    Here are the lyrics.
    Somewhere in the night,
    There's a lost star shining,
    Sending out a heartbeat
    To you.
    Way across the sky,
    There's a faint light burning,
    Hoping that the glimmer will
    Shine through.
    Somewhere, there's someone.
    They're reaching out,
    They're hoping,
Like ships that are lost in the night.
    They're calling you.
    Calling you, calling you.
    Someone in the night
    Is sending out a signal.
    Gotta get a message
    To you.
    Lying in the dark,
    The shadows make you shiver.
    Gotta shake off your fright
    'Cause they need you tonight.
    Oh, somewhere, there's someone.
    They're reaching out,
    They're searching,
For ships that are lost in the night.
    They're calling you.
    Calling you, calling you.
    Calling you, calling you.
    Way off in the stars,
    Someone is sailing
    Right across the sky.
    You better wake up,
    You better look right
'Cause one lost star is calling tonight.
    "This is it.
    Come tonight."
    Oh, somewhere, there's someone.
    They're reaching out,
    They're hoping,
For ships that might pass in the night.
    Oh, they're calling you, yeah.
    They're calling you, oh.
    They're calling you, well.
They're calling you, calling you, whoa-oh-oh.
    They're calling you.
    They're calling you, calling you.

The music in this series is beautiful. You'll never find anything like it in an animated series. The Raccoons have always been a personal favorite of mine.

Holy shit, this music is awesome. Why have I not heard of this cartoon for so long?

Good question! Scarier if you're a fellow Canadian. A little more understandable if you're from elsewhere. I suppose age would play a role too because there hasn't been much mention of the Raccoons for over 20 years.

@@BetamaxKing I'm American and I was born in 1993. I never heard of this show until just yesterday. I haven't watched the show itself, but it has to be good if it has a soundtrack this amazing.

To my knowledge. It was broadcast in the USA at times and I was told that some of the merchandise was available near the boarder on the American side. I had an American friend approach me a couple of years ago with the question "If I were to ask do you know The Raccoons, would you know what I was talking about?" To which I replied "Every Canadian knows The Raccoons". Apparently her cousin or something had seen the show back in the day after someone visited Canada and brought back tapes. An American born in 1993 might just have missed this. The series ended in 1992 and I don't know how much syndicated runtime it got below the boarder. The soundtracks to the specials like this and the series are straight gold. The best being "Run With Us" usually heard in the ending credits. Search that! You won't be disappointed. Look for Lisa Lougheed's Evergreen Nights album on here to continue your musical journey into the Evergreen forest and the world of The Raccoons. On another note, the series' creator Kevin Gillis is working on a reboot of the series for a new generation.

@@BetamaxKing Yeah, "Run With Us" was how I first heard about The Raccoons. It was used, fittingly enough, in a Sly Cooper video that I was watching yesterday. And thanks for telling me that story.

Nice. I should petition to have it in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie. What a nice fit that would be.

Wooow. Never heard the audio quality this good before. Great find!
I only wish this was the same recording that was actually used in Let's Dance/Lost Star. I prefer the lead vocals in that version.

Thanks. More like a good save. I've owned the record for decades. Sound quality is because it's actually a produced album.

I don't remember exactly why but I thought there was some contractual reason why John Schneider couldn't appear on the record.

I was the producer and co-composer. I don't think we could get a release for the record of John Schneider's version, which was used in "Lost Star". I actually like them both.

@@jonstroll3746 As you can imagine, I've held this album for so long that to hear directly from someone involved in its creation is a little humbling. The Raccoons in general helped actually mould a generation of Canadians and for me, they're held on a tier all their own. While other cartoons of the era fade into memory, The Raccoons endure.
There was soul poured into every aspect of the specials and the series alike and looking back on it, you can really see how Gillis and everyone involved just cared. It mattered; that these characters, the stories, and the atmosphere were presented right and that the music was created and matched perfectly. This album is beautiful. Do masters of these recordings still exist? Thank you for your work on this and on The Raccoons.

Oh my goodness, the whole "Rita Coolidge" thing has come back to haunt me... that in itself a very STOOPID story (yes, stoopid with two 'O's, there is a difference)
I like the pink grid on the artwork, those are always so iconic. The arrangement of this song has some resemblances to the song Gloria by Laura Branigan (at least a bit)

I think this is my favourite song from Lost Star. I don't know which of the two versions I prefer because both are great. I heard that it got replaced when Lost Star was remastered, which saddens me. Another song just wouldn't fit the special as well, in my opinion.

Yeah, everything John Schneider did got cut from the special. I haven't seen the redone version because I don't have Crave but after reading about it I'm not sure I want to. "Calling You" got replaced by "Missing It," from what I've read. I found a link to a recording of the version they use on Internet Archive. I'd send it to you if I could but that won't work on RUclips. It's a nice song but doesn't fit The Lost Star. I also read that "One More Night" got replaced with "Some Days" from The Raccoons On Ice. Again, not the best fit, in my opinion. Hold onto that Beta.
