One of the things I hated in the Polin book was that Penelope lost a bunch of weight before the book and that was part of Colin seeing her in a new light. I am so glad the show is not taking that direction. I’m so excited to see a plus sized girl in a regency romance as a lead too. And she is so stunning.
I hope for less Featherington family plotline and more Francesca and the Stirlings. Being introduced to John, (possibly) Michael and Sophie is quite wild.

I think the reason why they moved Polin to this season is because they know that the Featheringtons have nearly overstayed their welcome. They will use them and lose them after this season I bet.

@@FullofLit it has to be why they changed the order. They needed those Featherington actors for Polin and didn’t want them to get signed to other projects for a year and then be stuck when they need them back, so they moved them to now and then we will wish them well from here on out
It may have also been that they wanted to lump the seasons that they needed them for together so that they did not have a gap where they had to pay them without using them or loose the actresses.
I hadn't thought of it this way, but that makes a lot of sense. Still don't forgive them for overusing the Featheringtons as I do think they gave them too much 'filler' in season 2 when what we should have had is more Kate backstory, imo, but I'll take it if we lose them after season 3 and we get to keep Kate in future seasons.

This is by far my favorite of the Bridgerton novels. Many dont like it as much, but as you said, I feel it is very much Penelope's story. Colin definitely has an arc in the book, but it's really Penelope's growth that grabs the reader's attention. She is the primary character. She takes center stage, learns to love and stand up for herself, which makes everyone truly see how amazing she is.
I think Pen and Colin’s story is friends to lovers but it also has a she fell first but he fell harder kind of vibe and we better get that carriage scene 😂
I was watching a podcast, and they discussed some easter eggs they saw in season 2 of the show of how season 3 and 4 were gonna be switched. The first example was when Anthony and Kate were about to dance in the finale episode, Anthony asked Kate how many fingers his was showing her. It was 3, then he changed it to 4. Another example was when Benedict was collecting his items from the academy; when he was closing his toolkit, he used 4 fingers, and the camera focused in on that.
I feel like at this point, they have to mix some of the siblings stories. Like it can't be just one leading character. Apart from Penelope here but she's not (yet) a Bridgerton. So I quite agree with you when you say stuff like introducing one, speaking about another, have a glimpse of another one... For Benedict, Francesca and maybe even some developpement for Eloise, because for me, the books about Ben and El were quite poor (and awfully misogynistic and cruel) and it makes sense to me to mix them (and please rewrite them urgghhh.) I totally agree with you about Francesca as well : such a great and steamy story to come !! I also can't wait to finally see what Penelope can do for herself with a self-confidence she deserves so much. I wonder how Lady Withledown will behave this season ...? I'm just super excited to FINALLY see a curvy girl as the romance center in these period shows, because the leading lady is always usually pretty skinny and I just never felt my body type was ever represented. I so wish Simone and Jonathan are able to come back for every season henceforth, but I have a feeling with Jonathan especially getting busier and busier with other commitments, we will lose Kanthony next season.
I think Johnny has said that he loves the show and would keep coming back for every season. It might not be full time though - this might be his last full time season. He might do like one episode a season eventually, just for the big family moments (weddings, etc). But he has said he wants to walk all the sisters down the aisle (Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth), so I think he would at least show up for those moments - he seems to love the entire cast and crew a lot. As for Simone, I have no idea. She might get busier and busier too, so who knows?

As much as I do agree that this season looks like it’s going to focus on Penelope’s storyline more than it did the non-bridgerton leads in previous seasons, I don’t think she will outshine Colin in any way. I feel like it’s going to be them both stepping out of the shadows and finding their voices since they’re both outsiders in their own ways. Colin’s character definitely felt more bland and maybe even uninteresting than the rest of the bridgerton siblings in the previous seasons and thats actually exactly how Penelope feels herself compared to the rest of the ton. But I feel like if you actually focus on their characters individually there’s a lot to unpack there. Even with Colin, as he seems like a very insecure person in hindsight to me. It’s almost like he puts this flirty charming persona to feel more seen and heard when in actuality he is a bit of a nerd, just like Penelope. I would love to see all of that being explored. I think this season is going to be Pen and Colin accepting themselves and becoming confident in who they are while also falling in love with one another. I really hope the writers did these characters well (i have a lot of faith since season 2 delivered!) All in all I’m really excited to see how their journey is going to be. enjoyed the vid !!
Fully agree with you. We've had so little of Colin's internal life in the past few seasons, especially how he feels about himself - if ever there was a time for him to shine, it's NOW.
They know what they're doing with the Kanthony clip because I was not excited about S3 at all until this clip, it was so unexpected. Kate/ Simone is just beyond stunning 😍and I can't get over Anthony.

Penelope family, they assume she will not marry because they do not consider her a beauty. She does not have the height, not the weight as her sisters. Her mother, while not the best person, did choose her daughters vs leaving them behind, so it’s important to acknowledge that.
Love watching your videos on Bridgeton. I agree with a lot of what you said, especially your Kanthony thoughts, except I'm not even a fan of Penelope so Polin doesn't interest me going in (I am basically mostly only excited for Kanthony), but I like to think I can be open-minded and I'm prepared to be swayed by the writers on Polin. We'll see.

I think the that the teaser won't come until next Tuesday if the promotion for season 2 is anything to go by. However it could come any time now. I can't wait for Francesca's story. Thanks for doing this as it is fun to have someone to talk about it with. One concern I have is that it seems like they have a fair amount of main character story lines to include that I am kind of surprised that they are going off book and adding in new story lines as well. This season they need to launch Benedict's story line and Francesca's and Eloise's in addition to including Kanthony and telling Polin's story. That is a lot to do and still add extra plot lines.
The most important thing for me and my satisfaction is that Julie Andrews lives to narrate the whole series to completion. If anything happens which interferes with this I will not be OK. It would be like HP without Maggie Smith. I could never get over it.

I'm a polin stan😭✋🏼 y'all just don't understand the FORBIDDANCE of OBLIVION. IN A FRIENDS TO LOVER'S KINDA TROPE-. Also I'm also not a big fan of that trope. For me, PEN AND COLIN are more of "BEST FRIENDS BROTHER" Trope or "SISTER'S BEST FRIEND" Trope, I also like the trope where the mmc just doesn't think the fmc as a woman, and boom- his live is totally turned upside down when he realizes how much he fucked up. I think people should stop thinking of pen n colin as a friends to lovers trope. HOWEVER IDC I LOVE THEM.
If you have read the original book, Colin went overseas and met up with Pen a lot later. She dictates her own wardrobe now and it’s like a new romance. OK? That’s the difference. The screenwriter messed up all these storylines so much sometimes they don’t make sense anymore. I liked Penelope on the original Quinn novel. Tyvm.
I think people are now beginning to understand that Pen is a main character in this show because that is the way Shondaland has seen her from the beginning. Sadly though I think we will be seeing the Featheringtons in upcoming seasons. Frannie and Benedict are definitely the side stories . I think we will see Michael in the last episode season. Benedict is S4. I think Sophie is going to be in S3 from very early on.
I’m not as excited for this season as I was the last three (including QC). There hasn’t been enough Colin development for me to care that much about him and I don’t like Penelope all that much. I guess we’ll see. Regarding Sophie, the rumoured actress is beautiful and I’ve heard a leak she’s going to be Cressida Cowper’s stepsister (not sure that it’s true) so I already love the dynamic. Am a little bummed Benedict’s probably not getting a male love interest tho, not gonna lie.
Great points about Polin, that Pen is actually signalled to be the main character this season! I'm excited for ✅ redemption arc ✅ representation ✅ friends to lovers (the nice kind where they just get close & then slowly develop deep and meaningful love, no one-sided pining), ✅ maybe Pen kinda busting out a career! I don't know but I'm really looking forward to seeing how the writers turn these characters around. Also broader Bridgerton family stuff might be interesting, with Francesca's story starting (agree that it's absolutely the best book) & Benedict hopefully having more consequential storyline. I think part of why colin doesnt feel like the main character of this pair is because Penelope is really the main character of the whole show. Whistledown is part of every storyline, Pen always has a subplot, we get a lot of focus on her. Shes the true main.

Until last week I didn’t care at all about this show. Due to my job, I had some general idea of the show, but wasn’t interested. Then I watched your review of the book series and, based on that I read Romancing Mr Bridgerton because I was having a stressful week and wanted to read something fluffy. Well, now I’m hooked. Read the book that night, then watched show recaps and Polin clips from the past two seasons the next day. I’m totally shipping them and can’t wait for Season 3 as I relate a little too much to Penelope. 😅 Looking forward to your reactions as well once it starts.
I just can’t root for Penelope after all she did to Marina in season 1. And to anyone who thinks I might be biased against her for whatever reason, I really liked her the first time I viewed… until the Lady Whistledown reveal. What she did to Marina to “protect Colin” was absolutely unforgivable. And let’s face it, there was no small amount of jealousy that Motivated Pen’s decision to socially and financially ruin a young woman of a lower class than herself. Unbelievably short-sighted, selfish, and cruel. The fact that what I hear most in the Bridgerton fandom is how Colin needs to grovel and face consequences for making a slightly insensitive comment when he didn’t even know that Pen was present to hear it or her true feelings which is the only reason the comment was hurtful is baffling to me. Penelope ruined Marina who would be in the poor house had Sir Philip not swooped in last minute, publicly slut-shamed Cressida just to grow her business, and nearly ruined her best friend just to blow suspicion off herself for the things she’s guilty of doing. It’s worth noting that in the books, Lady Whistledown’s writings are just catty, not life-ruining. Had the show stayed more true to the books in that sense, I would still really like Penelope. But in the current cannon, all I want to see for her is consequences and I doubt that’s what will be delivered.
Marina was just as bad as Penelope in that moment, forcing someone into a sham marriage just so she could be protected. I understand why she did it but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s wrong to trap a kind and caring man in a marriage where he will not be loved the way he wants to. So Marina betrayed Pen first by stealing her man. As for Cressida, she’s a bitch to everyone, including Penelope. She deserved to be slut shamed.
Agreed! Especially the way she pointedly goes after Queen Charlotte for no reason, and how she talked trash and almost ruined Daphne's prospects in S1. For me, both Penelope and Colin have a ton of work to do to win me over. But I also trust Shondaland implicitly at this point, so I'm sure I'll be in love with S3 by the end. If not, at least I'll have more KANTHONY content to obsess over!!
@@precious926 I’m a staunch anti-monarchist myself, so I could care less about Lady Whistledown undermining the queen’s authority. However, after Pen starts antagonizing the Queen, she starts behaving in ways that are really hurtful and stressful to the members of the ton. For example, when she makes fun of Daphne for not “living up to her diamondhood” or whatever (which was mean spirited and immoral in the first place) the queen takes it out on Daphne and already makes her bad situation worse. And being a family friend to the Brigerton’s, Penelope would know that, but does she stop messing with the queen or try to write something to help Daphne? Nope. And not surprisingly, her continued antagonism of the queen and rumor-spreading results in multiple members of the Brigerton and Sharma families being damaged by the scandal she creates and fans the flames of. These are two families that have been nothing but kind and supportive of Penelope. I don’t know if a redemption is even possible in like of her behavior.
@@precious926 oh and I just remembered that during the Queen Charlotte spin off, during one of LD’s narrations immediately after the death of the queen’s granddaughter in childbirth, Pen writes a half hearted condolence before a barely veiled snipe that essentially said “uh oh your majesty, England is without an heir. Maybe instead of concerning yourself with the ton marriage mart, you should worry more about your slacker’s kids. Do you need some aloe for that burn as you mourn the loss of your granddaughter and infant great grandchild?” Like seriously Pen? Charlotte doesn’t need to be reminded of her duty as Queen and how unbelievably callus and cruel of you to publicly badger a grieving family?

Not here to yuck your yum, but I can't get behind the Anthony lovefest for the simple reason that he never apologizes for his behavior to his mother or Kate. This isn't an issue solely for Bridgerton, but I'm sick and tired of shows having women say "I'm sorry" for every little thing, but with guys their actions do the talking. Like my guy, tell your mother you're sorry for yelling at her and hurting her feelings.
I’d say it’s Kate who deserves an apology from him more than his mother. The relationship with him and his mom was dysfunctional and I think their moment when he breaks down with relief was a sort of unspoken agreement between them about the resolution of their dysfunction. He did require an apology from his mom. As for Kate, they never addressed how his actions affected her and her family (except for that little apology to Mary) and because they get their HEA, it’s supposed to be resolved but I agree it’s a cop out.
Am sorry but anthony’s head tilt while walking to kate was THE EXACT SAME he gave newton last season when he saw him through the door and i can’t unsee it 😭😭
I believe the season 2 Featherington storyline was filler, to keep them visible because they are necessary for season 3. I suspect that their appearances in season 3 will be more substantive and entertaining. I hope so.😉

I think this may be a bit of a dramatic season given she is lady whistledown and in the show she is out here doing more than making colour comments on people's dresses so doing Benedict next will be a change of pace since it is a Cinderella retelling.
5:50 i feel the same way cause idk colin doesn’t have a personality to me, especially compared to the intensity of anthony and the romanticism of daphne, colin is just kinda there. i’m rooting for pen in s3, but i care more about her getting away from her family, fixing her friendship with eloise and “getting her man” than i actually care about colin at all. (and of course i’m eagerly waiting for married kanthony).
We hopefully won't see the Featheringtons as much after this season. I'm so so excited to see married kanthony, Francesca finally speaking and hopefully a foundation for Benedict being the next lead

I think Johnny has said that he loves the show and would keep coming back for every season. It might not be full time though - this might be his last full time season. He might do like one episode a season eventually, just for the big family moments (weddings, etc). But he has said he wants to walk all the sisters down the aisle (Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth), so I think he would at least show up for those moments - he seems to love the entire cast and crew a lot. As for Simone, I have no idea. She might get busier and busier too, so who knows?

As much as I do agree that this season looks like it’s going to focus on Penelope’s storyline more than it did the non-bridgerton leads in previous seasons, I don’t think she will outshine Colin in any way. I feel like it’s going to be them both stepping out of the shadows and finding their voices since they’re both outsiders in their own ways. Colin’s character definitely felt more bland and maybe even uninteresting than the rest of the bridgerton siblings in the previous seasons and thats actually exactly how Penelope feels herself compared to the rest of the ton. But I feel like if you actually focus on their characters individually there’s a lot to unpack there. Even with Colin, as he seems like a very insecure person in hindsight to me. It’s almost like he puts this flirty charming persona to feel more seen and heard when in actuality he is a bit of a nerd, just like Penelope. I would love to see all of that being explored.
I think this season is going to be Pen and Colin accepting themselves and becoming confident in who they are while also falling in love with one another. I really hope the writers did these characters well (i have a lot of faith since season 2 delivered!)

Fully agree with you. We've had so little of Colin's internal life in the past few seasons, especially how he feels about himself - if ever there was a time for him to shine, it's NOW.

Penelope family, they assume she will not marry because they do not consider her a beauty. She does not have the height, not the weight as her sisters. Her mother, while not the best person, did choose her daughters vs leaving them behind, so it’s important to acknowledge that.

I agree with a lot of what you said, especially your Kanthony thoughts, except I'm not even a fan of Penelope so Polin doesn't interest me going in (I am basically mostly only excited for Kanthony), but I like to think I can be open-minded and I'm prepared to be swayed by the writers on Polin. We'll see.

I think the that the teaser won't come until next Tuesday if the promotion for season 2 is anything to go by. However it could come any time now. I can't wait for Francesca's story. Thanks for doing this as it is fun to have someone to talk about it with. One concern I have is that it seems like they have a fair amount of main character story lines to include that I am kind of surprised that they are going off book and adding in new story lines as well. This season they need to launch Benedict's story line and Francesca's and Eloise's in addition to including Kanthony and telling Polin's story. That is a lot to do and still add extra plot lines.

The most important thing for me and my satisfaction is that Julie Andrews lives to narrate the whole series to completion. If anything happens which interferes with this I will not be OK. It would be like HP without Maggie Smith. I could never get over it.

For me, PEN AND COLIN are more of "BEST FRIENDS BROTHER" Trope or "SISTER'S BEST FRIEND" Trope, I also like the trope where the mmc just doesn't think the fmc as a woman, and boom- his live is totally turned upside down when he realizes how much he fucked up. I think people should stop thinking of pen n colin as a friends to lovers trope. HOWEVER IDC I LOVE THEM.

If you have read the original book, Colin went overseas and met up with Pen a lot later. She dictates her own wardrobe now and it’s like a new romance. OK? That’s the difference. The screenwriter messed up all these storylines so much sometimes they don’t make sense anymore. I liked Penelope on the original Quinn novel. Tyvm.
I think people are now beginning to understand that Pen is a main character in this show because that is the way Shondaland has seen her from the beginning. Sadly though I think we will be seeing the Featheringtons in upcoming seasons.
Frannie and Benedict are definitely the side stories . I think we will see Michael in the last episode season. Benedict is S4. I think Sophie is going to be in S3 from very early on.
I’m not as excited for this season as I was the last three (including QC). There hasn’t been enough Colin development for me to care that much about him and I don’t like Penelope all that much. I guess we’ll see.
Regarding Sophie, the rumoured actress is beautiful and I’ve heard a leak she’s going to be Cressida Cowper’s stepsister (not sure that it’s true) so I already love the dynamic. Am a little bummed Benedict’s probably not getting a male love interest tho, not gonna lie.
Great points about Polin, that Pen is actually signalled to be the main character this season! I'm excited for ✅ redemption arc ✅ representation ✅ friends to lovers (the nice kind where they just get close & then slowly develop deep and meaningful love, no one-sided pining), ✅ maybe Pen kinda busting out a career! I don't know but I'm really looking forward to seeing how the writers turn these characters around.
Also broader Bridgerton family stuff might be interesting, with Francesca's story starting (agree that it's absolutely the best book) & Benedict hopefully having more consequential storyline. Hope it's good 🤞

I think part of why colin doesnt feel like the main character of this pair is because Penelope is really the main character of the whole show. Whistledown is part of every storyline, Pen always has a subplot, we get a lot of focus on her. Shes the true main.

Until last week I didn’t care at all about this show. Due to my job, I had some general idea of the show, but wasn’t interested. Then I watched your review of the book series and, based on that I read Romancing Mr Bridgerton because I was having a stressful week and wanted to read something fluffy. Well, now I’m hooked. Read the book that night, then watched show recaps and Polin clips from the past two seasons the next day. I’m totally shipping them and can’t wait for Season 3 as I relate a little too much to Penelope. 😅 Looking forward to your reactions as well once it starts.

I just can’t root for Penelope after all she did to Marina in season 1. And to anyone who thinks I might be biased against her for whatever reason, I really liked her the first time I viewed… until the Lady Whistledown reveal. What she did to Marina to “protect Colin” was absolutely unforgivable. And let’s face it, there was no small amount of jealousy that Motivated Pen’s decision to socially and financially ruin a young woman of a lower class than herself. Unbelievably short-sighted, selfish, and cruel. The fact that what I hear most in the Bridgerton fandom is how Colin needs to grovel and face consequences for making a slightly insensitive comment when he didn’t even know that Pen was present to hear it or her true feelings which is the only reason the comment was hurtful is baffling to me. Penelope ruined Marina who would be in the poor house had Sir Philip not swooped in last minute, publicly slut-shamed Cressida just to grow her business, and nearly ruined her best friend just to blow suspicion off herself for the things she’s guilty of doing. It’s worth noting that in the books, Lady Whistledown’s writings are just catty, not life-ruining. Had the show stayed more true to the books in that sense, I would still really like Penelope. But in the current cannon, all I want to see for her is consequences and I doubt that’s what will be delivered.
Marina was just as bad as Penelope in that moment, forcing someone into a sham marriage just so she could be protected. I understand why she did it but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s wrong to trap a kind and caring man in a marriage where he will not be loved the way he wants to. So Marina betrayed Pen first by stealing her man.
As for Cressida, she’s a bitch to everyone, including Penelope. She deserved to be slut shamed.
Agreed! Especially the way she pointedly goes after Queen Charlotte for no reason, and how she talked trash and almost ruined Daphne's prospects in S1. For me, both Penelope and Colin have a ton of work to do to win me over. But I also trust Shondaland implicitly at this point, so I'm sure I'll be in love with S3 by the end. If not, at least I'll have more KANTHONY content to obsess over!!
@@precious926 I’m a staunch anti-monarchist myself, so I could care less about Lady Whistledown undermining the queen’s authority. However, after Pen starts antagonizing the Queen, she starts behaving in ways that are really hurtful and stressful to the members of the ton. For example, when she makes fun of Daphne for not “living up to her diamondhood” or whatever (which was mean spirited and immoral in the first place) the queen takes it out on Daphne and already makes her bad situation worse. And being a family friend to the Brigerton’s, Penelope would know that, but does she stop messing with the queen or try to write something to help Daphne? Nope. And not surprisingly, her continued antagonism of the queen and rumor-spreading results in multiple members of the Brigerton and Sharma families being damaged by the scandal she creates and fans the flames of. These are two families that have been nothing but kind and supportive of Penelope. I don’t know if a redemption is even possible in like of her behavior.

Maybe instead of concerning yourself with the ton marriage mart, you should worry more about your slacker’s kids. Do you need some aloe for that burn as you mourn the loss of your granddaughter and infant great grandchild?” Like seriously Pen? Charlotte doesn’t need to be reminded of her duty as Queen and how unbelievably callus and cruel of you to publicly badger a grieving family?

Not here to yuck your yum, but I can't get behind the Anthony lovefest for the simple reason that he never apologizes for his behavior to his mother or Kate. This isn't an issue solely for Bridgerton, but I'm sick and tired of shows having women say "I'm sorry" for every little thing, but with guys their actions do the talking. Like my guy, tell your mother you're sorry for yelling at her and hurting her feelings.
I’d say it’s Kate who deserves an apology from him more than his mother.
The relationship with him and his mom was dysfunctional and I think their moment when he breaks down with relief was a sort of unspoken agreement between them about the resolution of their dysfunction. He did require an apology from his mom.
As for Kate, they never addressed how his actions affected her and her family (except for that little apology to Mary) and because they get their HEA, it’s supposed to be resolved but I agree it’s a cop out.

The Feathertons provide comic relief. Too much time was spent on their storyline last season, but it served a purpose.

I think this may be a bit of a dramatic season given she is lady whistledown and in the show she is out here doing more than making colour comments on people's dresses so doing Benedict next will be a change of pace since it is a Cinderella retelling.

5:50 i feel the same way cause idk colin doesn’t have a personality to me, especially compared to the intensity of anthony and the romanticism of daphne, colin is just kinda there. i’m rooting for pen in s3, but i care more about her getting away from her family, fixing her friendship with eloise and “getting her man” than i actually care about colin at all. (and of course i’m eagerly waiting for married kanthony).
