to billionaires. Only if you steal money from the billionaire class like Sam Bankman-Fried and Elizabeth Holmes will anything happen to you.
Would *ANY JUDGE* put him in jail for violating bond?
Remember how in the movie The Green Mile when they put Percy in a straight jacket in the padded room with duck tape over his mouth? That's what they need to do to Trump.
There are times I've been like "This rule is stupid, I'm not going to follow it!" But even as a kid after the second or third time I got yelled at for breaking a rule I'd give up trying to get away with it.
Thank you for the truth ..
Lol Trump is immune to jail 😂
The judge will do it. He is laying all the ground work.
Nobody should be told they can’t speak by the government ever.
Why would you ever want to deny yourself the glory of being the guy who put Trump in jail?
What if he is a republican or a zionists? Putting Trump in jail is bad for bussiness.
This is no longer news and we no longer have a justice system in the ways that really matter at the top level. The more times you warn him and then don't deliver, the more it just emboldens him and convinces himself he's untouchable. Threats of jail time and $1000 a day don't mean shit to him, you'll have to do a lot more than that if you want results.
I'm sure the thought that Donald could go after the judge if he becomes POTUS again because you know he would.
Lol what percentage of average people would stay out of jail through 9 incidents of contempt of court (?) 😆🤦🏽♂️
Come on let's face it. Going after the judge's daughter and the jury at your criminal trial is a power move.
Quick, give him another warning! I am sure it will work this time!
"MAY result in jail time"
So no jail time then? Got it.
A corrupt court cannot be respected.
As the old adage goes:
11 strikes and you're out!
Diaper Don said that Stormy reminded him of Ivanka. 🤢🤮
That’s what they said last time.
That’s what they’ll say next time. It will never happen
One final warning before the next 27.
I'm waiting for the video: Trump held in contempt of court for the 100th time.
Didn't he say "next time" LAST TIME? Two-tiered indeed.
This time i mean it!!!
So much for no justice, no peace, looks to me that justice isn't blind, its bought.
Thumbnail dude on the right side looks like future Kyle
What a joke! One law for them, another law for us.
DJT=Does Jail Time 🤣🤣🤣
"The law is a spider's web. The weak get caught while the strong break free." --- Solon of ancient Athens
Please oh please lock him up! It's going to be glorious 😍
Absolutely not lol. We don't lock up Presidents in this country no matter what. At the most they'll just slap a bracelet on him and say he has to stay home for a week or something.
Our justice system, everyone: broken like the rest of the government. I lose more and more respect for them by the day, and we haven't even reached November yet
They aren't gonna do shit to him 😂
1:15 starting point
I'll believe it when I see it
They have to.
No one can seriously think there's a possibility Trump is going to jail..
We all know he's guilty as f**k for the multitude of criminal acts charged against him. But the justice system is too scared to convict him
@@Dsullivannlaws do not apply to the rich and powerful.
That will NEVER happen.
Those lawyers on the Meidas Touch Network pointed out that a condition of Trumps pre-trial release in all his different cases is that he commits no crimes and contempt of court is one, so they could just arrest him now. But apparently, all the judges are scared shitless of doing that, so I don't think that Don Snorleone will ever see that jail cell for his gag order violations. Which is a pity and undermining the rule of law from the side of the law.
Home confinement without McDonald's and his devices taken away would be worse than prison for him.
Nope. He has staff that can get things for him.
"This is the TENTH and LAST time I let you cheat on me!! I mean it this time! Cause you get one chance! ONE. Then three strikes. Then a warning. Then an OFFICIAL warning. Then you're out."
Why restrain yourself when there are zero consequences?
If he's serious about "respect for the court", he'd better put his money where his mouth is, or else he's part of the problem, and it will be the end of ANY oversight of this guy. Put T in jail, take away his phone, let him appear only by close-circuit TV with the volume off. Every time he has to be jailed, give him the maximum time inside.
If he's in there long enough, without any benefits like another inmate, he'll go crazy with boredom and maybe change his tune later. Don't let the Secret Service interact with him unless it's literally a matter for their involvement, otherwise just stand by. Make him deal with prison guards who say 'no'.
Any average American would have been arrested for the first offense. Uphold the law and send his ass to prison already!
He already said he would like it if he got locked up. He wants the spectacle.
Word has it that he wants to get locked up. I would avoid that if that's what he wants.
Double the fines, and use it to Double the security of the people he's negatively affecting.
You should do a segment on Macklemore’s new Pro-Palestine protest song.
Refund the fines, 6 months each charge. Served back to back
Kyle you're no different from MSNBC covering trump 24/7
Kyle doesn't cover Trump enough! You're thinking of Pakman, maybe?
He won't be jailed. He has affluenza. The judge said this last time. How many times will we hear "oh but next time you are going to jail."? I have pooritus and people with pooritus are actually held accountable for their actions.
They wont 😢
Here's a tv pilot idea I have! Trump in general prison population. It may be hard to spot in an orange jumpsuit.
If he does have to go behind bars, it will be the cushiest jail you can possibly conceive of. The dude ain't going to Rikers.
They won’t…
This judge will put him in jail
Bill Maher, who? that F guy ? Wait, he will be kicked out by his boss for losing viewers.
It’s so ridiculous how Trump is claiming unfair treatment when he’s getting some of the most preferential treatment ever
I'll only believe it when I see it. After all I am from Missouri. Show me.
