The Ford Ranger is a nameplate that has been used on multiple model lines of pickup trucks sold by Ford worldwide. The nameplate has been used for distinct model lines of vehicles worldwide since 1982 from the compact and mid-size pickup category. The Ford Ranger debuted as a compact pickup mainly sold in North America since 1982 for the 1983 model year, with later introductions in some South American countries. Between 1998 and 2011, the Ranger nameplate is also used for models that was developed by Mazda for sale outside the North American market. In 2011, Ford introduced the first Ranger based on the T6 platform. Considered a mid-size pickup truck, the model was developed in-house by Ford Australia. In the same year, the North American-market Ranger was discontinued, leaving the T6 platform-based Ranger as the sole Ranger model worldwide.

The second-generation T6-based Ranger (fourth-generation Ranger worldwide and fifth-generation Ranger in North America) debuted in November 2021. Codenamed P703 during development, it continued to be developed by Ford Australia with heavy inputs from Asian, American, African and European subsidiaries of Ford. It has been produced starting from the second quarter of 2022 in Thailand and South Africa for more than 100 global markets.

Dubbed the "T6.2", the vehicle is not completely reengineered with the use of the same basic body shapes and dimensions, door and glass apertures, most chassis hardpoints, along with many engine and transmission options. However, most parts are not directly interchangeable with the previous Ranger, according to Ian Foston, chief platform engineer for T6. The P703 Ranger features an upgraded chassis, an added wheelbase and wider tracks of 50 mm (2.0 in) each, and an all-new suspension which has been placed further outboard. The change allows for more room for spring/damper articulation, which improves ride and handling capabilities regardless of load, and 4x4 off-road capability due to greater wheel travel. The engine bay is also wholly reworked with hydroformed structure to allow for the fitment of the V6 engine, a Power Stroke 3.0-litre turbodiesel unit which is first introduced for the 2018 F-150 but heavily modified for Ranger. The vehicle also introduced a wider bed, allowing for a standard pallet (1.2 m x 0.8 m) to fit.

I don't care to much about the tech because you can just add it but striping the power window and centra lock that is a different story

Ford really upped the ante with this base model 4x4. I'm just curious as to its long term durability and reliability. Also cost of PMS.
I'm glad they added stepboards even for the base XL model. Because this is a work truck.
I just bought this Ranger XL 4x4 MT yesterday. I just added the step board, bed liner (same in Ranger Wildtrak New Gen). I will just replace the rim with the Wildtrak standard that I bought from the tire shop and fit with 20" cooper AT tires. Soon I will replace the suspension with a toughdog once available. It's pretty decent I would say. I'm also planning to change the headlight the same as in the top-of-the-line ranger. Probably it will cost around 250k to 300k on the modification and add-ons.

For me eto pinakamaganda lalo na sa base model. Naka separate din yung mga switch like 4x4 at diff lock unlike sa high end variants ng ranger.

If I were in the market and have the fund at this exact moment, then I'd get a sick rims for the city but will keep the steelies for driving inter-island (like Cavite to Leyte which I do from time to time in my German sedan.) Plus install a pair of fog lamps and I'm good to go

If you ever have to replace the front lense then that is where to base model will be best. If out on trail and bump a tree , that could be expensive on the higher variation.

We have the base model Ranger 2022 XLS 4x4, 2 months old..... i like the old rim.. and the side step.
now the 2023 rim is kind of low and boring style and no side steps. ..But more modern design overall
If you add the tow package to the base model do you get the upgraded brake package or do you need to add a heavy duty package. I heard there are three levels of brakes for the ranger and the bigger brakes would be better for me as I live in the mountains.
It's still being talked about here not sure what kind of tow package you can install on these new Rangers.
@@JohnAgustinScuderia458595 wouldn't make much sense to have a work truck if you couldn't tow or pull with it . Even if just to have the hitch back there to protect the spare and other plastic components from damage as well as a recovery point. Maybe the after market will design one .

new Ranger is now the king of base variant but in mid variant still Navara VE is the King with 187hp (7speed AT with manual mode) while XLT only got 167hp (6speed AT No manual mode) ... also VE is cheaper than XLT
